I totally agree. Now the voices of dead people will making music again thanks to Artificial Intelligence. If we had more talented people making music, there would be no place for it.
From Bill Graham to Bootys Collins Standly Clark We Think of Bass String Plucking Yet Violin 🎻 Players Also Use a Technique Called Pizzicato Which is Plucking of The Strings and What is a Bass a 4 String Upright Bass is What Leo Fender Created When He Invented The Electric Bass Guitar 🎸 So Plucking of The Violin 🎻 Strings Was Done During The Classics
We watched The Midnight Special Friday nights, American Bandstand on Saturday, and Soul Train on Sundays....we got a real mix of artists and styles...good times.
I am still in awe of Chaka I love her art&craft and when she add her "WALL OF CHAKAS" Her own background vocals that Carmel oozing magic truly she is our "SWEET THING" Her dear friend "Pepsi Charles" And may her peace be eternal . Said that Chaka is a genie truly magical!
NEVER CAN GET ENOUGH OF MY FAVORITE FEMALE VOCALIST CHAKA KHAN HOW SPECIAL ALL OF THESE GROUNDBREAKING ARTISTS WERE & TRULY ARE STILL TODAY🌹GIVE YOURSELVES A HAND BRAVO🔥
@@chasehadley5230 SHE IS PART BLACKFOOT INDIAN!!! BITCH............Chaka Khan As a descendant of the Blackfoot Tribe, what the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is going through on Thanksgiving is tragically ironic & unacceptable
I was born early 60's... First met Chaka in 79' at New Orleans Jazz Fest, back stage - she was sitting outside - me and my best friend were taking pictures of her - Chaka looked at us and motioned for us to come over to her. The Security let us in - Chaka asked if we wanted to take pictures with her? We were like.. Yes Chaka of course. She posed with each of us - then had her security take a picture of her with us both - after the pictures she kissed both of us on our cheek... Chaka Juicy Lip stick print on our Cheek💋... needless to say me and my buddy didn't wash that side of our face for like 2 weeks... Love u Chaka 😍
There is only ONE Mavis Staples and as you said no one sounds like her. Soul oozing from this lady. She has what I call a "Baptist Church" voice; full and packed with flavor.
Chaka Kahn Damn The First 3 Albums Was a Mix of Rock Soul and Blues Fantastic Band The Staple Singers Back in The Day and Even Now You’re Record Store Had The Staple Singers In The Gospel Section Not The Soul or Rock Section They Where Hard To Find Because The Fact of The Matter Is The Staple Singers Are a Gospel Group Their Music 🎶 Bridged Across Rock And Soul Yet Their Roots Are Steeped In The Baptist Church So If You Did Pick Up a Early Staple Singers Album You Got Classic Gospel Music Their Proformance at WATTS/STAX The Los Angeles Coliseum is Testimony To Reach The Masses and Spread The Holy Spirt Mavis Staples is Still With Us At 84
I'm so glad to have been born at the right time to witness these great artists when they (and I) were at their prime! Few of today's top acts have the talent to cut it live- yes there are a few but only a FEW and they are increasingly reliant on production and the acceptance of audiences to allow them to "cheat`' in their "live" shows where technology plays such a central role whereas back in the day using the stuff live would've ended a career.
*THE BEST* The Midnight Special was far better than MTV. All the acts were singing live. Also Don Kirchner's Rock Concert was another outstanding Live music television show
Wow! What thrills me about this is when RUFUS goes into the instrumental! Right before ONCE YOU GET STARTED! That's a Jazz\Fusion tune they play called DAY RIDE! Link = ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-boaajqczYPc.html
Great music during this period. So many great groups, who just got on state and performed. The women did not need to get half naked and the groups did not need to stage a production with 100 other people on stage. I guess if you have talent, that's all you need.
James Brown is The God Father of Funk & Soul, there will Never Be Another Man like this Master of The Stage. You are truly missed with your powerful soul & energy. God bless what you brought to the Black people.
I have some Midnight Special DVDs They are always a treat including this compilation. This is just FANTASTIC, so glad I was alive and well during the 70's and 80's. ❤❤
watched most of these when I was a teen in WI if I could stay up. Was never disappointed by who was on...and as long as Wolfman Jack was on he could carry the show. Precious memories for sure.
Every Friday night this Extremely Great Entertainment came on your local broadcast television network!! Hosted by Wolfman Jack and featuring the Top acts in the music industry, every week, Live. Everything from wired speakers and TV's synched to stereo systems to maximize a surround sound. The brainchild of Mr Burt Sugarman, and the sizzling VJ of Wolfman, nothing of this magnitude hasn't happened since. Thank you for posting, and Long Live the Midnight Special ❤❤❤❤
Sugarfoot and those Players from OHIO. Yes!! I do not know what was in the water during the 70's but the entire state of Ohio produced a plethora of Funk, Soul and simply badass musicians, bands and songs that will never fade.
it's never gonna be like this again😮💨 let's hold on to our old skool cd's the best we can because the memories are inside of all of the old skool players walking god's green earth💯❤
The reason why we don't have good music 🎶 anymore !! It's because they don't have music classes in the school anymore 😞. Like when I was going to school 🏫 I'm 65. That's were a lot of these great music groups come from 😊
I think I would've Danced right outta my shoes if I had ever got to hear any of James Brown's beat live and in person!!! Oh my....we thought he was everythang
Had the chance to see him perform live twice while growing up. As an adult I passed is bus on the south side of Atlanta on I-285. I guess he was headed to the house and I was headed to pick up or deliver.
Wow. Sometimes I can't believe this really Chaka Khan. You gotta start somewhere sometime. I didn't really know she existed before her popularity in the 80s. Much respect my lady!!
This 60 year old white boy is STILL in love with Chaka Khan. Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, Let me rock ya, Chaka Khan, come on, let me rock ya, that’s all I wanna do …
Chaka sets the gold standard for female vocalists. I still will occasionally say (when referring to one that doesn't cut it)...." Well she ain't no Chaka Khan ya know 😆
Chaka is gorgeous but you don't know what you're talking about. The Indians are descendants of Paleo-Siberian nomads who migrated to this continent across the Bering strait. They're Asiatic, not African. Take a class.
It's 2 woman from the 70s and 80s I'm head over hills for and they're both old enough to be my mother lol , Chaka Khan and Phyllis Hyman 😍😍 Chaka was special such an amazing voice them 2 on a song would of been magical RIP Miss Hyman
The Staple Singers Visited and Performed in South Africa in 1982. Their Music was popular and Loved by Black South Africans. Finally I saw them Live at the Durban City Hall. " Let's Do It Again".
Athletic choreography throughout the clip! Anybody notice that in the days of NOW... us flittering our lives away on these technical devices, you can't even slip a dime under the feet of dancers today?
Seriously, I am from Detroit and it was AMAZING every day, the radio was outstanding and tv put on these great programs with such talent for all of us FOR FREE
I heard The Manhattans' I'm Gonna Miss You more times in South Korea than I care to remember. Whenever a GI was about to leave country you could tell it because the girl he was with in the club would start crying when the song started to play.
