The joke is that Disney approved sora back in smash 4 nomura just didn't want to because out of all things he couldn't find a place for it to fit in the story

As a Huge Kingdom Hearts fan, not only the fact that Sora is in Smash puts a smile on my face but seeing all those who wanted this longer than me finally get there wish puts an even bigger one on my face

@@chrish3969Apparently, Disney wasn’t the problem. Nomura was. Disney was extremely supportive, but Nomura couldn’t find out a way to fit Sora in Smash, so he refused.
I said it many times over and I’ll say it again. Sora was a fantastic choice to end with. Not only were there surprises that it actually happened and screams of joy, but there were a lot more people crying from this than any other character I’ve seen. That just goes to show beloved this character is from a lot of people and to have it confirmed in front of their eyes after years of being told it was impossible. Not to mention how hard it must have been to go through all the legal hoops of just getting the character, the stage, and the stained glass portraits. Sakurai and Sora Unlimited really went above and beyond for the finale. And hopefully Sakurai gets a well deserved break, but I get this feeling he’s not gonna be on break for too long.
kids today might not really get why KH1 sora means this much to everyone, but before the series became an impossible lore tangle, this game was my EVERYTHING. me and my sister played all the way through it a few years ago, purely so we could finally unlock the ultima keyblade ( a dream we had never been able to achieve before), and while it's still goofy as hell, I'm not gonna pretend this didn't make me emotional. 20 years of waiting, and he's finally in smash
also i forgot to add this, but i really like that you left in some negative reactions to this and not just the fanboys crying. as much as sora meant to most of us, it's valid that some would be let down by this. people were hoping for master chief in particular, some really wanted crash bandicoot in there, among any number of others. all would've been good choices.

I ain't even a KH fan, but i cannot deny the impact of this reveal. MANY folks were made happy by this. I myself am excited to play him, and even more so that his series is confirmed for switch.

This is truly a day where everyone almost everyone cried! I don’t even play Smash and I cried. Kingdom Hearts 1 is a huge game from my teen years. And to see him joining Smash as the last light that fuels Smash for the last time. I definitely cried, because it’s so appropriate.
what didn't hit me until recently was the fact that unlocking and connecting the worlds all these other characters inhabited was sora's entire purpose in KH1. of COURSE he'd be the last, he had to open the keyhole to the Smash Bros world.

I honestly never thought Sora would make it into Smash ever. Like I've always wanted him in, but I always put him on the list of characters that I want in, but if they never did, would totally get it. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the mickey symbol show up
seeing the announcement i cant lie did bring a tear to my eye. he means alot as a character to alot of people specially 90's gamers who have played kh since the very beginning. seeing all these genuine reactions and excitement makes me smile cause i realise how much it means to them as well
I’ll be honest. I haven’t actually beaten a single game of Kingdom Hearts but damn it I was so excited for not only Smash fans, but fans of KH. Had me crying every damn reaction, the little KH I’ve played makes me so happy about this.
Sora is my all time favorite now. Cloud is a very close second. I've been a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts since the beginning. Leading up to the stream I saw the leaks and didn't want to get my hopes up for Sora. I thought it would be Crash Bandicoot given the history with Nintendo back in the day. Right before the stream my wife said "Watch its gonna be Sora" lol. I was screaming and I almost cried.
For a grown man, I am not ashamed of crying for my boy Sora, making it to Smash! Even now I'm still very very emotional. How much I wanted him in this game is an understatement
The best thing about Nico's tho, although it seems like he was... telling sakurai to just f* himself and all is that, not only he broke down in tears later in the reaction but, the reveal was a few days after his birthday. Last year was Steve and he got so bummed out, but this year he finally got this as a gift, the guy marathoned KH really hard, what a bday gift for him that was. Also he kept saying ''eff you sakurai'' because he was talking about lowering expectations, cause it wasn't going to be sora, that it was gonna be something lowkey, to not trust the leaks XD
The moment I saw that keychain, I knew all along I was right. This smash bros is truly the ultimate. I mean what better way to end the ultimate crossover with a character from another crossover game? Just like that, the world made sense to me again, and that small part of me that believed in magic was renewed tenfold. "Faith in your heart that anything is possible", seeing my special little guy on here has made me stood firm with those words, and I thank Sakurai for making me believe again.
I actually cried my heart out when this was revealed. I've never even played KH but I just KNOW how special this inclusion is and we should all thank Mr. Sakurai on our knees for it.
We needed a star to shine bright on our world, and Sora was that star. "Here we are, like star, shining bright on your world." (No matter how many times I say this, it still holds true.)
The only thing i hate about this reveal is how blurry the video is, even at 720p, it keeps getting blurry, my cheeks feel wet, my bed has water droplets, and my little brother asked me why am i crying.
You Kingdom Hearts fans finally won this time and got your wish! Sorry if the comment is late. I never actually played Kingdom Hearts but I’ve heard about it. But I never wanted to think that a Disney character would actually make it in Smash. It’s so unbelievable that Sakurai and Disney did the impossible. I respect this trailer for how hype it really is! This finale is respectable in my book! And Sora is actually pretty good in Smash.

If and when they make another Smash Bros. game, the final character has to be Geno. People have requested him for so long, he's been a Mii Fighter and it would be another heartwarming moment for Smash fans.

Well, Final Fantasy is Kingdom Hearts' parent franchise. The game inspired Super Mario 64, And the plot story was based on Final Fantasy, And the title was based on Disney's Animal Kingdom. Tetsuya Nomura, Who is the creator of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy did claim Sora is a Square Enix Character when Nintendo added him to smash bros but he's considered a Disney hero in Kingdom Hearts only. So far Sora only appeared in 2 Disney games, (Disney Emoji Blitz and Disney Tsum Tsum). While he appeared in more Final Fantasy games. Kingdom Hearts didn't even get included in the Disney App Games Disney Heroes and Disney's Magical Kingdom. There were also Kingdom Hearts references in other Disney Games and Cartoons. Sora's Keyblade was an item in Disney Infinity, And Mickey had his Kingdom Hearts costume. The Keyblade can also be seen in Mickey Mouse Cartoon 2013-2019. Even in the film Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers you find Sora's Keyblade and Hair. And Sora didn't make any appearances in both Wreck-It Ralph movies. Square Enix demanded Sora to be removed from Disney Parks as Disney didn't get any permission for usage of Sora. Well Kingdom Hearts merchandise is still available at Disney Parks. In Smash Bros Sora is full of Square Enix related things and Disney was scrapped off. The only thing that is Disney related to Sora in Smash is the Mickey Mouse Keychain and his original clothing from KH 1. Square Enix approved Sora for Smash. Sora is representing both Square Enix and Disney at the same time in Smash, But he represents Square Enix the most. And Sora and the other original characters are considered Sole Final Fantasy characters. This is proof that Square Enix is the true owner of Kingdom Hearts along with Sora and the other original characters. Tetsuya Nomura did claim that Him and Square Enix do own the Kingdom Hearts franchise and the original characters
