The more I watch Sora flying with the music playing, it feels like it came straight from a Disney movie. This is the most majestic and heartwarming thing I've ever seen in a Super Smash Bros. trailer.
The thing is, Smash started as a game where you got to play with all your favorite childhood game characters. As the years went on, the people who played it as kids got older, and the games largely reflect that. Sora was the main character in a lot of other kids' favorite childhood game, and even for older people they got to play with Disney characters from their childhood. And Sora himself embodies the childlike innocence and optimism so many remember having when playing the first Kingdom Hearts. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's what makes him the best character to finish off Smash Ultimate.
This is exactly what I think Sakurai meant by "This is a moment for all gamers." Like even if some aren't a fan of KH, Sora (just like in his games) is the inner kid in us all getting to meet childhood characters. And he's having the honor to play and fight along all of our other favorite childhood/iconic videogame characters. He's iconic, a childhood character, and technically a proxy for us lol.
Nail on the freaking head, man. I might have moved away from the KH games over the years but I & II will always have a soft spot in my heart and this reveal brought back those same feelings from those early days of the series. It may not be the reveal everyone wanted but it’s an awesome one nonetheless.
Literally crying watching how happy everyone is when they watch the reveal. I hardly play smash ultimate but sora is the character I've always wanted in smash. He's deserved to be there for over a decade.
Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted. The fandom for Kingdom Hearts has really grown over the years I can feel the love from all the tears people are shedding and the excitement. Kingdom Hearts is a franchise that has brought us all together. I’m so happy for this victory and finally having our favorite and beloved Key Blade wielder in Smash! We freaking won! Thank U Sakurai ♥️
I have no personal attachment to Kingdom Hearts, but I couldn't be happier for the people who actually wished for Sora. His reveal (even though I know basically nothing of Sora) made me feel warm inside. Such a great inclusion for the last fighter
All the character reveal trailers were great. But Sora's reveal trailer felt the most magical. The music, how he came in like he's about to bring new life into the game. This was deserved and I'm glad they actually pulled it off.
At the end of the direct I shed a couple tears. Smash has been a part of my life since melee. It's how I met a lot of my closest friends and to think it's finally over.
There's just something about how the music is when he's flying, it's like "all my time waiting was worth it for this grand entrance" definitely one of the best character reveals.
I'd say that this and Sephiroth were my favorites; what you said about Sora reflects what I'm thinking as well, and Sephiroth's felt like a "this is the climax, everyone. It's getting bigger now," or something in that sort. It's awesome to finally see him in!
I just want to say that, Sora wasn’t the character I would of liked the last dlc character to be, but after seeing all of these reaction videos and seeing how emotional a lot of people got. It makes me glad that it wasn’t any character I wanted. I see how much this character means to a lot of people, and it truly makes me happy seeing that all you guys finally got what you wanted after waiting all these years! :)
Thirded. Plus the chord that that song was underneath just sealed the emotional deal. I have no attachment to KH, but the reactions across the board are making me cry the more I watch them, and making me change my mind about Disney having any involvement in Smash. I'm 30 and my parents don't understand the deep cultural impact something like this has on people in our generation for just adding a character to a game. It's huge. It's symbolic.
The music, the way Sora floats in and then starts flying around, knowing how he loves to go to new worlds and how everyone is there to greet him, it's all very Kingdom Hearts and I love it. It literally feels so much like a cutscene straight from the game complete with the feels.
@@crozsol4278 sora doesn’t “disguise” himself into that world, he just also assimilates himself into it. Being himself while taking in the culture of that world as his jobs is to bring worlds together!
Not going to lie it's been very dark recently but something about that keyblade and seeing Sora with the music just hit me in a place that hasn't been touched in years...even though I don't play smash I really needed this
Think about it. This game's biggest focus was fan-service. This game was made with the fans in mind, including characters that people had asked for for ages. It makes *absolute* sense that Sora would be the final character, and I am super happy that this game and series went out on an extremely high note. Just look and listen to how happy people are. It's so damn heartwarming
Sora was the best possible choice they had left. Not only did the hardcore Smash fans want him in, but there were lots of other people outside of Smash who love the character as well
Honestly Smash being focused on fan service is the reason I love it so much. I don't even play these games but it makes me so happy watching these people's childhood fantasy come true. I respect Sakurai for creating a game that goes beyond the boundaries of copyright and legalities because he knows it's for the fans.
makes even more sense since KH is also a fanservice-focused series. in a game all about bringing in characters from many different worlds, what would make more sense than a character that travels to and brings light to so many worlds beyond his own?
While sora wasn’t who I wanted, not even close, the trailer convinced me that he is more then worthy to be in the game. I’m glad they finally got him in and with Sakurai’s final ride with the franchise. What a beautiful send off.
Same. I'd have rather Doomguy been the character and Sora be a costume. Nonetheless, I already got my most wanted fighter when Sakurai brought in the Bear n Bird. So since then everything else has been a bonus and I've been saying the same thing to Sakurai with each DLC fighter release. "Shut up and take my money!" I bought the 2 passes back when each first released and every penny has been WORTH it. Sakurai... Thank you.
I had the same reaction,at first I was a bit disappointed, happy to see a cool character and not a fire emblem one,but I didn't wanted Sora After the trailer I literally can't think about a better character to be the final Dl'c,they made it with a lot of care,it's beautiful and the music it's fricking perfect,11/10
For me the best came first with joker but seeing how happy the fans are and how unlikely it was to be him i say he is the perfect character to end the DLCs.
Even as someone who hasn't played much the KH games (yet), I confess... I teared up heavily from a lot of their reactions. Goes to show you how much Sora and the KH series means to them and the millions of other fans. Absolute respect to Nintendo's choice of the final character. Beautifully presented.
A lot of people were hoping for Sora to come to Smash. I was one of ‘em. And it’s nice and very heartwarming to see that so many people have finally gotten the character they’ve been wanting in Smash.
people don't truly grasp where this much love for Sora in smash came from. This all started back in Brawl with the player survey for who people wanted to be the next hero and Sora was #1 on that list, with Etika being the biggest rally behind that voice. They did this for the magical send off Smash truly needed, which was going back to its roots, and bringing that inner childhood out in every single person who played, and to reignite that memory of the player who ruled the world before we lost him.
Sora’s light literally woke everyone up from the darkness. He descends down on the crowd like an angel and that says A LOT to his character and to what Kingdom Hearts means to us fans of the game 😭
Fun fact: This isn't even the first time Disney and Nintendo have partnered up. As early as the late 60's thay did a collaboration where Nintendo licensed Mickey Mouse playing cards in Japan (Before they became a video game maker. They've been around since 1889.) You can say Sora and Mario's handshake is Disney and Nintendo rekindling their grievances.
@@monstercombo007 Also, Nintenho had the Epic Mickey franchise for the Wii, Wii U and 3DS. And then Nintendo also had some Kingdom Hearts Games exclusive to them at the time, such as CoM, Coded, 358/2 and Dream Drop Distance.
My exact thought process through the reveal (keep in mind I was very very skeptical of Sora being in Smash) Sees burning Keyblade: Wait... Is that... No it can't be Mickey Emblem appears: *mind explodes*
@@Ys4all Same goes for your grandparents, but you still believe they're in a good place don't you? *Heartless, haha like the enemies in KINGDOM HEARTS*
Having grown up playing the kingdom hearts series I never would’ve imagined, sora getting into smash. He never once crossed my mind and I even doubted people who kept saying and predicting he’d be in smash, but after today I began to literally tear up as it hit me that someone who grew up along side me became apart of a video game series I played religiously. Thank you so much, Sakurai for this amazing final character and last send off to ultimate.
I love seeing everyone’s pure raw reaction as they hear that song start and feel all of the memories they’ve had with this game, with their friends and family talking about this game. It’s such a powerful franchise and I’m so happy to finally see the king of crossovers in the “ultimate” crossover! 😌💕 I never lost hope for my boy sora ✨
@@OkamiPrincess15 The signs are already there!!! - Sora's the 13th DLC Character - Sora comes out 13 days after the presentation - Sora comes out on version 13.0
Honestly, this is up there as one of the best reveals to me. It's so magical and gives me a warm feeling I am genuinely close to crying...seeing all of these KH fans breaking down in tears of joy (and I NEVER even played KH) Smash is such an anomaly, I'm so happy I got to experience Ultimate from start to finish
I love playing smash and the fact Sora is the final character legit made me cry.... I played kingdom hearts in high-school and because of that game... it helped me so much through my depression from the harrrasment from school. Literally this game made me believe good things will come and this game pulled me through those tough times. I am legitimately happy and crying ❤❤❤
I think Sakurai has definitely earned his rest after all the Super Smash Bros games he brought us. We can carry on his legacy through both the Super Smash Bros series and all the games the Smashers came from, including Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade Chronicles, Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Sonic, Pokemon, and more. God Bless You, Mr. Sakurai, and thank you for all you brought us with Super Smash Bros over the years.
Here we are ladies and gentlemen, the finale of Smash Ultimate. These 3 years have been crazy since its initial release, all the way to fighter pass 2. Let's hope that whenever the next Smash game gets announced, it will be a big one, and we will all rejoice once more for this awesome event. Until next time, friends.
The shear amount of happy tears is really heart warming and goes to show how impactful this reveal was plus this was one of the most wholesome smash dlc trailers ever which was perfectly topped off by Sora and Mario shaking hands they couldn't have done a better job revealing sora
1-i hate leaks 2-this is by far the most EXPENSIVE Smash Bros. Character and i don't mean price to get him i mean how much Sakurai and Nintendo had to pay Disney
It's not just price, it's also loads of meetings and disagreements until eventually you finally get a green light out of a greedy CEO's cold dead hands. It's making sure that the property is respected.
It's really interesting to see how many people who know NOTHING of Kingdom Hearts, say they felt all warm and fuzzy when Sora was revealed. That's....That's Sora. You hear his name, you can't help but smile. You hear his theme, you can't help but feel hopeful. You think of what the character went through in Kingdom Hearts up to the third game....You can't help but feel ELATED that he's finally able to just relax and have fun in a tournament. Sora is a character that represents innocence, and friendship and hope and light. And the reveal was done perfectly. Sora is a character that represents innocence, and friendship and hope and light. And it's just such a fitting note to end on. I can't really think of any other way to end these reveals and end this game other than on a note of light and hope-especially CONSIDERING the main theme of this Smash is LITERALLY CALLED Lifelight. It's too perfect lol.
You know what is amazing about Sora's release. The way he came out, flying around like a free spirit is as if Sakurai is telling us all is now he is free from this game forever. The Music and sora's appearance is a perfect ending for Sakurai's Exit and standing ovation. The kind of ending that will certainly put a tear to us all. Some may not approve of Sora but let's admit it where we all can now say farewell to the man who started this all, gave us an amazing childhood, teenhood and adulthood. Made so much memories. Thank you sakurai and Nintendo Team for this awesome gaming gift.
I've seen hype reactions in the past but I think this is legit the first time people have cried over the character reveal. What a hype way to end Ultimate's production
I have no attachment to Sora. None at all. But despite that, I can see that he's the perfect character to cap off this game. He's loved by those both Japan and the West. The whole point of his games is to bring together multiple properties (Disney and Final Fantasy). He is the perfect final character, and the most requested at that. There is no game, past or present, than can come close to the love and care that Sora (the company) and Nintendo have poured into this game. Every DLC character (except maybe Byleth) has so much care and attention put in to every single aspect of their design, moveset, and stage that even the creators or developers of some of these characters will need to step up their game.
@@BJGvideos nah man. I LOVE Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Byleth felt like a rushed addition, like they had something else planned that fell though. Here's what I mean: Joker got a stage that changes depending on the music. Important because the music is one of the best parts of Persona. Along with a unique counter mechanic. Hero got reskins instead of just color pallet changes, along with a very unique (albeit incredibly broken at launch) ability that mimics the games he's from. Banjo's trailer got the Rare treatment, meaning characters that Rare has made games for showed up in the trailer. Terry got a huge moveset and his stage alone shows how much the development team cares about the source material. Steve has a whole new mechanic that required them to rework every stage in the game. Sephiroth is Sephiroth, the thought impossible character to get because Square Enix. And Cloud got a new final smash. Pyra/Mythra reintroduced the form change that is a huge plot point in their games. Kazuya, like Terry, got a huge moveset and unique mechanics that align with his games. By comparison, Byleth (and Min Min to a lesser extent) feel like "base game" characters - characters that should have been added when the game was released. They don't FEEL like DLC. No special treatment, no unique gimics, no major changes to how the game is played. Hell, half their moveset isn't even from FETH and is just bog-standard "anime sword fighter" moveset. Don't get me wrong, I love Byleth. They're one of my mains. But that reveal, the stage, and the character itself doesn't feel like they got the same treatment as the other characters. It feels like they had to fill a slot, and used a first party character to quickly fill it.
@@BJGvideos I don't mean it was bad. It just doesn't seem like there was as much love dumped on Byleth. Maybe it's because there's just less they could do with them based on the source material. Maybe it's because they had less time to put their character together (I'm fairly certain Byleth was a replacement, because it's a weird character to end a DLC pack on). By no means is it bad. It just doesn't feel like they got the full DLC treatment.
As a Kingdom Hearts fanboy, grew up with Kingdom Hearts, literally my #1 favorite franchise, I could NOT hold back tears. Before the keyhole was even formed in the trailer I was already fighting with my tears. Not even in public could I hold back tears, especially with Hikari as the background music. My throat would get all tight and shit. An absolutely fucking immeasurable victory for Sora and Kingdom Hearts fans around the world. This is the best gaming moment I'll probably ever have in my life.
Love how even those who weren’t waiting for him acknowledged the joy it brought so many people. Not to mention the absolute shit they must’ve went through to get him in the game to begin with
Hey I saw this yesterday and I wanted to say thank you so much for including me in this. Means the absolute world to me. I hope you have an absolutely goated day
Glad you were able to find this video. When I was searching for reactions yours really hit me. Seeing you cry as two of your favorite games (Smash and Kingdom Hearts) come together was truly magical. I've literally replayed your reaction a hundred times in the last few days. I wish nothing but the best for you.🙏
Yo, I cried. Mostly because I hold KH SO close to my heart, I was 12 in 2002 when it first came out on PS2 and now I'm 33. It's AMAZING how it's still going, much like The Nightmare before Christmas.
I’ve been playing smash since 64 and played every KH game. I’ve wanted Sora in smash since before Brawl. I didn’t think this would ever happen because of Disney having such a tight grip on properties. I’m so happy he finally made it. Also when that orchestral music kicks in, it’s impossible not to get emotional if you’ve followed the kh series. It’s used as the intro for Dream Drop Distance, which gorgeously encapsulates all the major moments of the series before itself and the long awaited KH3.
I've never played Kingdom Hearts so when I watched the trailer live I was like "oh pff its Sora, thats funny" but watching these people's reactions is literally making me cry, I'm very glad they finished off with him
Sora! YES!! He's here! He's finally here! We finally have Sora in Super Smash Bros Ultimate!! I'm literally crying tears of joy.......I never thought I'd see this day come true!! Sakurai you did it!! You really did it man!! Sakurai you've made us all very happy & proud of you!
Love Your energy. Glad to see you, the fans and other creators so happy for Sora. It makes me so hype for the 18th when everyone that has waited over a decade to finally get to play as him.
Damn it I just got done crying three times this morning after watching the reveal. The waterworks are coming back, well done Sakurai. You've really outdone yourself 😭💖😭
I love pretty much everyone screamed and then the realization kicked in that we finally got what we’ve been asking for 6 years later and it’s no longer a dream-- I feel that 🥲
