Thank you for making Sophia a real person and not just a name that’s usually only very briefly referred to in English history as George I’s mother and the closest Protestant family member of the Stuart dynasty and line of accession. She exhibited such good sense in choosing not to marry her cousin Charles II. (He was a real piece of work.) As a result of her wisedecision her descendants are still on England’s throne today. Sophia sounds like someone who I would have enjoyed getting acquainted with.

Great work Jon! It's so ironic her health which was robust compared to Anne it would be what would rob her of a kingdom and a queenship. What a queen Sophia may have been.

Great episode! The talking head of Sophia was jarring and disturbing, but intriguing! Thank you for yet another excellent episode! My only wish is that you make your episodes longer, but you all do an excellent job at what you do, and it is much appreciated!

Hey Rowan I'd love to make longer videos, but I'm a one man band (no help) So literally everything you see takes a lot of my time. This video was 3 - 4 days in the making. Appreciate your thoughts, and for watching 😊

@@HistoryRoadshow 1st time viewer to your channel. Am very impressed. Kudos to you on the making of this video if you are using any form of AI or any other sort of artificial creating for this video I think you did a fantastic job honestly even though I'm not a big fan of the AI movement or the AI craze, I have to say that your efforts in making this video was done very well I mean honestly unless I really took a hard deep look I couldn't really tell per say that anything artificial was actually used I basically just enjoy the whole piece. Hats off to you. Enjoyed watching your efforts unfold before, me. Chin up!! If, this is any encouragement to you another channel creator that I watch "The Why i Files" with host AJ Gentille actually has an entire team of people around him -- at least two or three of whom, are also equally qualified, to do both editing and creating. However when it all comes down to it the creator of the channel INSISTS on being the only one to write the script, shoot the video, do the pre-production and post-production, by himself. From what I can gather unless it's been a very grueling time frame he's able to spit out a brand new video every week. Most of his videos are somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 minutes to an hour long each. So I think that if ever in the future you contemplate wanting to do a longer video you probably could do the same thing too.

you show great ignorance in your comment regarding Sophia of Hanover , In 1707 the independent Crown and Thrones of both Scotland and England's ceased to exist, it became The Crown and Throne of Great Britain, until 1801 when it changed to the United Kingdom Of Great Britain and Ireland and again changed in 1922 to the United kingdom Of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which it remains to this day and of the other territories Why cannot people read the facts and history before making such stupid and incorrect comments. For those in England and elsewhere there has been no King or Queen of either Scotland or England from 1st of May 1707 when the very last monarch of both, Queen Anne became the first monarch of the new kingdom of Great Britain and their title has reflected that ever since. The upcoming coronation of our present King Charles III is and will be crowned King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland etc. England is not Britain contrary to the ignorant belief of many in England and throughout the world, it is with Scotland and Wales part of Great Britain

Thank you for this very interesting video. I came across Sophia as a result of reading a biography about her son - George l and looked into her life in a bit more detail. What a fascinating and extraordinary person! The sadness is that she is more or less ignored when looking at the four Georges.

a very nice and informative video of Sophia Of Hanover, who you correctly styled the granddaughter of James VI of Scotland as well as James I of England. There is indeed no doubt Sophia would have made an excellent Queen had she survived Queen Anne but died two months short of that. William of Orange was William II of Scotland as well as III of England, with Charles II also King of Scots the last monarch crowned as such in Scotland in 1651. The Act of Succession of 1701 only applied to the English Crown at that point, as The Scottish Parliament passed the Act of Security of 1703, ( became law in 1704)in response to that as they had not been consulted by the English Parliament, stating it reserved the right nominate their own successor to the throne in event of Queen Anne's death without issue, providing it was a protestant and not necessary the same as England, unless certain conditions were met. it ultimately was accepted during the terms of treaty of Union of 1707, that created Great Britain. it is a pity there is very little known about Sophia of Hanover as she was far more capable than her immediate successors of the House of Hanover. Very nice video an d information on a truly remarkable lady who deserves greater credit than history has accorded her

It’s a shame though, because the wife of Charles the second was not able to bear children and Sophia would have given Charles multiple kids, and the Stuart line would still be on the throne today!
