A wonderful scene from the 1957 film "Boy on a Dolphin" when Sophia Loren sings the now classic song "Ti Einai Afto Pou to Lene Agapi" shot on the island of Hydra
Beautiful, charming and intelligent Sophia Loren. International fame and recognized all over the world! I enjoyed this movie because of her presence and never cared much to follow what it was all about. Sophia was what I was focused on. Memorable times. Lovely Sophia.
One of my favorite scenes from this movie. Sophia is a goddess. Love the documentation of Greek scenery at this point in time. The only incredible thing about the movie is the suggestion that Sophia could have had any feelings for Alan Ladd in this context. The movie is not flawless, but has many worthy moments, mostly to do with Sophia. I even considered naming my boat Phaedra.
What is it that they call love what is this, what is this all our hearts it will secretly lead if you've felt it nostalgic you'll be What is it that they call love what is this, what is this laughter, tears, sunshine or rain in our lives from beginning to end Never ever did anyone whos found it, did not say anything about it What is it that they call love what is this, what is this that makes you express your purpose I love you I love you I love you Sounds so much better in Greek, however I'm no poet, so I probably expressed it horribly in the translation.
I like July London singing this number. But, I was astonished by Sophia Loren singing. Really she is singing and wonderful. The, she dances. What a joy we have to see it. The half of the earth were nocked out entirely.
La gran Sophia ...un mujerón como ya no hay ..como actriz magnífica .bella hasta decir basta ..un mito viviente ..♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💜💜💜💜💜🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸😘😘😘😘👏👏👏👏👏👏
The best Ass ever seen, The sexiest body , and the attitude that waiters serve with the third hand !!! have you ever seen waiters serve with three hands ??
Very Beautiful! Sophia Loren Always loved and still Love Very Much Greece. Seriously. Sophia Loren is such an amazing woman. Greece forever. I am Proud To Be Greek.
Dimitris-Dianysis, Isn't Sophia Loren Italian? Please correct me if I am wrong. For actresses that generation I would say she's the most beautiful. Her figure is all-woman.
Such an embarrassment reading these crass comments from today!s amateurs. Sophia Loren was simply perfect for this role as a simple Hellene, beautiful as any young girl in Hellas could ever be, a peasant girl more radiant than what Hollywood has given us in over 50 years. Hellas stands proud to bless her as a Hellene ! Σοφία… καιρό μπορείς να ζήσεις
Voice artist Marni Nixon is providing the singing voice of Sophia Loren in this movie, sorry to spoil the illusion but credit where credit is due, Marni Nixon was a super talented singer and voice artist who could sing in many styles and accents, she voiced many top movie stars of the 40s 50s and 1960s, Deborah Kerr in "The KIng And I", Natalie Wood in "West Side Story" and Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady" to name a few. Her work went uncredited at the time as the studios kept it under wraps, audiences would be disappointed if they knew the stars weren't really doing their own singing.
Your statement is not documented, not event on the wikipedia page of Marni Nixon (the film is not mentioned): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marni_Nixon. On the other hand Sofia Loren sang the song in a television program of italian tv. We, who know Sofia Loren's voice, recognize her vocal timbre in this recording.
According to this Greek video with Greek artists and movie directors, Sophia Loren did sing the song. It is actually her own voice and if you can understand Greek you will hear at this video how she came to learn to sing the song in Greek. www.mixanitouxronou.gr/pos-i-sofia-loren-tragoudise-sta-ellinika-ti-ine-afto-pou-to-lene-agapi-stin-tenia-to-pedi-ke-to-delfini-i-idra-o-latsis-ke-i-neirada-vinteo/
Quite the number of acters are actually quite good and if this had been indeed the '60s, they would have released a novelty type album , although I think that it need not be a "novelty' as so to be "novel". Does have voice to match looks in beauty.
While her pronunciation is spot on...that dance isn't Greek. At least i don't think it is. Im Greek and have never seen a Greek dance like that. Looked more Russian
Don't forget though that there are 10.000 traditional dances. I do traditional Greek danicing too, and I have not seen specifically this, but something like this in Greek dances. Some also have variations in their own ways
It is a choreographed version of “Chassaposervikos”, containing the dance movements («φιγούρες»), after the main dance steps. It is a movie after all, this is not how it was danced by the actual Greek people who danced it.
Russian you say! Of course, but in Hellas, you drink enough wine, then stand and dance your troubles away creating your feelings and desires in whatever manner at that very instance as only we Hellenes know how to do ! Alexis Zorba can attest to this !
Sophia Loren recorded a handful of songs at her time. She even starred The Man of La Mancha movie where she sang with her own voice. Why do you say she didn't sing? It seems that many people don´t know her career well.
@@ascane7645 1st of all I know Sophia Loren's voice by Mambo Italiano and Americano. This is not her It's Kaiti Denis. As #GreekBelgianVenezuelanHere what you imply is that I don't know the most all time classic song my country loves for decades.
I don´t imply anything. You say you know Sophia´s voice by Mambo and Americano. Well, I know her voice by all her songs and this one wasn´t sung in the film by Kaiti Denis or Marni Nixon.
@@christosgrivas6536 because I am Greek and for fact know who even wrote the song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7148ygpKuXs.html Α' Εκτέλεση (1st signed by) and in the movie it Kaiti Denis years youngers that the one in the video link.
