Nice job, as always. I think it is a shame that JBL keeps raising there prices on old speakers. Especially on Amazon they really inflate the prices and put them on "sale" to make it look like you're getting a good deal.

I was so tempted to buy Pulse 4 because there's some on sale $70 cheaper than XB33. But now I understand it's worth paying extra for the XB33. THANKS 👍🏻
I just bought the Sony XB33 after swearing off Sony speakers in preference of JBL’s. However, the 1 transducer doesn’t match Sony’s XB33. Played the XB33 all day at work and I just loved how it sounded.
Big thanks for the review and comparisons. I'm so glad I waited to upgrade my flip 3, it has great mids and highs but almost no lows. I hoped the charge series would just be a bigger bassier (?) version of the flip but it sounds completely different (not in a good way either). I think it was a huge mistake on JBL's part to go to 1 bigger speaker vs 2 smaller ones, it sounds harsh now. The XB33 sounds great and I'm glad Sony finally stepped up their game.
MENESES It has a very low resonating bass. Especially when you place it in the corner of a room on a hard surface. If good deep bass is what you are looking for I don't think you could get any better than this at the same price.

2:50 On the XB33, the USB-C is actually wired up to the main SoC, though as of now, the only thing you can access through it is a firmware flashing interface. How to unlock that is left as an exercise for the reader.
I liked my Charge 4 a lot, but I killed it on my last beach trip. LPT: Don't try to charge the Charge 4 while playing music with it sitting in the hot sun. Also, JBL doesn't have any out of warranty 3rd party repair options in a lot of places, so this one may hit the landfill =/
Now that the Extreme 3 and Charge 5 are out, I'm grabbing a second Extreme 2 and Charge 4 for way cheaper. I don't mide being a bit behind especially since now BT speakers are good all around while only making slight improvements.
im good with my ue wonderboom. That thing is crazy i have had it for about 2 years ish and i have put it through more shit than i ever have any other electronic. the wonderboom is a truly durable speaker.
Neeraj Singh , I have a little Sony x 2, sounds good too. My son XB 3, he is in love with it. Sony had made a lot speakers in the past years, of course the brand has learned of their mistakes. I have too a Sony LBT A15, it has 25 years and still sounds fantastic

The JBL Soundstage sounds woefully narrow at max volume based on this test. The Sony sounds like it has the widest soundstaging and good bass at max volume. Still using a srs x55 from like 4 years ago and I never use it above 70% volume.

Sony sounds clearer, louder, and more bass. Just overall better. I bought two xb33s and I love them. Wondering if I should get two 43s as well. Is it worth it or am I already good with the 33s?
You online reviewers are the spoken word of God rn because I can't go test out speakers at my local best buy because they aren't accepting walk-ins. If you get a chance can you do a quick comparison of the new xb series to each other? Really interested to see how the xb33 holds up to the 43.

It might not be that much of a upgrade like there is so far like the boombox is a little more louder then before and the flip 5 is a little more louder then before and the charge 5 might do the same thing and say shut up and here you and price gouge us americans if that happens just keep the charge 4 and the charge 4 is louder but the xb33 has little more low end and bass overall but doesn’t sound muffled.
I tried so hard to convince myself to buy jbl but they just dont sound good. I never felt spending tht much for jbl... i hv srs xb 13 which has way better sound than any speaker. I m gonna hear and consider xb33
JBL charge 4 has an extra bass mode called low frequency mode. You press and hold the Volume down button and the bluetooth button at the same time until you see a ring of light. This is not good for using it a lot since the speaker can get warm and can distort while in this mode.
you know what gets me is he doesn't even talk about the live function it's a game changer sounds waaay better esp using the built in app eq I understand out of box settings but why not show what it can do and can't do be fair about it

for the sound quality, Anker Soundcore Motion+, DOSS Soundbox XL or Harman Kardon Onyx Studio. tho all of them are not portable per se (Anker's is IPX7 but not the rest) small enough nonetheless. JBL sounds like a stripped down Harman Kardon. Sony is, well, I don't know, XB33 & XB43 doesn't sound that good other than having some muffled "thump" due to their passive radiators just my opinion BTW
Can you please add the Soundcore Motion Plus to this comparison? It is one of THE most underrated speakers and it offers the 3.5mm jack input, 12 hour battery which I have been able to reach, solid instrument separation, great EQ in the app, and USB-C charging. You can also charge your devices with it and it has the Hi-Res certification which I tested with my direct audio connection. Amazing speaker!! Please review it, it would be appreciated since it’s $99 asking price is deceiving and sounds like a $200 speaker!
Agree with you, I just bought one after seeing the reviewed one in Oluv's Gadget channel. I think it sounds wayy better compared to a more expensive XB33 which only excels in bass (not that good either in that regards. Even HK Onyx sounds better than XB43)
Nice review. I have XB33 more than a year now and it's an awesome speaker. I noticed that there is software update for the speaker, but I didn't wanna update it yet, can someone tell me is it better after update? In Sony app I have all three eq sliders all the way up because it is pretty louder when needed. I don't wanna lose that ability after update. Thanks
did u ever update mine says there's an update but it says to charge battery to update and my battery's full and plugged up says same.thing doesn't make sense if you updated did it change anything or sound better ? I love mine !!
@@wolfpacak47 No I didn't update. That's strange, AFAIK it should update when it's charging. If you didn't succeed yet in updating, try reinstalling Sony app and pair again with speaker and try update it while speaker is plugged in charger. Hope that helps.
hey I just plugged it up and tried it again it updated everything seems to be the exact same except I think it shows battery percentage in app now all is good 😊
I'm glad you did it successfully, I think it showed battery percentage in app before also, I will check when I get home. So the sound is same as before? Does it get louder when you swipe up all three sliders in eq settings?
Hoping you can help.... I use the jbl charge 3 for music on the road on a high power electric scooter but at 40mph and a full helmet its not loud enough. I need something noticeably louder then the charge 3 and with 4-6 hr's play time at max volume. I'm looking at the w-king, motion boom, and bugani,but don't know of many speakers either so.... any opinions would be great..... TRULY APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET!! THANK YOU
I bought jbl 4. After few month battery got drained within 10min sound burst problem. They serviced it but again same problem after few months. Not goin to buy again jbl. Which brand i should go sony anker UE or marshall embertan????
Which one goes louder maxed out with bass? I bought the JBL Charge 4 and it is great but I just wish it went a little LOUDER! Will the XB33 fix this problem (going louder) without losing bass quality??? Thx....P.S. I can return the Charge 4 but need an answer ASAP!!! Thx
@@gc8781 how is that not a good thing? I'm not even a hardcore audiophile but being able to use clearer audio files is kind of important to a speaker. A song in Mp3 format is laughable compared to the same song in flac form. Sometimes you actually wanna hear how the artist envisioned their song to sound like fully.
I liked my jbl charge 3 but it has multiple problems after only 3 years of VERY gentle use, so I no longer feel confident in the brand and will be going with the Sony.
SONY for the win imho. The design and build matches the JBL charge 4, but has superior sound and app. I've made my decision about which one to buy.....the XB33.

Sony es mejor , duración de batería diseño! y en sonido charge 4 comparación a X b33 suenan parecido pero en exteriores se escucha mejor el Sony ya que tengo los dos altavoces y esa es mi experiencia cada ves que tengo que usarlos para la playa oh deporte de basketball
GYMCADDY if you didn’t know there was a update for all the new speakers the xb23 gets better bass, the xb43 and idk about the xb33 but they get more louder then before and there was a battery issue on the xb23 and xb33 and xb43 that they fixed in there patch notes. And to update it you have to plug it in
