Lots of good points! The a7cii looks promising based on specs leaks but the one worry I have is the rolling shutter, which is likely to be the same as that of the a7iv. Made me not wait and go for the zv-e1 as I wanted a video oriented cam.

Well thought out video. There is 2 identical red indicator lights on the camera. One is the recording tally lamp. The other is the "writing to card" light. When you stop recording, that light will still be going for a second or 2, but its not the same as the recording light. also I believe 4K is 8.5MP. what I know for sure is the cam pixel bins so that you can digitally zoom in 0.5x using any lens and still maintain 4K quality :) Its called "Clear Image Zoom" in the zoom mode settings, but it only works when "Dynamic Active Stabilization" is off. Great video. Waiting on a7c ii to compare. I mostly do video but want to take some photos on trips or of my new baby coming in October. How are the photos for primarily social media? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on the new baby that’s awesome!! When it comes to photos, the downside of the ZV-E1 is that it doesn’t have a mechanical shutter. So indoors you’ll probably run into a lot of issues with flickering lights, banding and those type of artifacts. There is a variable shutter feature, and an anti-flicker feature in the ZV-E1, but it’s really designed for those one off situations. IMO it doesn’t replace a proper mechanical shutter. The only thing that might be another issue too is the resolution 12 megapixels-I think it’s perfect for social but some may find that they would want more resolution if they start heavily editing their photos. But in terms of video, it would be perfect if not, for the thermals. Hope that helps And appreciate you checking out the video!

yeah, I'll wait until a7cii announcement before finally deciding which camera is going to be my travel one, its going to be either 6700 (already have apsc glass) or zv-e1 or a7cii. overheating and overall low megapixel count definitely something to consider in regards to zv-e1, and its whopping price on top of that. otherwise really good sensor for low light.

Exactly! It’s safe to assume that all three will have some sort of overheating condition…It’s just to what degree. And if the overheating will be more or less the same for all three, personally, I would rather go with a full frame hybrid camera for traveling. Especially considering the price of the zv-e1.. Can’t wait to see how the A7c ii pans out. Thanks for checking out the video.

So, the a7cii was released. What do you think? I just bought the zv-e1, dont come yet, but I'm little afraid that made the wrong choice because of overheat. What tranquilizes me is, if the overheat do not grow as a problem to me, i have the 4k60 uncrop, possibility of 4k120 uncrop, low light performance and dynamic active stabilization. I do not make photos anyway.

Hey thanks for checking out the video... My initial thoughts about the A7Cii after watching a few hands-on reviews from others.. I think that its a huge update from the A7C.. and depending on what one's need is, it maybe better than the ZV-E1.. Good news for those that know the Zv-E1 is more for them, is that 3rd party accessory makers are making fans for the ZV-E1. So theres always that to fall back on.. but for many, overheating isn't going to be a problem depending on how they use the camera. I'll be sharing more thoughts on the A7Cii, A7Cr and ZV-E1 in upcoming videos.. But Congrats on the Zv-E1!! its an outstanding camera for its image quality.

The rumor mill has it that the A7cii is gonna be quite pricey so idk how much of a better option it’ll be. Might have better thermals but it’ll introduce the limitations of the A7IV sensor. We shall see

It's way to easy to end up with an A6700, ZV-1, A7C II, A7 IV, and god knows what other model. What about external recording? Does it overheat when on a tripod with dummy battery?

I’m going to shot longer sessions, podcast. I would like a Sony camera. I would like the capability to plug it in so I don’t have to worry about batteries and not overheating. My budget Is 5k and in that I would like to have a lens and memory card. The battery cable to plug in to wall🔌 Bag 💼 also. Please recommend me ? Thank you. You have a really good show.
