Cont. It's part of the reason I love Morrowind's main quest and ESO's take on Sotha Sil. The Tribunal genuinely did try to help their people directly, rather than play tricky games on the mortals for their own gain. Even at their most vain, they shaped Dunmer culture and resisted multiple widescale invasions from the Akaviri to the Nords to total capitulation by the Imperials. Great lore video! Subscribed.

@@thexith I feel the same way. I wish he had more lines in ESO but it admittedly suits his character well to leave us wanting to hear more from him. With elder scrolls, I tend to be drawn to the world itself more than any specific characters, but I was really surprised at how attached I got to him after just a few lines of dialogue. (Maybe he says more in game than is available on RU-vid. I don’t have a computer that can run the game. But I get the sense there’s probably not much more than what people have archived on here. )

@@thexith Almalexia is the worst of them in my eyes. She makes herself appear as this kind,benevolent almost mother like figure when in reality,she was a lying,manipulative b*tch. Vivec wasn't that much better either.
@@wiibrockster Vivec was the middle child, and it shows, Alma was that young spoiled sibling, and Seht seemed like the wise older brother. I guess Alma fangirls justify her descent into madness by claiming how both Vivec and Seht didn't care for the internal affairs of Morrowind as much as she did - i.e caring or figuratively healing the people of Morrowind. But there are so many other factors at play and situations Seht had to tackle on his own that shine in comparison to the mundane and entitled life Alma and Vivec lead.
@@thexith Vivec was the middle child,definitely while Sotha was the oldest and more responsible child meanwhile Alma is just an entitled little girl,not literally though.
The second insight of being "The Prisoner": "To gaze through the bars and perceive that which exists beyond causality. Beyond time". I think what Sotha Sil meant by this is the ability to comprehend what is beyond the universe of the elder scrolls. The Elder Scrolls universe exists inside a video game and the only character who is aware of that is you, the player. When you play this game you are a prisoner inside it because you are aware of what is outside. Sotha Sil is aware of the reality of his imprisonment which is the first insight but he can't perceive our universe that is beyond the world of the Elder Scrolls games as he puts it:" I see only unsteady walls".
To be fair, the entire purpose behind the psijic endeavor was to have mortals ascend through hardship. It's telling that Azura was the one to forbid the Tribunal from performing what essentially boils down to just that, seeing how there's no explicit restriction to how one ascends as plotted out by Boethiah.

I don't know if the Tribunal murdered Nerevar but whether right or wrong it led to great prosperity for all mortals. And Sotha actually cared about the people and that is why he is my favorite of the Tribunal.
