If dude was cool without kids then maybe his wife doesn't feel pressured to give him everything he wanted. He should have only been taught about self love & acceptance & showing those same things to others. Then being single, or not having a kid wouldn't be a big deal

If a friend who wanted kids but can’t have any agrees to it, I would surrogate for them. Simple as that. It’s only exploitation if the parents take advantage of the surrogate mother or vice versa.

Because the dad needs to know, and even if the dad leaves them it isn't really wrong as they aren't his kid. And as for the fear of abandonment.. The abandonment will only get worse once the dad finds out. And when the dad finds out that the OP knew but didn't even bother telling him. Honestly, after hearing hundreds of other stories about dads abandoning their nonbio kids after finding out, no matter how long theyve had them, i do not blame amyone for hiding it.

The kid is what's important here because they need their dad. He is their dad, he was the one who raised them. The mother should not have told the kid, she should maybe have told the dad, the kid is not responsible for telling the dad.
