I used a clothing iron over a thin layer of fabric to heat up and remove the backside. Took like 10 seconds. Tip if you don't have a heat gun or hair dryer.

Thank you so much for the video! Very precise! Do you know if there is many water indicators inside, and if so, where they are? (The small white marks that turn red when in contact with water) I have found three on the "outside" one located inside/behind each of the three cover flaps (usb, simcard and SD). How do the Sony- technicians know of water- contact apart from the three i have located?

Thanks for the video! What about replacement of lcd which comes integrated with front frame? Do I have to tear almost whole phone apart? I didn't note how you removed front frame - are there any screws or sth? And is there a way to plug all connectors when I try to put lcd with frame on its place? I want to avoid using glue tapes - I replaced screen once that way and after few months it comes out of a frame...

Hey Wit Rigs :) I have a question regarding the main microphone at the bottom. Mine is broken so I ordered the according part online. Can one simply tear it off the mainboard? how is it connected? glued? clicked on? Thanks in advance :) Great video so far by the way!

it is soldered on 4 points. You will nead a heat gun for that. Mine is also bad

Hi, great video! I've a question, my SXZ1C is out, because I tried to take pictures under water. But i can load it and when i connect my headphones and when I press the button to start the music itself starts, i think is not the motherhead but the screen.. What do you think ?

Hi witrigs! First of all Thank you for this nice video. The vibrator on my phone doesn't work all the time. I looked it up on google and found out that i probably have a loose contact on the connector. Is it necessary to remove the thin plastic frame after removing the battery or can i reach it without removal? In another comment you said that the phone is not waterproof anymore after teardown. Does the removal of the backcover really destroy waterproofness if i use a new Sticker for the back? Thank you!

blubberfisch Fistly, yes, you can replace it wihout removing the frame. And secondly, the phone can only keep waterproof after replaced by the professional phone maintenace personnel with the orginal and new replacement parts.

For changing the loudspeaker in the z1 compact, would i need to replace the adhesive when changing the speaker out for a new one? And is there anything else tricky i should know when making that repair?

+elaeroplano Both of them are made to be waterproof and have perfect performance, but are sold at different prices. There surely are some differences as to the configurations. From z1 compact to z3 compact, the screen size rises from 4.3 inches to 4.6 inches, the battery rises from 2300mAh to 2600mAh, but the weight is down from 137g to 129g. Of course, sony z3c is more portable, with its configuration update, such as front camera rises from 2.0 MP to 2.2MP, more convenience for pictures. Hi there! Nice video! I have one question. I just replace my lcd display and my camera is doesnt working :( sxz1c is over heating in top near camera and battery is fast discharged. When I was removing lcd I damaged gold tape on LCD shield (18:27min on Your film). What do U think? That is the issue? Please help any hints welcome!:) Greets

Bacon Pancakes I have the same problem with mic. Look at 6:50, when he removes loudspeaker, Mic is on the left corner of motherboard. Big rectangle with white borders. It must be with a metal cover, but it falls off often. You can buy microphone on ebay, it costs about 5 EUR

+Gex Schenn You just need to open the back cover and reomve some parts like back frame and battery on the middle housing firstly.

Hi there, do you know if it is possible to remove a screen without breaking it? I got a replacement screen and asked a phone shop to replace it thinking they were gonna get the proper glue and they didn't so the new screen is slightly loose and, I think needs doing again with the proper glue. But obviously I don't want to risk breaking the screen!

+abdelmonem mohamed Only when the phone is replaced by the professional with original replacement parts, can the phone be waterproof again. It is hard to make sure its water resistance if it is a DIY repair work.

It's the NFC antenna. You can remove it from your old battery and apply it to the new battery in the exact same position

Hello, my gps module doesn't workat all (satellites are visible but the phone is not locking to them and apps like GPS Test doesn't show strength of GPS signal) is there anything i can do about it ? Xperia user guide says that gps module is located somewere near the 3.5 mm jack connector, which part is it and can it be replaced ?

+Rodrigo Santos The NFC is attached to the battery with adhesive. Just tear it off from the old battery and make it stick to the new battery with some like 3M adhesive sticker. Be careful and make sure of its alignment.

+Edwardo Malicse - I guess it would, but you'd have to make sure there isn't the slightest gap. Professionals have better ways of putting phones back together, so water-resistant devices keep their IP certification.

I gave my Xperia Z5 to Carphone Warehouse (a phone retailer) to repair when the charger port was glitching (Carphone gave me a REFURBISHED Z5, even though I bought a new one) and after they gave it back, I heard a bit of a squeak whenever I squeezed the phone... -.- Thankfully, I got a new one from them.

Amber Gupta The power button flex got loosen or was broken, www.witrigs.com/oem-side-button-flex-for-sony-xperia-z1-compact.You have to tear the phone down for check. BTW, the phone will not be waterproof after teardown.

Money Nguyễn The steps to replace the z1c camera lens is similar to the z2. You need to remove the back cover firstly and then pull out the camera lens.
