I have the same player but i have the White version its very nice sounding details. I only use it for playing cd's and its wonderfull . I connect it analog so i dont use a separate dac . Thanks for revieuw its a cheap and good thing.i think the New price whas nog that cheap.
I really enjoy this review series although to be honest for my situation CD players are still so cheap (I think they will increase going forth, have you seen cassette deck price developments lately?) that I am more interested in the 100 Pounds / Euros price bracket. Again, speculating they will go only go up. I have a little request, I remember TechMoan had a hugely popular three part series a few years ago where he put together best possibe 250 Pounds system starting with a Casseiver (OMG, that sounds like a skirt-pants). It would be nice if you could better that with a 100 or 150 pounds system. Considering we are having such a good and cheap source right here in this video that could be fun to see just how audiophile you can get for how little money.
Thanks Hugo, yes I am a avid follower of Techmoan and do remember that series on building a budget HiFi. I remember the units being a bit of a mix match and did cringe a bit when starting with the cheap Casseiver, but I suppose he got 3 units in one there for little money, but probably taking a bit of a hit in the sound department. But its a good idea for little video for me to do. So I will have a look round on what I have or can buy and get one sorted out.
Yep, couldn't agree more, i bought 3 of them! One a little scratched for £15 and a further 2 immaculate condition with remote for £30 each should last a while! Here's a thing, i bought a Yamaha DSPA 3090 for £80, because these don't have hdmi they are worthless to the AV community so what you get is a 25kg £2000 av amplifier like all old school high end av amps it's built to a high standard with the sound quality of a £1000 2 channel hifi amp (trust me I've done a side by side comparison) for absolutely peanuts money! And the dac in the Yamaha improves the performance of the Sony 725 even further in my opinion, £120 for high end sound. Just add a pair of Mission 752 freedoms and you have a staggering sound system for under £300 752's go for about£150 on ebay.
Yes these av amps with no hdmi go for silly money as for the reasons you say, even seen sub £1000 units go for 20 or 30 quid, some nice bargains to be had. A lot of people look pass the av amps, thanks for your comment
Yes I found this DVD player quite good for CD's its quite a livey sounding unit. At the moment I am using a Philips CD 360 which I bought for £24 and its a nice little budget player.
Hi Nigel sorry I have only used this as an audio player on which it has run very well with no overheating or flaws, but cannot comment on the video side
Yes, you can stop reviewing on "does not play CD-R". I supposed to move all my collection to DVD-R (2xslim case) in order to save a lot of space, and considered this player as a possible work horse.
@@MichaelYates that's good handy to know if you want to connect to an external DAC play scsds? generally I think one bit machines do but don't hold me to that!
