In this video, I’ll experiment with sorting pellets by weight to see if it’s a necessary thing to do. Be sure to subscribe to my channel for more videos. Thanks for watching!

The other metric, which in my opinion is the most important is head size. That should be measured too if you are going to sort. Variation in head size will cause more accuracy issues than those slight weight variations.

Thanks for that tip.

My indoor range is only 10 yards and messing around i shoot 2 shots and they should hit the same hole. Just got a tin of Hades 15.89’s and 1 out of every 10 shot pairs made one hole. Half making a clear two holes. I started sorting and found the tin to be a huge variation. From 15.70 to 16.30. After sorting i was now making 8/10 one hole shots. Sorting.. at least with this tin.. made a big difference.

As Paul Harrell often says, though with respect to velocity, "not enough difference to make a difference."

*I am not a good enough shooter to bother doing all of this just yet! Haha* _I might give it a try one day to push the range a bit._

With a new Gamo .22 cal and 14.3g pellets I started getting 5" groups at 35 yards. After shooting a few hundred rounds I was getting 3" groups at 20 yards. I made some changes I thought were nutso (washed and lubed the pellets) and got 1-1/2" groups at 20 yards. I'll soon be doing a few more experiments (including sorting by weight) trying to get 1/2" groups at 20 yards. I'd like to get 1/2" groups at 30 yards.

Have you tried any heavier pellets yet? With the JSB 18.13-grains, I was able to get my Gamo Urban down to half-inch groups at 40 yards.

@@AirgunsAreAmazingThanks for asking. Today is jinxed. lol Yesterday I bought 2 cans of heavier pellets for the Gamo plus bought a red dot sight for my Ruger Explorer .177 rifle. And I received a red dot sight for the Gamo yesterday, Monday. The red dot arrived with the box damaged and a part I needed to mount it to a 3/8" dovetail. I suspect the little box wsa loaded into the shipping truck with a drop kick because of the driver playing Super Bowl. I sent the Gamo back today for a replacement and mounted the sight I bought yesterday onto the Ruger. The sight for the Ruger wouldn't adjust to elevation. . . . sigh . . . . I took the sight apart to see if I could modify it and I made a change I hope will allow enough elevation adjustment. While taking apart the hard to deal with red dot sight I put the screws in my shirt pocket and lost one. lol But Tractor supply had the right one. I just got back home with the parts a little too late to make any shots even if I get the sight mounted on the .177 and if it will adjust elevation. So I made a bag of popcorn and sat down to chill out a while. Maybe I can get the sight on the Ruger tomorrow and hope my mod works. I haven't a clue when the replacement sight for the Gamo will come. I hope your day was better.

@@AirgunsAreAmazingWow. That's a tight group. Congratulations ! I did buy some heavier pellets, but so many distractions kept me from trying them yet. However, I think I found at least part of my problem. When I first mounted the scope and tried to remove the scope lens cover it was obstructed by a rifle part (that Gamo magazine) which I like a lot. So I moved the scope away from the magazine and evidently moved the scope too far. The scope ring was close to the turret and I didn't think it was significant. But evidently it was significant because today after I moved the scope enough to get the scope mount ring maybe 3/4" from the turret my groups are a lot better at 30 ft. I'll first try my same 14.3g pellets at 60 ft AND will try each of my other pellet weights. And I'll give a try with those pellets that are doing so good for you. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

I shoot the Crossman Premier Ultra Magnum in my Gamo .22 air gun and I've been really happy with them. I also have some Gamo wad cutters and they are absolutely junk and not molded well at all. Now I need to pick up some JSB Heavy Diabolo's since you said they shoot great in your Gamo air rifle.

To be honest I couldn't be bothered. I pay extra for the JSB and H&N pellets and depending on the grade they sort them in the factory.

It's pronounced Dee-ablo. It means Devil 👌

That’s a common mistake. You’re not noticing the spelling. It’s D-I-A-B-O-L-O. The Spanish word for devil only has one O. The head and skirt on these pellets create a shape similar to a diabolo juggling prop. 👌
