Get your Sony HX400V from amazon through the link below: www.amazon.com/... Here is an update on the Sony HX400V and a tour of its UI and settings. Enjoy! -TDD
This camera is the best superzoom out there, if you want an all in one camera for a budget. This and the Panasonic FZ300, if you need more video capability than zoom reach for photography. Both have an outstanding ISO performance for such low budget cameras. The focus is simply crazy, this camera almost reads my mind.
I saved up and bought this very model. The results were crystal clear shots and impressed me. It is easy to use and if you like to experiment (as I do ) you will find it is a quality product with a fantastic lens. I will post a video as soon as the weather gets better, try all the functions out too. First impressions are great..
Abhishek Jathar i have the hx60 and that is the smaller version of this camera and it has full manual mode which i always use. At 1:35 in this video you see the camera in topview and you see round button left, there is a M mode on that dial button. M is the full manual mode. Changing aperture and shutterspeed is very easy. In my camera i scroll the wheel on the back of my cam. I expect it to here quite similar, or maybe you have to press buttons, but menu is the same on both hx60 and this camera.
install Imaging Edge Mobile on your phone off playstore...its awesome....easy to figure out.....connects right to your camera and allows you to see what your taking before you take it :) bit late i know lol :)
I would like to see a video of how to change the menu settings for the Sony DSC-HX400v. I have just discovered the Fn button and would like to learn how to customize it...Julian
Thanks you sooooooo mucchhhhh..... My sony camera was not showing any screen. I thought my camera was not working anymore and I even thought of putting in Dustin.. but when I came to this video... I could fix again..... Thanks you sir...
Can you please explain what is 1 2 M S A P SCN uses and benefits. For what kind of pics we use M? For what kind of pics we use S? Etc., Please explain each and every point.
I recently bought this for a travel camera, landscapes on the fly - literally, from the back of a motorcycle, as well as stills. Love the zoom, and I was looking for a good built in zoom and quality photo with 20 mp. I am very, very disappointed with the quality of photos from this camera in this type of use. Blurred, zoom blurred, not handling motion, not stabilizing - and tons of white-out photos that bleach out the background. I did a video riding down the Million Dollar Highway which I have done previously with great results from Olympus, or even my cell phone! With this camera, the whole darn video was bleached out an virtually useless, ruined! Can't be redone, either. These are in the moment shots while traveling. I bought this because Olympus is not currently making the built in zoom cameras they previously made, and I don't want to carry around a bunch of lenses. Or even one other lens. I want the built in zoom. I want lightweight. I want ease. It's on the go. But I am ready to return this to Best Buy with great disappointment. I came here to see if there were settings I was missing and need to adjust - no answers here. This guy just runs through the menu - this is NOT a tutorial by any means. I don't need a menu run-through. I need a tutorial that explains each menu setting and whether and how to get rid of bleached out photos and, well, what can you do about the VIDEO? It's crap! I can't zoom on the fly and get landscapes, which I could always do with Olympus. So I may have to return to Olympus, spend a lot more money, and have the extra zoom. Sony has failed to deliver. And they can't even manage a tutorial to help consumers. We don't all know the technical ins and outs, guys. By the way, it's not pricey. I thought it was cheap, and wondered what I was getting for so little. Now I know. Pricey is Olympus and other high end models of your competitors. Pricey is $1200 and up. This was less than $400 at Best Buy.
Very nice video! I have a question though: Does this camera suffer from the rolling shutter effect when the light levels suddenly change while filming? (For example when recording lightning or close by fireworks). And if possible could you answer the same question for the HX90V? I have the HX20V and that one definitely shows the rolling shutter effect when playing back a recording of lightning or close by fireworks. Even on normal speed which is a slight bummer :\ I have read about manufacturers trying to address this problems with CMOS sensors so I'm curious if they managed to fix that.
So much in doubt between this and the P900. This one is such an all around camera, but the P900 has that big lens. I wish you talked about the manual focus ring, that is such a big deal for many people, including me. Those zoom cameras can be very slow to focus and being able to give a helping hand can save more pictures than having more zoom many times.
Go for the Sony, I bought a Nikon P900 and the results were awful, especially when zoomed in at the higher end, but generally disappointing,I no longer have the p900 but have the Sony hx400, really good results.
Hi, how do I see the battery life on the display ... Went from The HX 50 V to this camera. Also How do I delete images by date, Hope you have time for my 2 questions, Thank you.
About the menu settings, section 1 (Image size), how come mine shows 15M L:15M / 7.5M M:7.5 / 2.1M S:2.1 only and having exactly the same DSC-HX400V purchased in May 2014 in Canada?
I understand that the hx400 is one of your older cameras but I was wondering if you would consider doing a feature review as I'm new to photography and would love too know how too take for example long exposure photos
Is the SteadyShot on all the time when shooting stills? I just purchased this camera and cannot see any reference to SteadyShot other than in movie mode. I would certainly like to learn how image stabilization works with this camera.
Guys try use imagine app for Sony, when you use app picture is clear and steady...as soon as you disconnect phone, picture is back blurry,so if you use phone, picture will be ok. Try it. Work for me...also work full zoom and take battery off,but not always...you have to be quick!!
Great video. Regarding the continuous shot mode, is it a 10 shot burst/wait for processing or SLR like shutter press continuos shoot for however long up to 10fps? Played w/the Sony hx300 vs Canon's 50x in store, no Sd card but found the Canon seemed ready to continuos shoot like a SLR while the Sony not so much. Hoping I missed some opt in the hx300 or it just needed a sd card.?
__________________________________________________________ Dear Sir/Madame, When I switch the digital Sony camera in the center of the screen, an number E:62:10 is flashing on the screen. What is the problem and how to solve it? Thanks looking forward to hearing from you soon.
yes looks good but i had a canon in the past had it for 8 years. and it keeps on working it is a sx100 power shot by canon and as not let me down but it is only 8mp but in its day 2009 it was a lot so thinking of geting more mp and find a camera with more zoom as my old camera is only 10x and was told sony are ok but canon are better .but i do not know a lot abount cameras so thinking of geting a Cannon Powershot SX 60 will keep my old camera to as its made well you know it feels like a camera in your hands . better body than a lot of the new cameras and runs on aa
Awesome review mate! I got one the other days but I can't figure out how on earth to connect it to my phone, nor by NFC neither wifi... can you help me out?
I was watching your RU-vid clip on the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX400V Update and Menu Diving in 4K camera. I’ve got this camera and there seems to be a problem. The LCD screen keeps cutting out when it's moved on the mount. Do you have any idea why it is doing this? I have tried to search the internet and can’t find the reason. Thank you.
Helpful video....I just bought this neat camera and it is much more complex than my last Canon SX720. One thing....after I snap a photo the view screen fills with graphs and all sorts of info -?- when I just want to see the image I took. Is there a way to reset this so all the extra graphs and info goes away and I just see the picture I took full screen? Thanks a bunch! - Jack in western CO
Hello good morning. I just bought the camera but I have a problem when taking the photos and having a dark setting, the photos in the end appear as if they were very bright, it only happens to me when it is with outside light since it does not happen in dark places, any solution please . thank you
Does anyone know how the manual mode works? In M the thumb-dial can be used to change the aperture, the ISO-setting is buried somewhere in the menu (so three clicks away), but I haven't yet found a way to change the shutter-speed. Usually you have combinations of buttons, but I tried several things here without any luck. Also, the manual is crap, doesn't even have an entry on the manual mode. Maybe they just forgot the button and figured, hey, noones using M on these kinds of cameras anyway?!
Focus area (Wide) at 5:15 is all important when shooting wildlife (birds) and sports. How many options are there? This model was released nearly 5 years ago - is there an updated version please?
I have been using this camera for 2 yrs now for filming aricraft and all my videos. But it broke down 2 weeks ago due to overheating in a very hot day while filming an airshow! It power up but zoom lens wont work and LCD is blank, not a flicker of light!! Damn, it s my favourite camera! Anyone has the same problem? Repair cost?
Hey I have the same camera, I am stuck with remote shooting for streaming on laptop. Only MTP and Mass usb connection are the options in USB connections. Please Help me with it
videos were transferred to computer and file type to play videos accidentally changed so now they wont play anymore. Some files say int or inp or BNP. VLC will not play videos. Have any clue to what I messed up?
It's an ok menu tour, but all he does is read the menu out loud without actually saying what any of it means. I can do that by myself just by looking at the camera. This video is kind of pointless if you have the camera. If you don't have the camera, and you're thinking about buying one, this is a good tour through the menu.
Purvesh Kacha i have hx200v . and love the video recording quality only hx200v don't have the slow motion video built in and it doesn't have pause buton . just record and stop. I wait the comparation between hx200v VS hx400
Hi, whar are the good preset for a very good Portrait session using this Sony Camera (exposure in sunset - or camera shooting session in the middle of the street, outside, with the sun)
because H400 is 20.1 MP instead of 20.4 MP on the HX400V, but more importantly...because of the lens: H400=Sony lens, whereas HX400v=Carl Zeiss prime lens
I own the Sony cybershop 200 I am having a small problem which is removing OEV on my display when I am using HDMI recording to a external device can you help me with this.
+Max Bradz fixed lens, not replacable: But the one thing you probably will never want to do is get another zoom lens, as the one that is on the camera already blows several much bigger DSLR-zoom-lenses out of the water...
I have a sony hx400v will a Sony external microphone work to some extent? I know they are not completely compatible but is it so much that I will notice? I shoot outside.
Great review, quick questions. Do I need to transfer the files to my computer through Play memories? I've been just plugging the SDHC memory card and plugging it into my iMac, and I'm wondering if that causes downgraded image quality of any kind? Certain modes ex AVCHD 24p 24m(FX) says it can only record to blu ray. So if I record on that mode and run it through Final Cut Pro and export it, will I have any issues? Also can you mount ND filters on the lens as well? Thanks
I transfer my files with the USB cord that came with it Into iPhoto or iMove. It's been doing great so far. I didn't feel like taking the sim card out every time.
Hi, wanted to know if you have any info on the Cyber-shot DSC-H2? I know it’s an older model, but I’m having trouble with it staying powered on. Thanks
Tryed using ISO 3200 Yesterday to capture a Sprinting Little Fox and as a little test. Then forgot i had it on 3200 and proceeded to Fail about the first 100 pictures i took afterwards XD
Does the Sony hx400v have microphone display when external microphone ie the XYST1M Stereo Microphone is attached..so that I know it's recording from the external microphone
What is difference between HX400B and HX400V? What can be controlled by the smartphone app? (Do you see what the camera view on the smartphone device?)
Can you disable the "power save start time" to off? I assume this shuts the power, so can it be disabled? I was waiting for you to take an instant to go into that menu just to see if that was there or not
You can only use microphones that are sending the data over the hot shoe like this one : www.amazon.de/Sony-ECMXYST1M-CE7-Stereomikrofon-Camcorder-Multi-Interface-Zubeh%C3%B6rschuh/dp/B00BN54FNO/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1465327557&sr=1-1&keywords=sony Hope I could help you!
can someone please answer a few questions I have in respect to the sony DSC HX400 B/V. First what is the difference between the two HX400b and HX400v. second can you mount an extra lens on this Camera and if you can what is the thread size. Last a separate Question, does the Sony Syber Shot h400 with 63x Zoom have support for an extra lens and if so what is that thread size. My reason for asking is I am about to buy a new Camera and I need to know what is best for what I need it for Thankyou
I bought HX400V model but the hdmi is not clean! :'( 😭😪 I decided with this because I would like to use it for video streaming (using a video capture) but I can't hide the OSD information, also the rectangle in the center of the screen. The info key shows more and more information, not less 😕
i found this answer in the comments: @awakenlovemarriageministry686 1 year ago How do you remove the display from showing, while using this camera as a webcam? @l.258 10 months ago disp button, keep pressing it until gone if I understand your question.
hi everyone i've got question,is this camera can do it slow motion or time lapse, and is this camera compatible with (Time lapse intervalometer remote timer shutter ) Thank you
Could you please explain how to change the exposure level on manual mode. Also how to change the focus on manual mode( to make the object in the foreground the subject and blur the background)... Thankdr
+Aldred Gomes yep, same question here: You can use the thumb-dial to change the aperture, but I didn't find a way to change the exposure-time. Nothing in the manual either (the manual is really complete crap by the way.) I guess they figured, hey, no-one who buys this camera knows how to expose manually anyway, so why add an extra-button for exposure-times..
