exposed passive radiators > covered passive radiators if they're exposed you're able to push them very slightly when you play low frequency high bass music (I do that on my charge 4 to prevent them from having tears) only downside is chance of them being pushed in in an overpacked backpack

Listening with my lovely Xb32

The Xb-33 sounds amazing. Really the music sounds impeccable at 60%. Couldn’t quite judge at full volume over the camera but I bet in person it’s really good. But still these two speakers are amazing to own. I was really was considering buying it! but I own a XB-32 and want to purchase another one just so I can connect them together. But the annoying part is when the battery is running low and it cuts down to lower volumes. It sucks lol. but overall both are amazing speakers. They sounds really, really good. I’m going to look into the XB-43 see if it’s any better. Thanks for the vid!

I debated between the XB33 and the XB32, and bought a pair of XB32s today for TWS. ATM, I have a pair of Uboom. Decent for the price, sounds *much* better in stereo than a single Uboom, but limited in its performance. I decided on the XB32 for one reason - its form factor. A relatively small footprint and reasonable height with decent battery life. The XB33 isn't that much bigger, but enough to make a difference in my application. I'll try to post back with some impressions of the sound. Edit: I use the speakers with a Win10 laptop. The Sony Music Center is a bit different than the app. I'd auditioned the speakers with my phone playing with the sound modes, first, then after a few days switched to the laptop and configured the speakers as WASAPI. It sounded best to me. Still does. WASAPI doesn't allow for an EQ, or for switching modes manually. One can use the EQ in a standard mode, however. Again, I'm talking about a PC. The speakers are configured for max sound quality, not for the most stable connection. While the stereo config is very stable, I have to reset the pairing with the PC anywhere from 1-6 hours. Some folks may find it annoying. To me it's no big deal. I chose these speakers, in part, due to their battery life. They play for about 18 hours, which works out very well in my application. Sonically, other than a bit more bass than desired, nothing really stands out. That's a good thing. The presentation isn't as veiled as many other BT speakers that I'd auditioned, but not terribly exciting, either. Given good source material, they're more than listenable. I'm not unhappy.

the first thing that I found rather irritating were the exposed passive membranes... so, buying an additional hard shell seems mandatory for this model, at least I would need some definitely or they'd be pierced or otherwise messed up in no time. ...and then sony abandoned the analog aux in? ....plus not being able to pair with the earlier models? lol, I'd gladly stay with my xb32... they sound great, work flawlessly and are still in quasi mint condition after 2 years in rugged action. so, thanx for your insightful review :)

Stereo separation seemed a tad better in XB32 and so was the bass. But XB33 was louder and brighter.

I hear a huge difference in the mid to upper freq in the xb33. The xb32 has the same muffled sound the charge 4 does. The xb 33 sounds much clearer to me too. I also really dig the eq with sony. Im still rockin my flip 3 (its an absolute tank) so maybe ill wait for a sale to get the xb33, or until my flip dies.

You have to return the XB 33 and say you are returning it because it doesn't have an aux input.

The 3.5mm aux conector is very usefull for me. I used to connect mi win 10 laptop using the 3.5mm wire becasuse the bluetooth sucks on win 10..

I still think the 32 has a pretty respectable sound signature in comparison to the 33. Obviously, tweeters are a big improvement for a wider range of music, but I thought the 32 sounded quite comparable with the right songs!

The xb33 goes deeper but has a muffled sound. The xb32 sounds a bit tinnier. I don't know if EQ could correct either of these.

I just appreciate Sony for keeping two stereo drivers in they new portable speakers. people have mixed opinions about the XB33 but I think it sounds cleaner than XB32 but I'm gonna what for JBL Charge 5 and hopefully it's a stereo speaker setup but if not I'm done with JBL portable speakers.....

Since the Xb33 sounds brighter, it's sound could be closer to the Xb30.

What he's saying here is completely true about the hollow bass. It happenes with all Sony's. The bass is plastic. It's very tinny and echoey. True bass is supposed to hum without distortion and without any struggle Sony's speakers feel very cheep to the touch and the cone on the driver is very thin. The driver lip around the cone is very very weak too which is the reason to it being rare than the Sony speaker line up doesn't hum like the jbls do

Nice improvement from Sony. Improved clarity/definition in the upper frequencies and seems to maintain some decent lower frequency at full volume. Dare I say, close to a JBL sound signature. 😉

Like this guy... Said so, the best of the generation is the xb22, sound good, price good, no complaints, but this xb33 uh, well, like if you are into side bass radiators why Sony? JBL have been engineering that for years. Companies tend to erase their differences with the competition. Whatever. I stay with my beloved xb32.

Not enough of a sound improvement to move to the xb32 to the xb33...i personally love the sound of my xb32...plus who the heck listens to their speaker at 100%...at 80% is about all my head can handle...ill wait till the xb43 has a price drop probably around the holidays..that would be an upgrade worth buying...tweeters do make a noticeable difference in sound... I'll pass on the xb33..we will see also what jbl put out later this year too...
