20 people? Already? Dude I swear my faith in humanity is just… exiting. Why are so many people being racist? Like what does it add to their day? People need to get lives I swear. Thanks for your vids, man. They bring me joy. Not this one, cuz it’s not joyful, obviously, I’m not kicking my feet and giggling. I’m rambling now it’s late and I’m tired sorry about that. Have a nice day.
I read an article about this situation and there is absolutely NO justification for what that man did to her. Sonya was complicit with their demands, answered all their questions and was still so brutally murdered. She had so much to live for and that was taken away from her so early. Never forget her name, Sonya Massey.
The fact that he would've got away with it cus he turned off his body cam but didn't as the other police office had his on! Just awful. The footage is terrifying.
they came to her door questioning her as if she was a threat. they enter her home and notice she has water boiling on the stove and ask her to remove it from the heat for safety. as she removes it from the heat she says she rebukes them, and they respond with "you better f*cking not or I swear to god I'll sh**t you in the f*cking face" before imediately drawing his gun and pointing it at her face. she screams sorry and ducks, keeping her hands above her still holding the water -- presumably to prove she is not reaching for a weapon. he sh**ts her in the head. sources are inconsistent on this next point but many are saying he both neglected to call medical services and told others on site to not contact medical care for her. this was his 6th agency in 4 years. America's fondness for allowing abusers and murderers to keep their badges is 100% responsible. this was preventable.
her daughter confirmed that she had paranoid schizophrenia as well. she likely was having a psychotic episode as she was so afraid of the noises she heard that were either a. not there or b. there were noises but her brain over exaggerated the risk of danger, that she had to call for help. when they arrived she asked them if they were going to hurt her (which shows how paranoid and deep into the episode she was) and they said “why would we hurt you, you called us?” #sayhername
Imagine calling the police, the people that are supposed to be the good guys, for help and they end up shooting you and thinking you’re the threat. She is in a better place now, I believe it. Police brutality has got to end.
@@RettlerBennett she was holding the pot that officer told her to pick up and take it off the stove, she was also known to have mental health issues. She didn’t gesture at him she held up the pot in fear when he said he was going to shoot her in the face
@@RettlerBennett so let’s say you called the police, the cop noticed that you have a pot of water on the stove, he advises you to take the pot off the stove and you do. You say something along the lines of “I rebuke you” the officer then pulls his gun shooting you in the head twice and then refuses to call an ambulance or give any form of first aid. But that’s your fault according to you.
Illinois is my home state, and the fact that this could happen to a woman who was literally calling for the police to HELP HER is horrifying. May she rest in power.
This breaks my heart because my fiancé is a black man I personally hate cops because of how horrible they are over here in the US but that’s just my opinion, not all of them are horrible.
It’s really depressing just how many people underestimate or don’t expect racism. Truthfully, it’s easier to be in denial than to accept the awful reality, but only by accepting our reality can we change it.
May Sonya rest in peace and power. How come a force like the police who are supposed to protect, can brutally kill people, in particular, black people? She's supposed to be alive, but due to the senselessness and heartlessness of those police officers, she isn't. It truly hurts me that a force that is meant to protect people seeks to hurt them due to their skin colour.
I watched the bodycam video and the most disturbing thing to me was seeing all the people in the comments blaming HER because they believed she was throwing boiling water at the police officer. And honestly my response to that is, THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER ALTERNATIVES THAN SHOOTING HER. I had a phase where I watched so many police body cam videos and in MUCH more dangerous scenarios they would use a TASER not a gun. Even if he was being threatened (which in all honesty I'm extremely doubtful that he was) there are many better alternatives than ending this poor woman's life.
And he had been an officer for several years. One article even explains that officers are trained to be careful and either to not let or not follow people to their kitchen in many cases.
Quotes from CNN Grayson did not activate his body camera until after he fatally shot Massey, according to charging documents. The other deputy had activated his body camera when he first arrived at the scene, the documents state. In the body-camera footage, Grayson tells his partner that Massey would not need medical help immediately after the shooting. The other deputy says he’s going to get a medical kit to help, but Grayson responds, “Nah, she’s done. You can go get it but that’s a headsh0t.” Grayson later goes to his vehicle to get his own medical supplies. When he gets back to the house, he asks if there’s anything he can do, but is told no. “All right, I’m not even gonna waste my med stuff then,” Grayson says. Next, Grayson leaves the house and speaks to a group of law enforcement officers outside. “Yeah, I’m good, this f**king b*tch is crazy,” he says, according to the footage. (End of quote) ----------------------- Sonya approached him with a pot of hot water, very clearly mentally unwell and he, a police officer who had prior DUIs and worked for 6 different agencies in 4 years, cussed at her and sh0t her. There were several alternative ways to deescalate the situation.
@@EzButler Ez, you blocked one of my alt accounts. All I did was copy and paste an excerpt from a CNN article and that’s it. I’m really confused. I’ve been watching you for a long time and I’m a huge fan. Am I really one of the “racists” you blocked? I’m on your side here, but I’m confused.
I genuinely don't understand this world at all. So cruel. She posed no threat, she was the one in danger and her "rescue" shot her in the face dead. No mercy, no attempt to help or understand, just murdered. I'm so sorry the world treated you like this Sonya ❤
She did exactly what he told her to do and she did not deserve to have her life take away, may you rest peacefully Sonya Massey 🕊️❤️ I also hope that her loved ones are doing okay I can't imagine losing a loved one like that
I grew up in a police station. I know how these people think and I know that most of them are some of the most incredible people I have ever met. But there are always bad ones. She didn’t deserve what happened. She didn’t do anything wrong.
That is AWFUL and unforgivable. What's worse is that, in the US at least, cops aren't even legally obligated to protect us... so I ask, WTF IS THE POINT OF HAVING THEM AROUND THEN?
She didn’t even try to attack the officer. She had a lot of water boiling on the stove, leaning over it and saying something along the lines of “I repent you” which in her case was similar to ‘I want to go home’ or ‘I don’t feel safe’ in a stressful situation. When she was shot, she was behind a counter and showing that it wasn’t a weapon.
That's awful that that happened I'm so sorry, may she rest in peace. It's awful that the people that are supposed to be trusted to protect are bringing harm to innocent peoppe

Police brutality needs to end, the racism is so unjust. I watched this on the news, and it just makes me cry. It’s not fair. Rest In Peace Sonya Massey
This is so tragic, racism has caused deaths upon deaths upon deaths, even some police that are supposed to hate racism and defend everyone are racist. (not all police are racist) and just because someone has a different skin colour, they kill them or say rude things abt them. May she rest in peace 🩷🕊️
There absolutely is police brutality and this is a horrific example of it. What we have to be mindful of is to not generalize and not stereotype and always remember to not paint every person in law enforcement with the same brush. Remember we are only being showed by the media the bad and let’s not forget there are A LOT of phenomenal men and women in law enforcement.
It's so surreal for me to here this. Like where i live there is so little police brutality that it's just unimaginable for me that this would happened her. But most of the countries doesn't have this luck to have really good police. Like here they really are helping and protecting people (most of the time but you know it's not perfect, and never will be)
This is absolutely horrible. And if she did have schizophrenia like some people have said, its no joke. She could have been actually terrified because she heard things like footsteps, talking, etc, and she could have seen shadows or a figure too. She could have seen anything really. So she deserved to get reassured that it was pkay and no one was there, but did she? No. She got fucking shot. Police brutality and racsim is disgusting and america seriously has a problem.
the officer overreacted so much. told her to go over to turn the stove off and then sh0t her for holding the pot. dude, boiling water is not going to kill you. people need to grow up
The existence of the bodycam footage is the ONLY reason this particular monster is being head accountable, make no mistake. And his record is suspicious af, there is probably a trail of victims of his brutality.
I’m so confused. This was over a pot of boiling water? She wasn’t even showing any signs of aggression with it. They overreacted drastically. Fly high, sonya.
