I like your appreciation of the soul and funk, rolling stone had curtis mayfield listed in the top 100 guitarist of all time, and I agree summertime is soul and funk time, hot and sweaty! thanks for the video.

Curtis - very nice; always loved that cover. Aretha Franklin - I always wanted that album, and I told that to MemphisJim and when we dug at a record show two years ago when he visited, he found it and put it in my bag - what a guy. Great album. I see Shaft lots of times, but it is always messed up so I still haven't gotten it yet. Love Hot Buttered Soul - was glad to find it for $5. Found Black Moses for even less :)

hi armien you got yourself some really nice classic soul lps! American soul music is one of the greatest genres of music to be had I feel. the green onions album is a gem for sure though I have it on a re issue cd. would love to obtain some of these classics for my collection. super stuff! rob

Hallo Armien. Wenn Dir die Shaft mal überm Weg läuft kannst Du gerne zuschlagen :-) Ich hatte mal vor einiger Zeit nach guten Soul-Platten gegoogelt. Die Shaft tauchte immer wieder auf. Den Film wollte ich auch nochmal sehen, bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich den überhaupt schon mal fesehen habe. Sir ebenfalls ein schönes Wochenende! Axel

~~~~~~~Great selection - love Curtis, Isaac Hayes, Temps, Aretha - will check out David Porter now you recommend it! Black Moses is a classic - I love those extended instrumental workouts with the Bar Kays and top arrangements from Mr Hayes

Hi Armien, great video! I totally agree! I listen also to a lot of soulmusic during the summer time, mostly from the 70s or the 80s. But a nice 70s Philly soul record when the sun is burning is awesome and relaxing! I loved these Curtis Mayfield records. I have just started to collect him so i'm looking forward to those one day! That Isaac Hayes soundtrack looks awesome as well. 70s soul soundtrack is really funky and cool! Take care and keep it cool in the heat! ;)

Hallo Armien Schöne Funk und Soulsachen. Ich bin ein Fan dieser Musikrichtung greade Mowtown und Philips hatten in diesem bereich sehr schöne Sachen. Ich mag zum beispiel die Spinners oder Extasy Passion and Pain oder auch mal Funky Jazz von Buddy Miles and Crusaders oder einfach den guten alten Disco Funk z.B.Gerorge Mccrae,Cool and the Gang ETC. Ben Stark Hi Ben, ich bin immer noch nicht ganz fertig mit dem Raum aber langsam nimmt es Gestalt an. Gestern kam ein neuer Teppich, der hat akustisch noch mal richtig was gebracht. Ben Stark Ich glaube da gibt es recht wenige Alternativen. Ne US Erstpressung wäre natürlich extrem geil aber die wird in gutem Zustand auch entsprechend selten und teuer sein. Mit der Music On Vinyl bist du auf jeden Fall gut bedient. Glossy Cover, saubere Pressung, klanglich ansprechend und ich habe sie bei einer JPC Aktion für 17 Euro bekommen.

an orb flys behind you from 1:29 to 1:32. It comes from above to the right of your head, then goes behind you and diagonally across to the bottom left of the screen. There are two more that come after it as well... one big one across the screen and another small one.

Armien, wow. These are definitely some heavy hitters. Curtis Mayfield's solo work is so impressive, but check out his work with the Impressions too. Papa Was a Rolling Stone does have a great bass line. So good.

Great selection of soul! I really need to add Roots to my collection! I do have an OG of the self titled Curtis proudly displayed on my music room wall. Like you I would like to find Dusty In Memphis. Seems to be one record you hear a lot about but never see for sale - must be a good sign! Cheers.

You are living in my weather now.,and October will be great after this summer is over...Booker T was always a favorite of mine,good find..Old soul records are still very popular in the US and Otis Redding is one of my favs also.. Shaft Sound Track and Issac Hayes Buttered Soul,Dusty Springfield. that is Groovy Stuff man ...If you like blue eyed soul ,check out The Edgar Winter Band,they were hot back in the day.,but their biggest song is an instrumental called " Frankenstein" .....Wet Willie is great also..

AudiophileLaws Actuality I made a mistake,it's The Edgar Winter Group and Frankenstein is from the album They Only Come Out At Night .. Any thing by Edgar and Johnny Winter in the the 60s and 70s is great ,he may be the best singer of that era,he can go from low to high in a second and never lose his key ,he could have been a great opera singer maybe....Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter are brothers

Dorka Dezsö Hi Dorka, I have to be very honest on the new music room: I am not 100% satisfied with it at the moment but I am working on it. I bought a heavy carpet at Ikea yesterday and the curtains also do a good job. Never the less I need to think about some bigger speakers or re positioning the ones I have. I also need to do some improvements with the power conditions but it will be a lot of work..... We'll see but I will definitely do a new room tour at some point.
