Look how In shape mostly all of these people were 🤗 This was back in the days, when food was food and right was right and wrong was wrong. Wish those days could come back 😢
Now THAT was real soul dancing & music im 54 and loved the 70's. Todays folk will NEEEEVER KNOW! Woman dressed casual and looked so BEAUTIFUL! THOSE WERE REAL EBONY QUEENS
Many of these people are grandparents or great-grandparents now. What a lovely gift it is to see them in action in their beautiful, electric youth, boundless with unlimited initiative and light. Thank you so very much. Peace!
For a white family in the Bronx, we never missed the Soul Train and made up our own line dance with a bit of Turkish twist. You are right though my cousins are near their eighties and retired age...
Or your grandparents LMAO.. I think we took all the "cool" with us when we left our youth behind. You guys wish you had the groove we had. Y'all just nasty LMAO.
People always ask me why I have so much sadness when I think of the 70's and early 80's and this is exactly why: the clothes, music, dancing, tv shows, radio stations (WLS), cars, magazines, movies, and it goes on and on. Unless you lived then, you'll never understand. There will never be another time like it. Since 1987, this world has sucked.
Well, at lease ONE grandchild knows how cool his grandparents were. Check out this clip, then the first comment: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UhZFzrPsIwM.html
I love how each couple is so co-ordinated in clothing style, dance style, while still having mad rhythm. Each couple shown are meant to be in every sense.
I always feel so understood when I come to the comment sections of Soul Train videos. As a young person in today’s world, people my age like to dismiss my admiration and appreciation of the 60’s and 70’s, saying I’m an old-head or that I’m living backwards. “Oh, never heard of them! Well, do you listen to any * insert trash present-day musician here? * I hate it! :( And, not to make this about me, but funnily enough, I always get compliments on my personality and my outfits, and I 100% credit it to my inspiration drawing from the pure class and charm of these past decades! I wish young people today would understand that it’s not about new and old. It’s about timelessness and purpose. Look at these people, the way they dress, the way they style their hair, the way they move... listen to their music!!! Everything was tasteful, classy, and *made to last.* Everything is so come and go these days. And no one knows how to and doesn’t even want to dance anymore! I’d rather be listening to 70’s songs that have stood the test of time rather than all the disposable garbage that gets played on the radio today. I’d rather dress sharp and with class, have my clothes fit me properly than throw my money away on expensive logo mania or oversized sweatsuits or wear skimpy lingerie and leggings to the club... I’d rather wear minimal makeup than have thick drawn on eyebrows and caterpillar eyelash extensions! God those eyelash extensions are terrible!!! And gosh, those men all look so handsome, so sharp and so confident. I love the way they dance and move. Guys these days... don’t even get me started. Canada Goose vests and Gucci flip flops are not sexy!!! One thing is for sure, if you’re lucky enough to know of the value of these decades, you should know you’re on the right side of mankind; the excellence that made those decades really are undeniable forces of good. I don’t value this stuff to “be different” than the typical youth of today... I just want to experience things that have purpose and quality... I crave the experience of excellent work, that’s all! This is a very long comment but I just had to say thank you to everyone who still has good taste!!! It makes me happy to know I’m not the only one. ❤️
Wow! Thanks for saying all that. I am 58yo and you've inspired me because so many my age feel that the ideas and values we hold are irrelevant and have no impact in today's world. It is so refreshing and nice to know that some in the younger gen do understand and prefer quality, realness and substance in an era when very little is offered. I applaud you and wish you much success and happiness in shining your light into this world for present and future generations
@@sbella6719 Your comment made me tear up! You made my day. Thank you very much for your kind words. It isn’t easy being young these days, especially so when your values and taste differ so much from today’s youth... but you have inspired me to keep it up, to always remember and cherish what is good in this world and its history... and to share the good and make sure that it continues to be known of. I can only speak for myself, but I will forever value the gifts that your generation has blessed the world with! Though it seems the world at large is completely lacking in every sense today, good work and brilliant art will live on no matter what... God bless you! ❤️
It's this kind of thing that makes me happy to be a human being. Beautiful to simply watch people dancing with no insecurity and living their best life. Yes
DAMMIT!!!! These guys DANCE, and they dance SOOOOOOOOO well!! They perform these dances as couples, and by their moves, you can tell all of them couples are together, they are one, they coordinate and synchronize not only their clothes, but their attitudes, styles and moves. Try, dammit, try to find today some young couples with that kind of grace and harmony, dancing in front of a crowd with nowhere to hide... You'll be searching for decades before finding one. I suddenly feel very, very nostalgic of that era.
@@mikesacco8457 That's not necessarily true. Not all black people can dance. I am black but I am not a good dancer at all. I know some white people who dance really well.
@@ashleydowney1222 NOT LIKE BLACK PPL,BLACK PPL HAVE A NATURAL SMOOTHNESS ABOUT THEM,WHITES AND OTHERS LOOK AS THOUGH THEY HAVE REHEARSED,COPIED,AND PRACTICED ...JUST SAYING and almost EVERY POPULAR DANCE / MOVES CAME FROM BLACK PPL.THEY MAY DO WELL,BUT IT IS JUST NOT THE SAME AS BLACK PPL.GIVE props where they are due do not take awY or downplay the compliment..
Bad eating, tattoo over kill, likes of Cardi B Kardasians polluting our young women's minds. Thug life mentality, vulgar rap and idolizing entertainers and athletes instead of God.
Not only could these folks dance, they really knew how to throw an outfit together. Too bad people don't take pride on how they look, especially on television
YEAH BACK WHEN BLACK PEOPLE ESPECIALLY WOMEN WERE NOT 150 TO 1000 POUNDS SQUEEZING THEY BIG ASSES. AND THIGHS FAT OVERWEIGHT. TAILS IN LEGGINGS AND SKINNY JEANS🤣
These people look like they fell out of a fall catalog for a department store. I wonder if they were allowed to wear clothes for advertising. There was such a variety of styles.
I loved this show as a kid, lol! I still love me some classic R&B! But my daughter won’t let me dance and sing along when I hear it at the grocery store, lol!
Excellent shows. Also, when we went out, we had the choice of "record spin" dance clubs and clubs that had live bands. What a marvelous era. Full of romance and excitement.
Yeah ladies, back in the day! I remember when men would open the car door for us, give us their seats on the bus, and not use profanity when a lady was around. In some ways we've stepped forward and in others--way, way back.
So lucky and so true!!! Isn’t it strange how it seems to have gotten a little better but also worse in terms of how women are treated? I’d swoon like crazy if a man like one of them in this video would just kiss the back of my hand... and it’s like, do guys even do, or think to do that these days!? Sigh... I need a time machine!!!!
No rhinoceros butts, no cankles, no baking bread in the shoes. Just simply beautiful and athletic black folks. I wish those days didn’t have to go go going gone
God, THESE WERE THE DAYS!! People, women AND men, dressed beautifully and it was awesome, dancing was REALLY dancing, the music and singing was phenomenal and no auto tune bullsh*t, no overload of technology but face to face socializing and people knew how to talk to other people, manners actually counted as something valuable to have and use, no growth hormones in the food (look how trim everyone used to be! NATURALLY), people gave a damn about the planet, other people, what was happening in our country and our world and what was happening to those less fortunate, AND PEOPLE HAD SOUL ❤️I swear, sometimes it’s like humanity’s very soul has been amputated in these days we live in now 😢

Like Jesse Jackson said back then. We lived in the ghetto, but the ghetto was not in us.
Love it. It’s beautiful miss those day’s. Everything was normal and beautiful. Just simple.People knew how to dance. No disgusting nudity or nasty words to the music no fake plastic people just naturally beautiful people.
Fun days..party hard n went home..safe n in one piece..makeup enhanced you, not buried you underneath layers n layers, YOU are no longer visible..clothes stylish, classy..music spoke of love n yes sex, not raunch n violence n disrespect of self n women...❤️❤️.
At that level of grace and beauty, you had to. And Don Cornelius knew what he had. He actually started on Chicago public television ca. 1968 and it was a huge hit even in that limited local market. Those kids had to audition, and they worked on those routines like it was a regular 9-5, and you know what? It was beautiful and wonderful and magnificent, and I’ve never seen anything on TV quite like it, before or since. American Bandstand? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄😬😱🥱😂 Soul Train vs. American Bandstand was like Art Afron’s 700+ mph jet car vs. a Model T. Soul Train totally rules, even though it’s been off the air for more than 20 years. SOUL TRAIN RULES!!!
I love the 70s and I wasn't even born in the 70s. I was born in 1982 but the 70s is one of my favorite decades. I just love the music from then, the style, the TV shows, movies, and the way they all danced
Wow I’m having fun watching this & I can only imagine what a blast this musta been in person Wow what a time to be young & at the soul train dance line recording! 👍😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼 Fantastic video thanks for sharing 👏🏼😉✌🏼♥️
Love the guy with the sweater tied around his neck with the black pants and white shirt he was getting down. Reminds me of my Uncle Leroy during family functions. He was always up dancing.
The first strains of this song made me get up to dance while watching. Mr. Wonder's tunes never grow old. Look how slim we all were back then!! How many pounds ago was this?? SMH Stevie sang a mouthful: "I wish those days. could. come back once more ...."
I used to watch this show every Saturday afternoon in the 1970’s and I am as white as you can get, lol. What an awesome show, way better than Bandstand!
Everyone wasn't skinny, perfect or pure back then BUT people had a more wholesome (healthy) mindset that became manifested in their attitudes, bodies and behavior.
You could wear every one of those outfits...even today...timeless. Love watching these old ST clips...reminds me of how wonderfully alive this world used to be.
why does it MATTER skin color, when appreciating a musical genius????? Stevie Wonder has been my top musical hero since Songs/ Key / Life . I was about 14 yrs the year Sings/ Key / Life LP released. Im caucasian. I dance ,too -- and????
I know this show made sure they had the most "attractive" peeps on board, the train...but i'm thinkn also back then...there were less fast food places and GMO....most people back then were on the healthier weight side..... i know noone probably cares about this genius insight. This style of dancing especially the 70's Soul Train dancing should never go out of style.
What can I say. It wa a golden age. The music, dances and wow the fashions were just sooooooooo much better! So glad I was young then. We had style, class and exuded a sense of pride in our culture and who we were. I LOVED IT!
