Sony CDP CE375 5CD Changer Fail 

I have the model cde 355. Could not find belt for that model but bought two on ebay for the 400. Assumed close model numbers would use same square belts. Disassembled and found the squealing loading belt buried like the one shown here at the very bottom of the unit and, with a little luck, completed the repair. Little tricky getting the face plate off but other than that and having to reset one of the ribbon cables, not too bad. Works like a charm. Thank you for saying "loading belt." It was the key to my success and saved me the $250 I was going to pay for a Yamaha refurb single disc unit.

I'm having the same problem with mine. Did you ever find a way to fix it? I tried searching online but no luck.

I have the same CD player and it was doing the same thing, but I was able to fix mine with a temporary fix until I find out what I can do to stop this. Like you said the disc carousel was rotating too far and the guide pin was hitting the tray and causing the CD loading motor to pinch the tray and the disc and prevent the disc from spinning freely, thus the screeching noise. The Fix: I used a piece of furniture glide felt on the plastic piece that keeps the tray in place and it slightly rubs the CD carousel and provides enough friction to prevent it from traveling too far and causing the CD loader from pinching the tray and disc. This may put additional stress on the tray spinning motor but it does work, just make sure its not an excessive amount of rubbing. I would say that mine only slightly brushes the tray and its not enough to tilt the CD carousel or cause the motor to bind up and give but it will cause it to slow down on the rotation slightly. Give it a shot. Hope this helps.

Full disclosure: we had a happy ending.. I found a similar Sony 5 disc carousel that someone left out in the trash at 19th and Panama street in center city.. Which works great and responds to my original remote.. Not all functions work BUT it works.. So I found a free replacement that works great.. So the music can live on.. Those CD used in the video were chosen strategically .. I'm a happy camper ..
