It's a Sony SLO1700 Betamax - I really like these machines - a real mix of proven (for the time) electronics mix of the SL-F1 and the SL-HF100 with extra panels and tweaks to make the profesional duplicator a tough machine.
From the thumbnail, can you tell which machine has the frosted and which has the clear meter lamps? Let me know in the comments.

SLO1700s becoming very rare nowadays and not seen much around. I have three of these and also three SLO1800s (NTSC). Back in the days there were plenty of SLO1800s that could easily be picked up on ebay but then they suddenly started to disappear. Its the same now with the SLO1700s, they are no where to be seen that much on any auction sites anymore... Excellent Video Alex....

Certainly a rare machine indeed. Would love to see a SLO1800 - really on the next level of duplication machines from what I've seen and read. Really glad you enjoyed the video too. 😊

Thank you! Similar to the T50 in some ways but quite a mix of the HF100 and C9/F1.

Interesting that they had enormous faith to to use the core mechanical deck of the sl-c9/sl-f1, the sl-hf 100s hi-fi drum and both various elements of the c9 & the 100 to create the SLO1700. Now if Sony had that much faith the SLOs mechanical deck and used it in the commercial decks we could have had some more interesting trick players than the well basic 100/150/77 Hi-Fi models.

Very true and the biggest thing was the unwrap for fast rewind and fast forward which was great! Only PAL Sony Betamax I know of that does that.

They are getting so rare now unfortunately. I assume they were used in the day in duplication farms?

It is a great machine. On the HF950 - does the standby light come on? Do you see SC constantly lit on the clock display? A couple of videos to come showing power issues very soon.
