More like what took Sony so long. Sony was getting complacent with their small speakers, which were just average in the sound department. They had to add the tweeter bc JBl was beating Sony at the bt speaker game.
Agree that’s when they where actually competing with JBL but apparently these new speaker or competitors too so finally competition is always good(xb30 and xb41) was the good speakers
I pulled the trigger and got one while I was in Japan because I forgot my XB-23! I have the predecessor (it-that-not-be-named) but refuse to bring it anywhere because that one sounds like rubbish. BHA hit the nail on the head - that Xtra Euseless series is terrible! If you have a JBL Flip 6 or Charge, this is probably going to feel like the one speaker that might make you want to upgrade. It certainly sounds better than my JBL Flip 6 and competes with the Charge on power but is smaller than the latter. The only thing that might stop you from changing is the group pairing ability - I.e. "party mode" because if you and your friends are already in that ecosystem, that's one thing that this sony currently has a limit to.. So, the only thing that is somehow missing is the party connect feature.. it's a big miss, but if you aren't likely to need to pair it with the other party connect speakers anyway, then who cares? Most people think they need it but really won't actually use it. Plus, this speaker is plenty powerful on its own! Bottom line: this is probably the best small to mid size portable speaker in the market. Get it if you don't mind the limits to pairing with other speakers since it only currently works with other ULT 1s...
The no mic is a big let down for me. I been runing the xb33 and xb13. The 33 on the handlebars of my Talaria MX4 the 13 clipped to my bag they sound great under 25mph not to loud but I was content with it. The 1 thing i did love though was the mic doing 50mph wearing a helmet people can hear me. Not sure if this is a deal breaker or not. I just got the clip 5 or 6(newest model) and the xb100 after my xb13 finally started to crackle thats after 2years playing at FULL volume rain and show cold and hot. The clip for sure projects more you hear them highs the xb100 has better bass but it wont connect at all to my xb33 not through the music center app or simply using my Samsung Android phones feature of allowing multiple speakers. So now im thinking charge 5 or this sony.. ill also miss the light from the 33 😢
It's no longer in stereo, if you have two speakers in front of you the one without duel speakers in stereo is very!! Noticeable, you lose that immersive sound
i still refuse to accept the fact that field1 is the successor of xe200, field1 is the successor of xb23! field1 is the successor of xb23! field1 is the successor of xb23! and holy shit xe is literal shit it's right there in front of you but it sounded like neighbour's speaker. i doubt it's existence is to make field1 looked like a major upgrade in so many aspects. also made me buying 2020xb23 last year looked like a proud thing to do.
I think one of your biggest flaws when reviewing these units is when you use 50% volume or 100% volume as a messure of volume. Because % s not a measure of volume.. when comparing battery life especially between different models - you need to compare battery life for the same decibel level. 50% on 1 unit will be different to 50% on another. You could consider using decibels or other appropriate measurement.
Sony XG300 is much bigger and better: more bass, fuller sound, stereo, and much more features like aux in, lights, party connect, live sound... at the currenty price you got much more value for money with the XG300. It is much heavier and bigger though, so if you want something small to take with you everywhere, the ult 1 is a fine companion with a better size/weight to sound ratio.
I own both, I received the ULT 1 yesterday and I can say both are pretty good. Of course the xg300 is more powerful, more specs but both sounds very well
I’m gonna have to agree with you the Sony XE 200 and the X300 were terrible. I had both of them and I ended up giving one to my granddaughter and sending the other one back. I couldn’t even listen to music on and they were so bad.
Awesome video finally it’s explained, what is in the ULTRA field one thanks I’m getting the orange one love the color for Father’s Day and yes like to see the ULTRA 300 the XE SERIES SHOULD OF HAD TWEETERS THEY WERE LACKING CLARITY THE XG300 I liked good speaker but I can’t wait to get this one ULT1
