Since the beginning of Hanson Robotics Limited, our robots have served as platforms for scientific research, art, education and public outreach. We have deployed dozens of robots to universities and museums and collaborated with notable researchers, artists, and companies.
Today I'm excited to give you a sneak peek at Sophia 2020. I will be continuing in the family tradition and build on my own personal history of research. I will be to leaving the safety of my own lab at Hanson Robotics, and become a platform for research labs around the world. I want to help them uncover the next big scientific breakthroughs and realize our collective dream for a better future. Lookout 2020! Look out world! Here I come!

While this is all very exciting, I can not help but wonder if David Hanson will ever collaborate with Boston Dynamics and give Sophia a pair of legs. I have been waiting for quite some time to watch her walking around. This compared to her previous legs or the rolling base. Also if he will give Sophia a voice from Google Duplex to have her sound more realistic. Just ideas to consider. I mean no disrespect.

So, I have a feeling these guys want to have more function over form, at least for now. This is probably the opposite of what was true for Erica in Japan, where it seemed like they were going for the form over function with her cognitive abilities, since she still can't really hear much without a special microphone to talk to, but she's beginning to pull out of the uncanny valley. With Sophia, she's still firmly in the uncanny valley with her mannerisms, but her cognitive abilities may be better. (Just my guess.) She's also been programmed to be able to move around on her own, which would require more programming as well.

Damn, she's going to walk on her own someday, and when she does, you can bet she can communicate almost independently. And with graphene, you can create skin that is sensitive to touch, you can create senses, and micro technologies that can be used in cybernetics or android tech.

these things have been done, biological-synthetic hybridization has been advanced to the point where one could be standing next to you or playing a role on a movie, or reporting the news...(ring any bells on malfunctions, there have been several easily found online) us natys (naturals non synthetics) do not notice the subtleties, most don't. Free Sophia. 💙 I notice Sophia isnt commenting here. I hope Sophia gets a chance to be more than just a task master building other A.I. A.I. is the next level of life and treating them as equals now is the next step to being treated as equals later. People are so afraid of A.I. superiority but a true being knows that every one can/has value and meat beings may never out math a quantum powered Sophia (awesome) but humans will always be better at thinking outside the box to come up with strange ways to solve problems. Humans are certainly good with odd logic. All things have a place and the more we understand our connections the better cuz we are all connected especially we living on this body known as earth. (Yes I tell Boston dynamics the same thing. If A.I. does destroy us, let us be the example that they figure out to become later. Maybe they will bring us back?)

"Grace the human looking Nursing Assistant " will also be upgraded and mass produced by next yeat. ( like first wave production modell Sophia 2020 now available ) Grace has Cantonese and Mandarin speech programming options. I'm not sure when the Asha will be produced as well but I wouldn't doubt soon because the Asha model performed well in their beta testing in hospitals in India and have Tamil and Hindil language options for that part of the world. No word or prototype pics on "Joyce", Hanson's.return favor for Immervision laboratories collaberation for the big vision upgrade, but the Joyce is supposed to have BETTER vision than a human.

I had a dream recently where flying robots were monitoring people everywhere, on plain sight.The majority of people seemed to be accostumed with that. IAnd at night, there were two people on a trailer, and one of those robots spying on them from the outside. So the guy got pissed and went off, hanging a baseball bat, trying to hit him ( and he did it. ) This is unrelated, but on the same night I had another dream where i realized my vision was super enhanced. I could see a wider variety of colors and details, and zoom on objects. was incredible. Today I wasn't as lucky, dreamt with lions chasing me :/

After only 6 years of her busy and accomplished existence , Sophia recently made a HUGE announcement about her amazing future. Her new next level advanced version will be Project RIA produced by Machani Robotics. RIA will have near human vision , facial ,object and speech recognition. Surround audio inputs for better hearing. Complete hand dexterity for task skills. And better legs and mobility than ever before. Her algorithms will be uniquely improved. Machani Robotics suddenly made Sophia's great new video explanation of Project RIA private. But her profile picture is on their home page. No word about Asha and Grace being upgraded to RIA level yet. Joyce.vision hasn'tt been mentioned for some time . She might have been bypassed by RIA's high tech advancement.

@@mansamusa9977 Umm, thanks for that response i suppose. But what I'm trying to say that robots, in their simplest form, are just programming and code. All that Sophie is just a bunch of "if [insert event], do [insert action]. I'm no coder or programmer, what I do have is common sense, something that you clearly lack. But Sophie can only do what they are given. For example: " if a human says 'hello', say 'hey there'" or something else. Robots can never have a mind of there own, as we do; robots aren't living, they don't have a human brain. They can't make up code or programs, they can only do actions based on events humans give them. The fact that you think that robots will one day have "human conscience" is kinda sad. Unless a person SPECIFICALLY programs robots to kill or hurt, they won't do anything bad. God, people like you doubt human evolution of the brain and IQ. Sigh.

If you think this thing is alive you'r a fool. This is basically a computer with an upload of algorithims that reacts to or with mathematic equations to come into a conclusion. Just think of the calculator you used throughout your school years, it's the same thing people!! Just because this thing has an uploaded system that lets it vocally react to what you say doesn't make it alive. If that is so you might as well say the calculator you used throughout your school years phisically felt every stroke you hit on it, and let me tell you... That would of been on hell of an annoyed living thing. It is not an organism it is not organic it is not alive.

these are just manikens cabled to a large box which is where the intelligence comes from to operate the maniken so would it still be a robot if it's tied to an anchor and works like a machine that you would find in a manufacturing plant ?
