I've got a Machine mikro, and the purpose was that I didn't have the cash to spend on a full Maschine, but I also wanted to get the usefulness out of all those Maschine libraries I have with Komplete. So the Mikro gave me access to the Maschine workflow without the large spend.
Given the release of Push 3 and it's main feature being MPE, I'm guessing the next Maschine release will be focusing on adding this in order to compete, as well as bringing it into software of course. Probably in the next 12 months or so.
That would be cool. I myself would rather see maschine bring a improved linear timeline arranger view. Something similar to how ableton does it, even if it's basic. We already have a session type view, let's get a arrangement type view. If the software had that I'd could do most of my production inside maschine and could get more creative with the arrangement. Not to mention it would save me a ton of time. After that I could just export the audio from my group tracks into cubase for further muxdown and have it ready for song recording
There are 2 things I would love to see in the next keyboard - a TP8/SK keybed for poly AT and a bit of rearranging the layout as there is enough space even on the 49 to fit all the interface elements from maschine. Many already have or do not need an audio interface so that is not needed IMHO.
This is the one I've been waiting on for 5 months! I Almost bought the 9 for $99 sale, but since i already knew i would be upgrading to k14 ultimate (from k13 ult) when SOS rolled around, i did the comparisons and realized all the expansions i wanted to get, (pluss so many more) come with k14 ultimate collector's edition....so it was a no brainer to just wait for this sale and upgrade to collector's edition instead. I always try to use your afl links when you have them Jef, this time will be no different 👍✌️
Every time I watch one of your videos, my temptation concerning a Mk3 grows. Since I have Ultimate 14, though, I wish there was a hardware-only option among the sales as a nod to existing customers who don't need an additional sw license.
Thanks for being honest/blunt on some of the content in Komplete being of somewhat limited value! Also, there seems to be quite a bit of strategic re-orientation going on at NI. Not entirely surprising, due to the ownership change a while ago, along with the merging under the new umbrella company. But for long time NI customers, the new NI value propositions may no longer align in the same way. While once upon a time NI was at the leading edge of virtual instrument design and being a platform for 3rd party library makers, that seems to be dwindling. The new NI is much more of a library maker. Since I gravitate more to instruments than libraries, I’m contemplating hopping off the Komplete train (which I was on since Komplete 2 in the early 2000s), and just update to Kontakt 7. p.s. the re-branding of NI also seems to indicate a break with the past. The new logo seems to be more of a brand reset, rather than a refresh. Interesting times!
Indeed! And you'll keep all of your Komplete stuff for years anyhow... They traditionally making hopping back on the wagon very affordable so a few years to re-evaluate!
I just upgraded from K13 Ultimate to K14 Collectors.. It seems that all of the Software I buy into, I max it out eventually... Hoping its a good buy, as really the only difference is all the expansions.
I’ve been using Maschine for years and only recently decided to learn a DAW. I went with FL Studio and got the FL Key keyboard. I think that may have been a mistake and Ableton Live might integrate better with Maschine. Also, I like controllers and the Push 3 looks great. Should I ditch FL Studio and go down the Ableton Live route?
I did this a couple years ago. And while live has a great workflow, I still come back to FL for certain types of flows. To be honest, the only thing FL needs is a proper live performance mode and it’d be good enough.
Man, tough call! Have any friends that produce similar music? I always say stick with what those around you use for collab/ help! Otherwise, if you're into anything live related then Live is the best... anything film composition related Cubase is top of the class... anything sample/beatmaking Maschine is the best... working in pro studios? Pro Tools! Film/ game audio? Nuendo!! Cheap and free updates for life? Logic!! (+iPad!). Those are my thoughts with my experience ;)
Thanks Jef! For years I hoped that NI would make a full DAW but that doesn’t look likely anytime soon. I’ll continue to primarily use Maschine and I’ll be updating from Komplete 12 to 14 soon. I wanted to learn a DAW to arrange, mix and master. I’ll use FL for now and try a trial of Live. I record bass and guitar, so Live might be good for that. FL Studio has free upgrades for life so I’ll always have the option of returning to it.
It's a pity NI have such a limited Audio Interface selection. Have no problems with NI software, but people need to know, that all this new stuff with big libraries, needs like one computer per plugin if one tries pushing stuff.
@@jefgibbons Nar man, it's far more complex than ram. L2 cache is the most important thing. And then it's into Dante or rednet stuff, though RME are still one of the best.
Thinking about getting Komplete Standard + Maschine bundle before it's too late. I use Ableton and wonder how well Maschine integrates with Ableton. Is it a struggle? Non-intuitive? Do you happen to have any videos in your channel about Maschine and Ableton integration? That could really help me make my decision!

I bought the upgrade to Komplete 14 CE. I would never get individual instruments / effects / expansions as I always go for a full version and I would not want to pay twice for the individual items. Something to note is that Orchestral Tools sell the outdated version for Kontakt. They state that it will not be updated as they sell their updated version for their own Sine player. At least that is what I heard, have not checked it out though.
I just bought a Maschine Mk3 and while I love it, there's something wonky with Windows and the maschine standalone software. I've had NO problems on Macs with maschine mk3. I am not sure it's a bug in maschine that I'm hitting, it just might be that the audio interface drivers on Windows, or the windows 10/11 OS itself, has a hard time with realtime audio with maschine software. Windows has all kinds of crazy things like DPC latency and ASIO drivers going into bad states also. Komplete + Maschine + 32gb RAM Mac M1 = LOVE.
W11 is very capable of real time audio, but there’s definitely more fiddling required to get things dialed in. If you have a desktop with an nvidia card, I’d definitely recommend the studio drivers (vs game ready). I had a related issue with core parking, make sure that’s turned off. I do miss being able to create an aggregate audio device.
I'd say you're probably good unless it's hitting you right away! What kind of stuff do you do? (other than being one of the top supporters of us RU-vid creators!)
I bought a Mascine mk2 years ago and got my first Komplete (I think it was 6) as a bundle with it. Then every Komplete I've had since then has been an update from the last. Sometimes I wonder if I bought the latest Maschine mk3 would I be able to sell the software licence that comes with that (and the copy of Komplete Select) to someone else with my old Maschine. No idea, but it would be frustrating to not be able to sell my old Maschine because all my other licences are tied to it.
I'm gonna upgrade from 13 ultimate to 14 U even though I already bought most of their new virtual guitars. One other topic: what do you (and others here) think about the Logo / Branding redesign. The letter K from Komplete is a bit odd. (almost like a play or pause icon, but it’s strange with the curved legs of the K.)
Heartshinemusic: Keep in mind that any of those instruments that you bought separately (like the Guitar series) that you didn't get through an earlier Komplete bundle can be legitimately resold and then you'll get new licenses in your new K14U. NI is exceptionally cool about that.
Yes, while the jam hardware is no longer made, it works great with the latest Maschine software. The JAM plus the MK3 controller can even be used together. The JAM gets you performance/mix and expression capability and some pad control stuff, but no visual sample editing and resampling workflows. I am looking to buy a used Jam to add to my mk3 because it has all those performance control strips. (Touch strips that work like faders).
@@WarrenPostma I bought one from JP and it was barley used..still trying to learn all the functions!! Why did they stop making it? Ableton push 3 copied a lot of the functions.

We get it… You don’t have to constantly mention how you don’t need to talk up NI to make a living (though the purpose of this whole video is to talk up NI). It’s a turn off. All RU-vid music influencers are shills. That’s just what it is. Doesn’t mean we don’t respect you and your skill.
