Hello Friends, I am back with some more Krautrock vinyl finds. Some rare originals and also some reissues. Thanks for watching! Feel free to like comment and subscribe :)
I usually can't handle these kinds of videos.... but yours is great, you have great all round tastes and you're pretty informative and not arrogant at all... keep up the work!!
Some killer pressings there mate. Well done. You're right, i think the right mix of OG's and reissues is the way to go with Krautrock. It's an expensive rabbit hole to go down none the less.
Excellent video and records. I too collect Krautrock records and have sincerely the late 79's when my ears were opened up to what was happening overseas. Ive been grabbing the various reissues myself over the past couple years and for the most part the reissued releases are of the highest quality. Just played Ralf Nowys Lucifers Drean last night for the first spin! Incredible! Recommended eclectic covering various styles but overall worth hearing! Wah-Wah 2016 reissue
Just listened a bit of Birth Control thanks to you! I really like it! Always discovering new music thanks to you! :D The covers of their albums are also amazing!
Organisation und die ersten Kraftwerk! Feine Sache!
Happy New Year and Welcome back!!! Absolutely fantastic finds. Love this psychedelic German Rock can't get enough of it. Operation by Birth Control is a classic to me love the grinding Organ Sounds. One of my favorite heavy organ one's is Night Sun Mournin'. Can't get enough of it anyway. Great pickups on the Eloy stuff as well and really dig that first Guru Guru. I'm gonna look into that pre- Kraftwerk record sounds interesting. -john
Oh yeah! Night Sun is fantastic as well! I tried to get it once but the condition wasn't that good. If you like the grinding Organ listen to: Frumpy - How the gypsy was born. Thanks for watching :)
Now Armien, you realize watching this video is costing me.....excellent update and gave me some insight to something I know little of. Very interesting bands....I gave a listen. I have a hard time with the electronic Kraftwerk, just to synth for me.... liked Krishna until all the talking.....I listened to Guru Guru.....I really have to say........dont take this wrong, but This sounded like me jamming with a band with no structure back in the 80's. It reminds me of a Free Rock instead of Free Jazz......the one that stood out for me was Ashra......and you said it, the vinyl better be clean......Great video. thanks.
Great video man! I heard some of this albuns you tell on video and i liked it all!! I'm from Brazil and here the Kraftwerk's albums was released in english. I got the German version by download and I think it is much better! I wish I could have all their albums in german on vinyl.
Rock solid update as always Armien. Absolutely agree re the genre. Not my favorite but hugely enjoyable and expensive! Due to pricepoint, it forces us to really absorb what we have as opposed to buy them up like mad (although that would be nice too!). Agree entirely re unofficial releases. But, sometimes......ya just have to. Nice to see the Eloy lp's. Only missing three on vinyl, love them and hoping to add them and complete the collection this year. Happy New Year! - Lj
your like the invisible man !! lol... great reviews i will do some searching to get a listen on a few bands.. great to see you well ... cheers from scotland
Armien wow man awesome Kraftwerk 1 I never able to find i did luck up and found Kraftwerk 2 original German press I've been hooked on the German music of the 70s . Man those Neu records look great in would luv to find the first Neu German press on brain luv the sound quality is have the first on billings gate U.S. this is definitely a killer update Armien . lovellandrew
Thanks for watching, Lovell! So cool to hear that you found Kraftwerk 2. It's so hard to find, even here in Germany. All the best for 2017. Happy collecting :) Armien
AudiophileLaws: you're welcome. Your channel is great, love your enthusiasm, you always find great stuff, and it cracks me up hearing you say some of those album and band names in English. You must have a good job, because you buy such good stuff and so much of it! Right after I watched, I listened to that Guru Guru song. Before it was even over, I put in an order for the reissued album. By the way, the title is probably said as three letters, U, F, and O, the abbreviated Unidentified Flying Object. Cheers!
Welcome back I do need some Kraftwerk in my collection. Lately I've been focused on Jazz and Hip Hop. But Kraftwerk has been sampled in early hip hop so..... and some of those Tour De France remixes......... wonderful stuff.
Oh yes man! Kraftwerk was sampled thousands of times. There are some cool videos about sampling them on youtube. Tour de France is such a good album, too.! Thanks for watching :)
Kraftwerk's influence is very understated in modern music. But they influenced EVERYONE and multiple genres too. From Afrika Bambaata to New Order to Nine Inch Nails.
Hi this is a very cool video. Some of my favorite krautrock: German Oak, Walter Wegmuller, Dom, Siloh, Zippo Zetterlinch (I hope I spelled that right), Ash Ra Tempel, Cosmic Jokers...so much great stuff
Amazing collection! You mentioned that krautrock didn't make it so much out of Europe or even Germany. I've always read that krautrock was more popular outside of Germany. It definitely got a following in the States and I know in Belgium, Holland and England there was a bit of a following. I've lived in Germany for ten years and you're the first German I've heard with a considerable amount of knowledge about krautrock. I guess I don't go out so much, but I am aware that krautrock is a cult genre here in Germany. I wish I could run into more folks that know at least as much as I do about it. At any rate, keep up the great collecting!
All killer, no filler! Great finds, and it's really nice to see some bands that are less appreciated, like Niagara, Ton Steine Scherben, and Floh de Cologne. That Bernd Witthüser record is awesome--and it has one of the greatest album titles of all time, hahaha! Regarding Kraftwerk, back when I still had CDs, I sought out the German versions of all their albums, so I've compared them.... while I do prefer the German, it doesn't often make a whole lot of difference, although once in a while, it's really noticeable, like in 'Trans Europe Express', since there's one more syllable in "Europa" than in "Europe"! Hey, do you like Sparifankal? I think that's one of the most underrated records there is... they sound like the Bavarian Velvet Underground!
Thanks for letting me know about your Kraftwerk preference! I do know the group Sparifankal but never listened to any album yet. I will check them out! Armien
Great video and lots of fantastic stuff in there! Especially for the Frumpy stuff you’re so right - they are awesome! It’s a shame I only discovered this great band recently. BTW, I can highly recommend the solo stuff of their drummer Carsten Bohn: CB’s Bandstand (if you’re a bit into fusion music). Maybe you know his music already if you listened to his Hörspielmusik from the Europa label when you were a child???
Man that's so cool to hear! I listened to a ton of Europa Hörspiele. I always wondered about the cool music... I will definitely check out his solo stuff! Thanks for the recommendation
Hi :) Just ran into your channel... Nice albums you review there!... And yes it is not easier to get some albums even if you live in europe... I live in Denmark and have just discovered psych kraut space rock about a year ago, and it is an expensive hobby, but a really cool one! I have listened to some Kraftwerk, Spacelords, Electric Moon and Space Invaders... I am mostly into psychedelic space :) Do you have any suggestions on some bands that I should tjeck out? Please let me know :) ... The last year I have mostly listened to german bands, and boy did i open a present when I discovered them haha I have always loved Germany and as a child I went there weekly... Good food, good beer and good music... What's not to like? :) Thank you and take care! :)
Welcome back long time no see! Fantastic finds for you, were these found at record shows and shops or through the internet? I've had a hard time finding rare stuff like this in the states, most owners do not part with scarce titles like these. Happy New Year and thanks for coming back, look forward to future videos.
Hello mate, great video as always - keep them coming! Please check out these two excellent German bands: My Solid Ground and Carol Of Harvest. Both only released one self titled album each. Very expensive originals, but have been officially reissued and can be found on Discogs.
i have reissue come in the mail.. seller in Canada that i purchase month ago ...let hope get here before the end 2017 i going to keep my eyes open for the original!
Wie Gehts! I just discovered your You Tube video channel today, and its great fun! Actually Kraftwerk are playing their Live 3D Show this weekend in Dublin Ireland. It is sold out and so instead I will try and meet Ralf Hutter before the Soundcheck to get an album autographed. Of course you need some luck for this! Possible? All the best Shane
I'm English but I prefer the Kraftwerk German version. Seems more authentic. That Ash RA New Age of Earth album is fab. I really need to get it on vinyl
As more as I see your Videos which Are great btw. I ask myself. How does all of you vinyl collectors can afford such a expensive hobby? Maybe you can make a video about this? Is it all about buying collections, taking the good ones and selling the doubles? Hmmmm...Hope to get some answers :-)
Yes, I once saw an original copy at a record fair. It was around 800 Euro. It's a super cool album and I would definitely like to get the reissue on Long Hair.
I wanted to take a minute to answer your question regarding Kraftwerk. I seem to have only US English copies, and am now sad. I need to get the German ones so I can hear them as they belong, in German.
Nice collection, i actually own a couple of these records myself : Eloy, Ashra, ... have a lot of Eloys - but german accent is allways somehat an issue. Novalis is also a fav. Of me - di you consider this krautrock ? But my abslute favorite german band is Anyone-s daughter, by far i might add - esspecially the german albums (In Blau, Neune sterne,..). Und zwar auf vinyl.
Oh yes, Novalis are a fantastic band. I do have some of their albums, too. Well... hard to say but I would say it's some sort of folky Krautrock. Thanks for watching :)
I do love listening to Kraftwerk in English, but to listen to them in the German language is interesting since I've been listening to the English releases haha :P
Heavy Shit, kommt schon so irgendwie hin.
I am collecting original German vinyls of Krauftwerk when i can get them and re mastered CDs. They sound so much better in their original language. I live in the UK but have never been able to buy affordable original Kraftwerk Vinyls on my visits to Germany, so I bought them on Ebay. Now sadly also way too expensive due to horrible Brexit people forcing the British pound down against the Euro (better for you I guess!). Thanks for very interesting Video.
I can imagine that the stupid Brexit is bad for all vinyl collectors in the UK. That's sad to hear. Early Kraftwerk is so hard to get, no matter where you live. I still would love to find the double album on the Vertigo space ship label. Thanks for watching :)
AudiophileLaws a shame, best rock group of the netherlands haha. I'm nearby to complete my collection of records and 7". Btw very nice collection of records.
LG
I don't understand German but when listening to Kraftwerk I only listen to the original German version. It just sounds right. I do the same thing for albums by Italian prog band PFM. Some of their albums were translated to English but I don't like how that sounds so I stick with the original version.
