Sony makes less noise

Which would you choose of the two, for mainly FM and AM with some SW does short wave have a lot of imaging from strong Am signals?

@@ashab1 I have a 9700DX and a SW11. I have never noticed any imaging from AM to shortwave on either radio. AM and FM on the SW11 are not very sensitive, so given that your primary interest is AM and FM I would get the 9700DX. It's not the most sensitive AM/FM radio you're going to find, but it's the more sensitive of the two.

this, or the frequency bandwidth of sony is narrow such that it doesn't include noise from surrounding frequencies.
