as they say... the best camera is the one you have. but I would say that a camera where you can get that nice depth of field only helps with the nice eye catching shots

actually I don't think I shot in a PP for this one, just the straight out of camera shots with some minor adjustments in post.

to be honest i can't remember I don't think i strayed far from the standard profile and then just tweaked it a bit in post

I would say that these two cameras aren't apples to apples. The better camera is probably the A7II because it is a full frame sensor and you can use different lenses to get the shot you want. If you want a camera that is compact and works great right out of the box and still allows a lot of manual control then I would say the ZV-1. Since you say you are a beginner then I would probably lean toward the ZV-1.
