Juno: "Females hate conflict" *she says casually, after sexually assaulting a classmate to assert her dominance and prove a point*

The characters aren't just people. They are specifically a gaggle of lovably dumb teenagers.

Just a friendly reminder again, Haru is older than Legosi by a year, and 2 years older than Juno

This episode has one of the best visual gags in the show. Them turning their heads in unison to look at Legoshi I mean.

That scene with Juno solidified her as my favorite character. She subverted my expectations and impressed me.

Is it just me, or is Caleb's singing getting a lot better? He's nailing those high notes.

The fact that Legosi could hide his pain after Haru mistook him for Louis and put on a happy face for her makes him somewhat scarier. 👀

Glad someone else pointed out the blink and you'll miss it 'easter egg' I also love to point out that when Juno first shows up she gets upset at the idea of 'getting used to it' with Legosi, but when dealing with Louis just replying to him with "I'm used to it" and having complete control. It's interesting to see a character that knows exactly what someone wants to hear because of their own experiences. She's a very interesting character and I still want to know what about her past got her 'recruited' to the misfit drama club. Now an addendum for some 'it happened here in the manga' spoilers. There is a very important scene that was cut out from the manga in this episode that sets up things in later episodes. However its extremely impactful on its own and it is implied that the scene did in fact happen, just not on screen. That being said its entirely possible that in season 2 they do a 'flashback' to this scene as a bit of character building. As unlikely as that is I feel it necessary to set up full context when talking about a potential spoiler. Ok, so Bill and Louis go to bandage up his hand. Bill makes a remark that while at the Black Market he recognized a small like Louis, its an obvious attempt at a "I'll forget this but you're going to have to share a bit of power and authority with me." power play. Louis response is to pull out a handgun and press it to Bills forehead, forcing him to lay face down.

I always found the train scene impactful, especially when you learn that in the beastars society a carnivore grabbing, or even looking the wrong way at an herbivore is an arrestable offense. No wonder carnivores want equality

The scene with everyone turning their heads to look at Legosi freaking killed me.

I really liked this episode showing more of the relationships and all that mess. Haru hinting to Legosi about how she feels about Luis, and the scene with Juno proclaiming to Luis how she'll beat him and get the guy were awesome. I also liked Haru and Legosi talking together, even if they still have some barriers up. Love me some spicy Juno.

I think Louis was thinking that far ahead. That’s the kind of person he is, he’s had to be cold and calculating to maintain dominance in this world of carnivores. I do think that he was basically choosing his future over Haru. When he said Juno wanted beauty, status, and her favorite male he told her she already had the beauty aspect. He also immediately said that he wouldn’t let her have the status. Then he said that her favorite male Legoshi was harder to get than she realized. He knows how Legoshi feels about Haru and either he’s just that confident, he doesn’t think Haru and Legoshi will last even if they were to get together, or since he knows he can’t have Haru the way he wants her he’s essentially giving her up to maintain his status. Think about it. If he makes Juno the bad guy he may push Haru and Legoshi together but he’ll make Juno seem terrible and he gets to stay in control. He’ll end up losing Haru anyway but as long as she’s happy he may just be good with Legoshi having her as long as Juno loses. She basically demeans him and declares war. She makes him have to give in. Something I’m sure he resents. It might make him irritated enough to be like, “hey if this is what you want then go on ahead but when things fall apart for you don’t blame me.” I might be making him a but more maniacal than he is but he could also just be that petty. Just throwing this out there. I finished this series already anime wise so I’m just speculating on intention at this point. *shrug*

I wouldn't say her pushyness is from being new but showing her carnivore side and how she goes for what she wants more

I'm loving how their beastars videos have by far the longest discussions.

Slight censorship of one scene from the manga in this episode, if you want the full impact of it read chapter 30. Just an extension of 1 scene that doesn't need any other background beyond watching the episode.

They are gonna go crazy over the next few episodes, and I cannot wait

My favorite scene is the reaction from the stage crew when Juno compliments the sculpture.

Pause at 14:15 before the camera pans down! Look at the right... So, *RIP* to that iconic scene from the manga during this episode. It's the last-half of chapter 30 - you'll know when you know. *Edit:* That aside, Season 2 is confirmed by Paru Itagaki-sensei herself to come out next year !

50:24 "this isn't an action show" haha just you guys wait for the next episodes :) and oh man if you've read the manga of what would Season 2 and Season 3 be, yep there'd be more action like episode 4 of S1. Also, I don't think this is a spoiler because its a "deleted scene" from the manga, but after Bill scratches Louis here there's a scene on the manga where Louis pulls out a gun on Bill, it was cut because of some stuff that Bill says there doesn't make much sense as well as Louis getting that gun, it was a cool scene though so its kind of a pity that it was cut but they clearly wanted the anime to be more grounded/less silly than the manga in some ways.

Juno is Hot AF

Legosi struggles with connection on more or less three levels with haru usually at the same time romantic, feral and societal his need to come off clear, his desire to get his point across and his desire to keep her around can be interpreted with the hand holding scene. When they take serious relationship issues in the future you can see it again especially one involving the colours red and white.

I won’t be bringing this up until after you see episode 11, but when the show hard cut to Louis getting cut by Bill, there was an important scene that was cut. Again, I’ll wait until you see episode 11 to bring it up.

about the juno and louis scene, i think it's more that for some reason, he as an (uptight) herbivore, is loosing control, yet juno gains that control fairly easily (because she is charming), but it might also be because she has that carnivore aurora? I don't really know how to say it...

lol I thought Legosi had the same voice actor as Black Zetsu from Naruto because of that scene haha, i had to google it to confirm that it's not the same VA haha

Hey going on the line of Louis using the Haru and Legoshi relationship. It could be possible. Yet I think she would never go that route. If Juno made herself a villian to break them completely apart she would lose a chance to be a Beastar. Haru is a black sheep in a sense so any abuse she gets is ignored. But Legoshi is not. He is consistent with his kindness and help for the "whole" of the drama club and he is a talking point at school because of the play drama with Bill. If he were to be very harshly affected and it caused a big stink despite Legoshi mostly wanting it to be disregarded; the drama club would completely turn on Juno. Since the prey-predator friendship wasn't dangerous or threatening, Juno breaking up a seemingly beautiful miracle... She'd be labeled a b!!!H. At least in my opinion.

I love how Juno's declaration of war against Louis kinda sounded like she's trying to fend off Louis as a rival for Legosi's love. I know that it's probably not really meant like that, but I've always thought that Legosi and Louis have the best chemistry within the love square. Whether it's romantic or platonic between them doesn't matter, I just don't really like either Juno or Haru romantically for Legosi and Louis, they'd be better off as friends imo.

This kind of stories can only exist in anime, or just Japan in general. You'll never see a Hollywood movie or Western comic that features a highschool girl that's a slut who sleeps with any man, and she's also a home wrecker that ruins people's relationship, yet still gets developments and in-depth analysis on her psyche. Just looks at how many people lost their mind when Endeavor from MHA got a redemption arc, nowadays western media is so afraid to be offensive, they aren't willing to tap into taboos and explore them in fictions, which is such a waste. The authors respect the audiences enough they know they wouldn't misunderstand it as making a statement, but it's just about telling stories.
