I understand why, in many channels, people choose JBL, and it is a music choice problem. But when you like to listen, music with 5 to 6 instruments, and you want to distinguish them, you defenetly should get the Sony... I found this difference in the hard way, comparing my 150 usd senheiser, with the 400 usd beats....
Precisely in this xtreme I noticed such instruments separation, the Sony raises some instruments but weaker ones are inaudible with the midrange resonance
@@jcmolero71 So you're saying the xtreme offers more sound stage? Do you by chance know if the charge also does it? Over here in Germany the Sony's are around 180-200 for some reason, the xtreme is about 250-300 and the charge is around the sony pricing.
@@Daniel-dj7fh I say yes, because tweeters taking the upmost of the mids help in that, being HF channels. Charge is a mono speaker so it needs 2 of them
I just tested at Best Buy. Easily Sony had the better, more mature sound. Those who don't know audio will hear isolated loud highs and lows and assume the JBL is better. It is not. Adjust the EQ on the Sony and it is far better, far more detailed. The JBL tone is fatiguing after about 30 seonds. Pssss Boooom Pssss Boooom.
Sony is good but has a shorter life expectancy on the battery then jbls and u can pair up to 100 speakers with the jbls u can’t do that with Sony and jbl has more yearly revenue then Sony when it comes to speakers as Bose and jbl are the 2 top brands of portable speakers
I have the sony, this is the first video I have come across that more accurately shows how it sounds, other videos creators, they make it sound muffled, very biased towards jbl.
I'm listening to this through my Sony XG300 and its the clear winner. I used to be a fan of jbl, but after spending $300 on their gaming headset only for it to sound like absolute trash, I gave up on jbl.
For me the sound quality is not terribly different between them. Of course sound signatures can be highly subjective, but I feel the sound quality difference between them is subtle. Ultimetly they both sound good imho. S o it's about the features for me. And for me the integrated handle, the ability to take calls, the battery care, fast charge, longer battery life, and subtle lights would make me choose the Sony XG300.
I need a speaker mainly for work, closed compartment. Also I don't want to annoy other visitors when going on a bbq on a lake. Also I don't listen to techno so I have to look on other specs like LDAC support, multi pairing, eq settings possibilities and latency. The Sony is the clear winner here. I also heard that Sony pushed some great software updates for those speakers. I think I'm gonna get one
Yeah man. I don't really know much about these two but the sound separation listening to these two with my eyes closed. The sony gets me everytime. Its more balanced. True JBL is louder and brighter sound but at times it can be too bright.
An untouched aspect I look at is, the handles over time. I feel like the JBL's clip on & detachable strap is cool and all, but also likely to be either misplaced or not handy at desirable times, unless it's always on. Meanwhile I suspect, just a hunch, a handle that retracts which Sony is sporting is more likely to simply wear out, maybe not quickly, but moreso than other design options. Ultimately it lends itself to portability over time, and with speakers that after tax are near enough $400 that's something to really consider. Also there may be something to the weight difference, however a heavier speaker to a lot of people is just viewed as more substantial feeling. Really, for nearly $400 I wouldn't want a lightweight speaker.
jbl, and i got jbl speakers and listening to the videothrough a SONY XG500! but the jbl has more bass and highs. i dont really care for the extreme3. i got motion boom plus and tribit blast, i got alot of speakers!! lmfao!! good review!!
Whatpeople dont know: sony works much better for pairing 2 (or more) speakers. While Sony allows a range of about 10 meters between paired speakers for a stable conection, JBL allows only 5 meters. So you can much better use stereo pairing by putting speakers in oppsite sides of the room or cover much more space with paryt connect at e.g. a garden party
I had two xb43, one xg 500 and one xp700 they all paired up together quite nicely and with no latency between each other.But getting them to pair up in the first place was the hardest part.
Xtreme3 goes deeper than the XG-300...i like a type of bass that i can feel...the rumbling, if u kw wt i mean. Sony is all about upper bass...i love deep bass(Xtreme3)
I had bought the xg 300 1st & right out the box I was so disappointed. The sound quality was just straight out flat. I was recommended by a Best Buy employee & was told that it was really good but i literally ended up returning it the same day. I even played around with the EQ on the Sony app & there really wasn’t that much features to do but It still didn’t change anything. I went to Walmart the same day bc I saw they had a good deal on the X3 & decided to do a comparison between the 2 & right off the bat the X3 just has everything that I’m looking for in a speaker , loudness, base , perfect size & strap to make carrying way easier. Even tho I payed like $35 more it was well worth it. The JBL is hands down unbeatable
Two questions. These units are considered stereo? Can I hook either of these units to the BlueTooth on my Samsung TV, and be able to control the volume via the TV?
If you will watch videos/movies definitely get the Sony , Sonys bluetooth speakers have low latency for audio in videos. Other bluetooth speakers has higher latency which is bad for videos. Higher latency will have trouble keeping up with sounds to what's happening on video like people talking an it's not matching up with a person's lips..
I've always loved my X-Extreme, it will pound out your puchiest tunes and even move the floor a little, it is a good speaker however... I am a musician and enjoy all genres especially classical guitar and symphonic recordings and unfortunately the JBL is far too muddy for the finer styles of musical performance. Needless to say I was very disappointed (I purchased new for $250) so in response I did a little research and purchased an Ankor Soundcore 2 (love the names here). JBL boasts duel 20 watt speakers while the Ankor is only 8 watts ×2, nevertheless, the JBL is virtually useless for anything other than heavy bass tunes and even then you get robbed with the higher registers, it just isn't a good overall choice for across the board preferences. The smaller Soundcore 2 really surprised me with how good this little speaker really is and for under $30 you simply cannot go wrong and it is a product I recommend for the budget minded. Now, (I'm unintentionally digressing here, bare with me) as much as I enjoy my Ankor it really pained me to see the JBL essentially rendered dormant so I loaned it out and began research on its replacement and my choice was (you guessed it) Sony's xg300 and I could not be more pleased. In my opinion there's really no comparison, the Sony is hands down the superior quality. Not because of the additional features like rotating lights which you can toggle and a "mega boost" button plus a built-in carry strap vs the kinda awkward removable strap on your JBL. I'm sorry folks, the JBL, although a beautiful product is just too muddy for a lot of music. The Sony is a far better choice, you will NOT be disappointed and with a more reasonable price. Sony and Ankor demonstrate what can be achieved with less power but more sophisticated drivers. The world of digital hi-res multi-point sound has arrived and I for one couldn't be more excited. Next I'll review the Bose Soundlink Flex which I purchased at the same time, haven't even unboxed it yet because I'm still in awe of the 300 but something tells me (including tons of reviews) it will not disappoint!
@@jedvaulten02 lol i dont think so. if youre saying something as stupid as that from a video recording and didnt hear that in real life, youre simply another fanboy who goes for brand and not the quality. ive been around jbl since their flip 2 was out. and sadly heard sony speakers over the years. the only time sony reached the closest to jbl was with the XB43 which was a competition for the xtreme 3, and still lost to it. their new XG,XE,XP speakers are the worst so far, the best of them is the XG500 which gets destroyed even by the boombox 2 so theres not much to talk about. if youre a playstation fanboy so you think sony also makes good speakers youre a sad situation.
As good as the video is, you can't tell the difference in sound quality in A very reliable way just based off A video, But from what I can tell, Sony wins when it comes to sound quality, at least based off of my preference. JBL has more pronouncement - that's true, but at the same time its overpronounced, sounds a bit artificial and not true to how the music actually is meant to sound like. Especially if you were to listen to more instrumental music like classical\Jazz\Metal. Overpronouncement can be good when you're listening to something more "simple" and less crowded with sound (like the music you compared in the video). I'm sure that if you're looking for more pronouncement, it's more than achievable with the amount of tweaks that the Sony app gives. Way bigger battery life (Which means the battery will most likely survive for more years to come), wider range of options and perks, better interface (imo) and better app. Sony edges out the JBL - Especially if you listen to more instrumental music. I'm also pretty sure that LDAC isn't supported on the JBL while on Sony its pretty much A given. I'd go for the Sony.
@@zadongaming2962 Same here. I like a more balanced sound. Sony gives some bass without overpowering other frequencies. It actually sounds better that way to tell you the truth. I feel too much bass gets fatiguing after a while, at least for me. I have this speaker and it's awesome. Also have XM5 headphones. You could call me a Sony fanboy. It's not surprising that Sony makes great audio products, especially the higher end products, they do specialize in audio after all.
@@Hansolo2048 I don't find bass specifically fatiguing, but I do appreciate when the sound is more true to how the music is supposed to sound like - especially because I go from listening to speaker to balanced audiophile headphones (Sennheiser HD660s) with dac + amp. I do see A reason for A speaker like the JBL to exist, it does fit and deliver well specifically when it comes to electronic\Pop music. Definitely less audiophile friendly though (although it's subjective, most audiophiles prefer A flatter EQ) I don't really hold any brand loyalty when it comes to my purchases - after I've compared the two I did go for the Sony speaker. Right now I'm rocking the Sony XG300, the Schiit Hel, the sony xm4s and the Sennheiser HD660s. Thinking about Getting the HIFIMAN ananda as my next pair, and maybe pairing it with a schiit Valhalla. 😀
@@zadongaming2962 I looked online and wow, xg 300 has about 12 hour longer battery life than xtreme 3. battery life depends on volume tho. Or is volume a big factor in battery life?
I have a feeling that the sonys has more mids. But a different question, how well does the bass come through at lower volumes. Some speakers tend to cut it off, or my old Soundcore Active lowered the volume when bass was hitting. I'm gonna mainly use the speakers for my pc, I'd like more bass depth, but don't listen too loud since the speakers would be about ~1m away from me. My soundcore2's atm sound really nice but to get some bass they have to be around 70% volume which is abit too loud imo.
To me, the JBL Extreme sounded like it was better at producing deeper bass. The Extreme also sounded a bit clearer. If I had to choose between these two, I'd probably opt for the JBL Extreme.
the xtreme sounded miles better than the sony, you can see that reviewers like oluv dont even review sony speaker because its not even at the level of comparing it to the main companies like jbl tribit and soundcore

@@simefestin your'e describing it in the wrong way, the sony sounds too flat. the highs are not opened and crisp, its like the tweeters are covered with layers of fabric and blocks the sound... the jbls have an eq, you can lower the highs and it will sound just as flat

Better at what? I had both and sony is over, how can you say that jbl is better? Even in this video it is clear that sony is superior, it has much better bass and superior clarity. At maximum volume jbl is a mess at its price.
Hey my man, was hoping you could answer my question here.. I have a van(like a ups truck but smaller) its an old 79 with an old motor and I have a lot of noise in the cab as its just all metal.. Would either of these be loud enough to hear over my road noise? Let me give some examples of where my bar is. I have multiple little speakers from altec jam etc.. the loudest I have currently would be the jam plus set up with two of them in L and R Mono config. Its barely over the noise level of the van. Those speakers are old and they have this intermittent cutout most likely from the metal surrounding or the engine frequencies itself. Trying to use a bluetooth speaker for audio and not install a bunch of stuff. Sorry for the long comment just trying to get an idea how loud this really is.
@CEONTHEMAKING so after some digging, I decided to go with 2 "renewed" charge 5s. Gpt both for $200. My spacing is a bit limited so I think these will fit better in my space. pairing the 2 should cover me. Atleast I hope so. If not I can return. Sony seeker is a banger like jbl total different from each other but still epic yes sony cheeper but it ain't slacking on this one I'm glad I baught the sony it's bass still packs a punch can't really tell on vid
The only time u can make different between sony and JBL is play the music that support LDAC or any Hi quality and also u need a special ears. I always recommend LDAC or Hi-res speaker because I studying music in University and we need to hear all the details in the music. JBL not bad just the sound is little bit mix together and it's hard for me to hear the details, I had 2 Charge 5 and 1 pulse 4 for party use.

@@xplanetarymusic Tested in the store many jbl speaker and best jbl speaker is clip 4 and the worse is charge 3/charge 4 they don't worth half the money that they asking for and charge 5 nothing special on the lower volume is okay and when you raise the volume you notice that is only average speaker in that class sony is much better.
