I too found that lower drive belt lying loose on the bottom tray of my CD player after over 2 decades of service ! Many thanks for sharing your insight regarding this repair.
This is precisely what happened to my unit and after watching your video I was able to replace both belts and now my cd player works again. I can't thank you enough. Not only can I listen to my hundreds of CDs again but also this machine didn't end on a landfill.
Thank you for making this video! I was able to repair our Sony CD player, which is the same model. You saved us a lot of money, and my husband and I are able to listen to our music again!
Thanks!! I have the same player with the same problem. Followed along and found a worn out belt laying below. I got mine working with a rubber band right now. Glad it's back! It's a Goodwill treasure I found 10 years ago.
This is the non remote model of the one I mentioned on your other video CDP-E345, Mine made the same noise - had the same tape. I took it off and got the residue off with goo gone and elbow grease. after replacing both belts the spindle still makes a lot of noise - like a rattle, watch it - this thing has sharp metal edges - two band aids later... lol
Glad I caught this video. My CE275 makes a grinding noise when I turn it on. It seems to grind a bit but eventually plays the disc ok. Load, program, eject all work. Just taking longer to settle down when power is turned on??? Any ideas??
Have you come across one with a broken gear? How to fix that? I already disassembled it and found both belts were off and needed replacing but when I went to turn internal piece upside down to check belt underneath a gear fell out
Hello, I've got an issues with my Sony 5 disc changer, when I go to play a cd when the player first grabs the disc it starts to make a squealing sound, not sure what going on, it eventually starts playing the cd, other then that it's always worked flawlessly. I was able to do some more looking at it today, I took the cover off so I could see what it was doing, it looks like the bottom and top mechanism is trying to grab the cd but when I push down slightly on the top when it tries to grab it it's able to. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
I noticed this CE275 is doing the same thing mine is doing. The carousel stops shy of the correct position and then rotates a bit more to get to the final position when loading a disk. I have several CE375's that rotate to the final position without stopping just before reaching it. I know the 275 and 375 should be the same (275 didn't come with a remote and no headphone jack) but I find this behavior odd. Is it a 275 issue, older firmware, or some other problem?
I just acquired a mint ce357 and while physically it looks brand new, it sometimes does not detect a disc when there is one inserted. Other than that it plays and sounds great. Any idea why it sometimes doesn’t detect a disc? Thanks!
I have this exact model and the tray keeps spinnin and spinning and does not stop. I ran the disc cleaner but it does not work. I bought a jVc used from good will for one cd but always liked the 5 tray model. What can be wrong and how is it fixed ?
My Sony CDP-C445 five-cd carousel player has this problem--when the carousel is rotating, sometimes a cd will come out of its circular tray and onto the carousel itself which jams the carousel. Any suggestions on solving this problem?
Hello, this was a very helpful video when I had to take apart my Sony 5 disk player, but I have another problem that can’t seem to find a fix for it. I sent you an email with a video showing the problem. Can you please take a look at it and respond. I’ll pay for consultation even
I have the exact same player. The tray on mine won't rotate. Can you tell me how to remove the trim piece from the edge of the tray? I suspect the belt is worn out because I hear the motor spinning wildly. Thanks.
Hi do you still take shipped players for repair? Cost? I have this same model and the belts are connected but it’s literally screams when it tries to play a disc. I’m in Indiana by Chicago. Thanks
