Good job! The difficulty for repairing an analog device such as the cassette deck is that you have not enough test tape for various calibration for recovery.

The late 90's was the peak of cassette technology. After that all the major manufacturers raced to lead the digital era and forgot their investment in the cassette market. C'est la vie.

Very advanced maintenance! Good! I would only have changed the two pinch rollers that looked a bit "shiny", full of tape debris on the rubber. At least you could grind them with extra fine sandpaper.
Actually it would be better to change them as you said, the (more plastic than) rubber material used for them has become very hard and the tape slips and skews

hmm, this whole unit disassembly and wash, why? not sure about it. Regarding robber/belts - use latex gloves, this liquefied robber and nasty sticky and dirty, as for cleaning, don’t need to use this interesting way with sand and alcohol, just use cotton balls with acetone. One of the new round belt you installed are not apropriate for this and need to be replaced with square smaller diameter belt. Heads worn out alot, need to be replaced, as well as pinch rollers.
The capstans in this model appear to use a flat belt and the idlers use a standard square type. Both of which are available on eBay in various sizes to suit most decks.
I wonder what year this copy is. Wonderful layout of modules. It's a pleasure to repair such a thing. Recently repaired the tape recorder "Mayak - 232" model 1984. To replace the lubrication of the rollers had to be disassembled to the condition as in the video. RU. Интересно какого года этот экземпляр. Замечательная компоновка модулей. Такой ремонтировать одно удовольствие. Недавно ремонтировал магнитофон "Маяк -232" модель 1984 года. Чтобы заменить смазку роликов пришлось разобрать до состояния как на видео.

Oh I wanna ask you a question. is it possible to polish heads in such a deck? In case it's heavily worn in use. I've seen a video on another youtube channel with reel to reel recorders restoration and that person who did it told that in a lot of cases it is possible to gently polish the head with some high grit polishing paste against piece of glass for example in order to restore or at least improve its surface. Is it possible with cassette deck heads? New head is a rare thing nowadays.
@@manstuckonhishead but it is intended to remove some residue etc. It's not going to restore geometry. It may work good on kitchen appliances or metal sinks to clean
@@manstuckonhishead Thank you so much. I just have never replaced the belts in cassette deck. I used to do this in reel to reel tape recorders a couple of times but never looked inside of a cassette deck. To me it's a new world so your video is very interesting and professional. I only think that you should have removed the remains of dead belts using petroleum instead of izopropanol. I believe it should remove rubber yet doing nothing to plastic.

Egy kérdésem lenne, mert tanácstalan vagyok : a Sony TC-WE705S deckemen szíjcsere után is túlpörög a kazettaszalag a leállítás után. Tehát megáll a szalag, de a "hátsó" része nem fékeződik le, tehát "utánafolyik" a megállt "elejének", felhurkolódik a kazetta belsejébe egyre hosszabban. És itt nincs szalagfék, mint az orsós magnókon. Mindkét magnórésznél ugyanúgy. Semmi törést nem látok belül, kb. 1 óra lejátszás után mindíg ez a hiba, aztán a felhurkolódott szalagot elkezdi rátekerni a továbbítótengelyre, stb.
