Your clear and simple tutorials are very good. I know a more than camera basics but I'm often surprised at how many vloggers are not clear or precise on their instructions and I think the video is probably too quickly spoken or unclear for people who are new to cameras. You don't have that issue with your presentation. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Swink, really appreciate the kind feedback:) This sort of thing is really helpful and reassuring for checking I’ve calibrated what I’m trying to do in a way that’s helpful for the audience! I only got into cameras and videography big time 6 months ago when I started the channel to stave off the isolation of pandemic restrictions, so I really try to give info that would have most helped myself in those early days of learning:) Thanks as always for watching and have a great day 👍

This was SUPER helpful. Thanks! I didn't really understand that "end trigger" thing before, but now that you cleared it up, it might be huge for me. I'm trying to capture small spiders striking prey, and you don't know the exact moment it's going to happen, so that might be the answer.

Great tips 👍. I agree about shutter speed. As long as it is not less then fps its fine to use slower shutter speed. Problem is if your shutter speed is 1/50 and you film at 100 fps for example your footage is not going to look better then 50 fps. I would say shoot in 1/1 ratio shutter speed and you are fine for everything greater then 30fps.

Hey AV, great to hear from you and again some solid analysis- thanks for sharing. Agree generally; at lower framer rates I usually aim for the 180 degree shutter rule or sometimes higher but at super high frame rates you end up with hardly any light so have to adapt somehow 😂 Hope you’re doing well and having a good day 👍

@@Premier_lawns_official Then thank you so much! I totally relate to your second point. I started this channel to help stay sane during lockdown and invested a few weeks later in the ZV1 when I was getting frustrated with the limits of filming on my smartphone. I think you'll do great once you persevere as it's a really capable little camera and I've really enjoyed getting to understand it (and videography more broadly). Initial user friendliness sure is not the best though. Let me know if there's any kind of questions or content that would help as you're exactly the type of person I'm hoping to assist with my experience:)

In terms of Sony cameras that can shoot this type of ultra slow motion there aren’t many cheaper option I’m afraid. However don’t be surprised if the next Apple & top end android phones allow up to 240fps slomo (the ‘least extreme’ of the ZV1 options)

@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
So normal slow mo (100 or 120fps) does need to be slowed down in post production. Depending on your editing software many can do this with just a couple of clicks:)

Hi great tutorial i wonder can you help me i have the same camera but i have lines flickering is it the lighting or settings i need to adjust ...thanks in advance 🙏
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey Urban Cook, thanks for the nice comment and the great question. Light flicker is a problem with artificial lights which are powered by the mains electricity (plug sockets). There’s an explanation in more detail on flicker in this video on low light tips: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sGS17Cy5AOE.html If you’re able to use continuous light sources (LED lights are often good for this, anything designed for video or photo work like ring lights etc) that should help eliminate flicker. You can also try battery powered light sources like a portable lights, lantern etc or natural light (sun, fire) as none of those should cause flicker. Last thing to be aware of, as shutter speed gets higher flicker gets worse so ultra slowmo is particularly vulnerable-there’s not much you can do in camera since you’ll be anywhere from 1/250 to 1/1000 shutter as your lowest option, so the best solution is to try and manage light sources instead. Hope that helps, let me know if you have other Qs:) Thanks for watching, consider subscribing if you like this sort of content and have an awesome day 💪👍

Ok so I’m subbed on my personal account now (leaderoftheproject) and just dropped a like on your asparagus poached egg vid. Really liked it:) quality is good, like the style of making the ingredients the star, music and font fit the style well and DAMN I looks tasty 😆 Only a couple of thoughts: there’s a couple of bits with asparagus where the camera tries to focus on your hand instead so you get a pulsing effect. If you want to eliminate that you can set your camera up in a fixed spot get the autofocus at the right distance (like on the pan) and then switch to manual focus and it will lock that focus for you. You can set up a shortcut button to switch auto to manual focus so it’s a breeze. The other one is just a thought, but for some stuff like chopping you could throw in a timelapse effect or speed up the footage if you wanted to. Not necessary but might be a nice effect to see how everything comes together. I actually covered both things in a vid (these are genuinely my thoughts rather than trying to push an old vid 😆) in case useful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9zwIur02jHo.html I intend to check out some more though, I like your style of food from what I’ve seen:) Stay in touch man, it’s always nice to chat to other friendly creators in a different topic area 👍😊

@cameronbrauer

Is all of this at 1080 only? I'm doing a bit of entry level shopping and finding it surprising that you can't do 4K over 30 FPS on a camera like this (when basic phone cameras and entry level GoPros support at least 60 FSP).
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 2 года назад
Hey Mr Brauer, great questions. So the slow motion frame rates from 50/60fps and above are indeed all 1080p. Personally I think they look fine and mix In seamlessly enough on a 4k timeline with 4k24 clips. As for higher 4k, generally the larger the camera sensor the more processing power is needed to increase 4k recording frame rate. It’s the same reason you will pay 3 times the cost of an iPhone for a crop or full frame sensor camera that can do 4k60 or above. The iPhone has the double advantage of a comparatively much smaller sensor than even a compact camera like the zv1 along with Apple silicon processors which are best in class for portable processing power. The advantages of larger sensors tend to be around overall image quality, more potential bokeh/background blur Amd better low light performance. You can see some of these things in action in this comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZ3msRPd11g.html Of course both sides of the fence have benefits so it’s all about what matters most to your use:) Hope that helps make things a bit clearer! Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 💪👍

Hi I have this camera but the option of Fps only in maximum 100fps in HD not 120fps as yours can u help me whya my fps option different ? Thank u
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey there! It sounds like you are in PAL mode (that will give frame rates like 25,50,100 in normal shooting and 250,500,100 in HFR mode). You can still use all these for slowmo but the ratio will just be back to 25fps instead of 24 - so 100fps would let you slow to 4x slowmo 250fps would let you do 10x slowmo etc. If you’d like to shoot in NTSC mode with the frame rates I have here you can switch the camera. Doing this formats your SD card so make sure you take everything you want and save it somewhere else first!:) Go to the camera menu: setup (yellow tab); page 2; the fourth option is NTSC/PAL selector. If you choose that and select ok it will change you from PAL to NTSC mode. Did that help? Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions 👍
