So good. Huge album for her. Probably her most critically acclaimed time period. Put out some great music in the 80s. Amazing career. Sexy af throughout it too. LOL. Glad you liked this one. One of her best.
This is definitely one of her most underrated songs. I do prefer the album version of it over the video - the music is slightly different. The scenes in the background are from Cher's personal life (her children, her second husband, Greg Allman and her younger boyfriend of the late 80's, Rob Camilletti) mixed with the various political things that had happened in the US up until that time. I love that when she sings about the joker, she points at Ronald Reagan.
Also that was Greg Allman (Allman Brothers Band) not Kurt Coibain. They were married off and on and have a son (Elijah Blue Allman) who now has his own band Deadsy.
I have always loved this song....Cher can deliver a power ballad like no other. Her massive contralto and reverb is indeed, second to none in the business.
Arc said >"95% of people do have their hearts encased in stone ", sad but very true. I'm an empath myself and often wish I wasn't. I feel the world and "others" pain very much so. I I may have some "cracks" in my heart❤ from breaking on and off, but hopefully time has mended some of them. Other's are wounds so deep. I love this video and Cher song, but I get a bit teary eyed whenever I watch it. With what is happening now in Ukraine and the whole world involved, with all of us witnessing it, your playing this video today, good timing. Love, Peace, compassion and understanding for the whole world.
GOD DAMNNN My first time hearing this one. All those evocative images of turning points in history which she lived through, and family members of hers which are now gone… I’m crying. I’ve been around five decades and remember many of those moments. We’re living through another big turning point right now, and we’re feeling the pain of it as we reckon with where we’re going as a society. The message of the song hits home hard. Thanks for choosing that one.
"Heart of Stone" is a song written by Andy Hill and Pete Sinfield for the band Bucks Fizz in 1988, and recorded by the band at Abbey Road Studios in London. The following year it was recorded by Cher as the title track of her album of the same name.[1] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eDtPNJFOFFQ.html&ab_channel=BucksFizzVEVO
Anton, a lot of the people you're talking about probably don't have hearts of stone. I think they have BRAINS OF STONE. (Their hearts are more like ashtrays.) Love the reaction and insights, my friend!
This type of reactions/commentary is dope. Can't wait to suggest a song. Celine has been dominating with my selfish side is like 'lovely' now we need international
When they performed their version at gigs, Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz joked that Cher must have heard theirs and thought that’s a good song, I’ll copy it lol. I like the headlines and reverse questions verses, must have taken a while to come up with those. Songwriter Andy Hill also penned Celine’s Think Twice and a gorgeous ballad Have you ever been in love, which his own band Paris recorded and was a UK hit for Leo Sayer, later covered by Peter Cetera.
"Heart of Stone" is a song written by Andy Hill and Pete Sinfield for the band Bucks Fizz in 1988, They have a version on here. I like it too, but Cher's has more power to it
Such a great song and a total flop in the UK for Bucks Fizz and Cher. The B-side is one of my favourite Cher songs All Because Of You. If you are thinking of doing another Cher track at some point my pick would be Could've Been You. Love it so much.
Definitely do more classic-era Cher ♥ Anything off of Cher, Heart of Stone, or Love Hurts is amazing. For requests: Pleeeeeeeeease do some Jimmy Barnes!! Greatest male rock vocal of all time. ☺
