I bought one of these for SACD playback and watching 3D Blu-Rays on my old Plasma screen. It works fine but anyone buying one in 2020 needs to be aware that the standard settings may give problems on older TVs and receivers. Standard output is 4K and ARC HDMI cable control is activated out of the box and you will need to connect to a 4K screen to disable them. Once you've done that it will be just fine. But it was a bit of a hassle having to fix this with no instructions in the manual.
Best Buy has this for $99, which is a great value! Not to mention, this model has Bluetooth TRX which is a plus for me. I'll take 4k upsacling for now.
I am having a problem with this player I recently bought. When I put in my Blu-ray disc, I can only hear the audio and see the subtitles, but not the video. The disc is brand new (it used to be a blank disc). I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I hope I can get help because I don't really want to get a refund. (btw it can play dvd)
The 6700 is the best 4k upscaled blu ray player.If its picture quality alone this unit cant be matched Sony really leaves the opposition in their wake. Major difference is detail and colour.
This review is lacking. How long does it take to load Netflix? On the S3700, it takes quite a while. Is navigating with the controller quick? On the S3700, there seems to be input lag moving the arrows in any direction. I want to know the performance of the S6700. This video talks mainly about its features.
Does this unit have Internet access? I have wifi but can't get online. The channels work,but i don't have simple browsing access,any help is appreciated. Thanks
Hey there, my current blu-ray player has been acting up a bit. I am considering getting this, but I am also worried a new line of players might hit soon. Do you think a new line of standard blu-ray players will be any significant improvement over this?

I have not tried it out. Good is relative, because there are only two 4K Blu-ray players on the market. I like the Samsung UBD K8500 a lot. If you are a gamer and want a 4K Blu-ray player this sounds like a good choice.
No more PS3 games on the Sony BDP-S6700... Playstation Now is no longer available and they intentionally did not port the new Playstation Plus app to this blu-ray player. Sony has become shamelessly greedy!
No in general if your buying retail as it's only region A in the us. There are region free versions but cost about $100 more. I have a region free version and it's awesome.
The only real selling point over the Sony BDP S6500 is that the Sony BDP S6700 has bluetooth. I did not show this in the review, but you can connect your PS controller wirelessly if you choose. And you can connect wireless headphones.
Do you know anyone who has had this for at least 6 months? If so, does it still work well? I want to get this for my 8 year old instead of putting cable in their room

Mine may be the odd one out but It's a piece of junk. I bought it to watch internet channels I haven't even tried the blue ray player. So let me tell you what happens. After watching the internet for about an hour the system freezes won't take any remote or front panel commands can't even power off, must unplug wait 20 seconds then power back up then things begin working for a while since the system has virtually no ventilation I remove the Cabinet Cover this helped a little bit the system runs a little longer then before. This is systematic of a CMOS device latch-up usually caused by a floating gate. I don't know if the unit is using CMOS devices but all I can tell you is it doesn't work very good for me.
All the same issues here. I figured it might just be a case of overheating as well. Unplugging does the job, but takes more than 20 seconds for mine to function again.
Can you get internet access with yours? I get the channels it came with, and I have wifi, but can you browse the web through the apps? I don't have any icon for online access. Thanks if you have any help.
Pitiful review. Does it work well on 3D? Play mp4 from a thumb drive? We will never know. BTW everyone knows that there's forever something newer and better. The stuff you recommend is irrelevant. Never again.
PATHETIC picture quality playing regular DVD on a non-4K LED TV. Not just the DVD; even playback of MP4 files off the USB is horrendous. NOT RECOMENDED!!
I hate this thiiing (for the PlayStation stuff) there's too little games and my parents bought it as a Christmas present for me as the ps3 console it didn't go well
