I totally agree, you can tell it's a bit of a new strange thing for some people, because the comments seem to just avoid the movie, it was a fourth of the video but there are almost no comments talking about it.

Foreign films can be incredible, Another Round is one of my favourite films. Also, the Bridge (Bron/Broen) is complete genius.

I was kind of bored during it tbh. I guess I cant relate to a 7 year old girl.

@@dislike_button33 Wasnt a problem when it ended. Everyone was so unlikable in that movie. The little girl was selfish, the dad was dumb, the lord was an idiot, the kids were assholes, the wolf girl was a savage, im not sure what people liked about it. I guess the rough animation style?

Yup. It looks really lovely but I know I'll never get Apple TV+. I don't even know if we have it in my country yet; that _could_ theoretically mean that some other streaming site holds the rights in Finland (for example, there's no CBS All Access here so Star Trek: Discovery is on our Netflix) but it's more than likely that Apple is holding on to everything they have, so they have as much exclusive stuff as possible, which essentially kills every interesting project they fund. People aren't gonna get a third or fourth service just to watch one movie.

At first I thought people hated on Apple TV+ due to the lack of content but then I recently learned it’s mostly only on Apple devices. They really need to expand the service and add more content, especially with something as good as Wolfwalkers. Haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard very good things about it

@@jsmarch9022 i think ESC shines the most when you dont take it too seriously. i, of course, want a good song to win but i watch ESC because i want to have fun. the numbers that people remember are usually the ones with a comedic tone to them, not necessarily the best ;)

That's good to hear. THe movie looks really interesting, even if only for the art as a first impression, but this is the kind of stuff I wanna support, just not through a Subscription.

I saw it with my family and none of us were all that enthusiastic about it. It had some interesting ideas, but I feel like it borrowed too many elements from other animated projects. The whole "there's this hidden world that directly affects humans but they don't know about it" concept was done a lot better in Inside Out in my opinion. The world-building and rules were kind of hastily explained and left a lot of questions. I also found the idea of "sparks" kind of contrived. The human character designs were cool, but I hated the pastel-colored blobs they had in their soul-form. I get that the souls are supposed to be genderless manifestations, but they could have taken that to a more creative direction than essentially designing them as blue Minions. The body-swap thing worked because it tied to the story, but the concept itself is kind of cliched and overdone in animation. The break-up in the final act felt very forced. I also agree with Alex that 22 was kind of obnoxious. I think Soul's strongest aspects were the quieter moments and the music. Most of the comedy was pretty lame. Overall I'd give it a 6/10.

Show them Wolfwalkers instead. It's better anyway.

@@Angel_Investor_Music I agree, Soul’s main problem is that Inside Out is better. If Inside Out didn’t exist, Soul would be an instant classic. I didn’t have a problem with the blob form at all. The Jerrys were where the animation got creative, so it makes sense to complement that with a simple design. Yes, body swap is usually a terrible plot line for a movie, but here it works very well, and adds so much to the overall story (also, it never becomes too silly. On my first watch through, I was certain 22 would have to play at the concert in Joe’s body. I am so glad that they didn’t do that, because that is ‘cliche’) I think it was genius that despite 22 being so unlikeable, we still somehow cared for her throughout nearly the whole story (I mean, maybe you didn’t, but I was invested). That is quite a feat. My major problem with the film is Moonwind, as he is not only incredibly unfunny, but the more you think about it, the less sense it makes (also, much of the Soul World Exposition gets boring on rewatches). Still, I must give credit where credit is due: Soul is the first movie in a long time to make me cry happy tears. That scene where he remembers his past (moments important to him) somehow touched me deep inside, and made me consider my life in the context of everything. Especially after that shot of zoomed out NYC, with slow moving traffic. God, it’s so beautiful. Overall, I won’t give it a score out of 10, but I would rank it in the Top 10 Pixar films. Films that I think are better than Soul are: ToyStory, ToyStory 2, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL E, ToyStory 3, Inside Out, (not sure about Coco, I will have to think about it more). All in all, Soul was the perfect ending to 2020, and the perfect way to close the Pixar 2010’s era. Also, this is Pixar’s first film where the main character is a middle aged normal man. Take a moment to digest that fact: It took Pixar 25 years (22 films) before they finally made a movie with a normal, middle aged man as the main character. Quite fascinating

Wolfwalkers being an Apple+ exclusive really decreased it's popularity. No one I know uses Apple+. If they went with Netflix or Amazon or HBO Max people probably would be talking about it more.

Well to each their own. I personally think it worked quite well, partly because the movement, lighting, and texturing worked really well in blending it in with its environment. So if you ask me, it feels like everything worked out quite well by the end.

Yes, it is. It's a movie for everyone. Just because it has mature themes regarding existentialism doesn't mean it's just for adults. It's not about the theme, it's about how it's portrayed. Obviously, Soul is much more of a kids' movie than Taxi Driver is, yet they both deal with existentialism.
