SoulCalibur VI is upon us! With that in mind here are 7 essential tips to get you started on your journey and help you understand how this game works! Timestamps for each tip are provided in the video description if you want to skip around!
I need ur opinion, is this game like tekken in general game mechanics? I dont really like tekken 7, and I'm more a 2D fighting gamer. The thing I dont like about tekken is that each character has too much moves which kinda tiring to memorize all of them...
@@mochiasdessert It is not. Though they share a lot on paper in how they play, the feel completely different to play. Maybe you should see if a buddy will parsec or gameshare? It's best if you see for yourself.
Although they are both 3D fighters, Soul Calibur is nothing like Tekken. This game is way more approachable and more simplified than Tekken. However, in Soul Calibur each characters do have a ton of moves, but the Developers do a great job on organizing the characters move list. For example, if you Pick Kilik, you'll see in his command moves there's a list for "Main Moves", or " Horizontal Attacks", "Kick Attacks" and etc. Furthermore, The game does have a simple tutorial that's added to the Character creation Story mode that teaches you basic movements and attacks. And finally, the devs actually have a quick read Combat lessons on how to play for Each character in Soul Calibur 6. To make a long story short, Soul Calibur 6 does have a tutorial, while the Tekken series do not.
@@Sushi-Katana true but it never gets the sales it deserves. I personal think this is the best fighting game around but the sales are poor compare to tekken and Mortal kombat.
@@Sushi-Katana Yeah its recognized but its definitely not played or talked about enough, EVERYONE loses their shit when a MK or Injustice comes out. It immediately makes it to trending on RU-vid
1:30 I know I haven't finished the video yet but I really wanted to point out that I think you got this mixed up. L-Low (hits standing) M-Middle (hits crouching) H- High(misses crouching unless its a uppercut. Then idky its labelled high particularly) I'm sorry, I just don't want misinformation spreading even if on accident. I'll finish the video now '3' EDIT: Light, Medium and Heavy attacks are based off the attack levels of the moves and unfortunately aren't listed in game.
Oh woops then. I was looking for a "light" category move to show off that particular astaroth lethal hit, and just picked that at random so I correlated the L to light. Didn't even cross my head for a second LMH=light medium high. Then its a shame there is no way to tell from the menu which attacks count as light mediums and heavies.
Just started to watch the vid n this part instantly catches my attention as well. I was like "wait, that's not right. LMH is supposed to stands for Low Mid High in any 3D FGs". Light Medium Heavy terms only exist in 2D FGs as far as i know :)
A new game, that means plenty more educational videos! Combos tips etc you name it I will be covering Soul Calibur VI! (and no don't worry dbfz stuff ain't going anywhere!)
Should I use dpad or analog. I have been using analog since February and I can do complex combos like bardock loops. I'm hearing if I want to get serious with fighterz i should use dpad. Thoughts?
Big roof, you had me at "welcome back to the stage of history"... Km hosting a Soul Calibur VI release party Saturday and I might just make this video required viewing. Excellent stuff as always. 👍👌
I think this is a pretty good set of 7-things. There is a lot going on in this game even for old players like me. Though if I had to point a finger at something that will murder alot of new players, it's not knowing about Run counters, how to beat super armor and how to beat random supers. Well now to wait for your next tips video. You always have atleast 1 thing in your videos that I never knew :D
Great tips!!! The throw tech was a huge help and the reset for training. Didn’t know about the perfect block so that’s gonna come in handy. Appreciate the video!!
Thank you for the grapple tips. When I played the beta I noticed grabs using B+G were gone. So I had no idea how to throw brake back throws. I can't wait to lab Zasalamel and find more changes in his moveset since Soul Calibur 4 iteration and to always get some guaranteed combos with his new curse/time freeze mechanic.
Great you started doing SC vids! I haven’t played one since 2, and I was just a kid back then and messing around and not taking it seriously. Can’t wait for a voldo video.
Amazing video, thanks so much for this. So detailed-this game is finally making sense to me. This is the best video out there on soul calibur 6 mechanics
This was a great, informative, and very helpful video. Keep up the good work, man! Also, I laughed my ass off at the random text aboout Ivy's Lethal Hit. xD Her and Cassandra, man. Dangerous!
Gaming for a great many years but a fighter newb. Ive put 2 days into this game and loving it. Things are starting to slow down for me. Still button mashing for the most part but getting there. This is an excellent vid, very well put together.
I love all fighting games and will cover games I know I can help people out. So Dead or Alive 6 which is still a whiles away would also be covered. I will mess around in smash but people gotta teach me, not the other way around :-0
Great vid. I like to duck throws. If your opponent falls into a pattern. Try ducking then use throw or while rising move to punish. Also you can guard impact throws to.
These tips will be nice for me to know by the time I get the game! The one's that interest me the most are the lethal hits, the perfect guards, and the throw techs considering the small changes to the throw commands.
You can also guard impact grabs for the first time in the franchise. So that’s important for veterans to know as guard impact typically was countered by grab. Also only voldo and astoroth can tech back grab. Every one else has to eat it.
Learning characters each day! Unlike a bunch of other youtubers I was never given any previous chance to play or access to the game, so I am starting at ground 0 like everyone else and I gotta learn before I can teach :-0
Only played a SC demo decades ago. My thoughts at the time were of how stiff the combat was compared to Bloody Roar. Once I saw Geralt in this one, I gave it a few youtubes to see how it's grown. Game is muuuuch better now, and I'm on my 1st SC game ... but don't know diddly squat. Thanks for the lessons!
Good vid. After watching it & your others, though- I've never won a vs match. Guess other people have played longer & are better. Maybe a catch-22. Any idea how to do air control? Hold a direction right away, keep tapping, or time it somehow? Tried Astaroth style w/my CaS after watching that vid, but maybe it's too tough. Been playing since SC1.
Can we expect an Ivy combo or overall guide? I like the character but she’s always been pretty unique to get a hold of in past games. Keep making great vids. Came to the channel for dbfz, glad to see you playing SC6.
God damn bless you all that go hard with being the best at this game. Seems like there is so much knowledge necessary to properly play rock paper scissors.
Great video, helped a lot. I have a question about recovering? After a knockdown, I would often see high-level players recover to the side or backwards. As in their character would quickly role to the side or quickly role back thus negating some of my attacks. How do I perform a quick recovery to increase my chances of winning? Thank you
1) literally user choice, doesn't matter 2) If you are not used to arcade sticks, pad works more than fine. The days of arcade sticks being better than pads are long gone just go with what you like 3) have fun!
You should always be aware of your surroundings in the game, this is not a game where you will always do x combo because it makes more damage, you should take in consideration if you can make a combo that can lead your opponent to the wall, make a ring out, reset the neutral and one you hit your opponent continue the combo based on that. Of course there are combos that you will always do the same way regardless of your location in the map, but for the majority always think on your best option and what you will do after finishing the combo
@@meathir4921 I dont understand the question. XD you are able to choose to make whatever combo you want depending on the move that the combo started there are different combos.
Im super late to the party but i wanna play this at combo breaker this year. So how do you train properly and how do you know when you are ready to take people on?
Overlooking video a couple times i noticed B+G is no longer the second grab (possibly due to reversal edge) so this means that there is no more "other" grab than A+G or did they change the input for B+G style grabs?
Mentioned a bit in the grab break section. Basic grabs are A+G, or back+A+G. All grabs in the end are either forward a+g grabs, or backwards ones, regardless of whatever motion leads up to them.
I love it monger thnx so much for this very helpful as always but iv been dien to figure out whats the purpose of that line 3/4ths the way to the health bar its really been buggin me since the beta ??? Plz help lol
@@rooflemonger oh wow i wouldv never thought thanks so much your always so helpful and amazing thus why iv made a whole other youtube account to give you an extra sub lol im sure it may be much but some1 as great as you deserves it much love youv helped me in the past be4 you never let me down once im very appreciative keep up the great work and look forward to your future amaizing vids🙏💪😎😊
Can you go over 3D fighter mechanics?I've been playing 2D fighters for almost twenty years but, I don't know anything about 3D fighters. I don't even understand how you mix someone up in a 3D fighter. Like, I'm such a scrub that I legitimately don't even know if there are cross ups in soul Calibur, lol.
Over the following days (and weeks) I will be making more videos covering a wide variety of topics! Not enough hours in a day to cover everything I want to right now just yet.
You seem to know pretty much about this. I have a question. I've heard that you can GI in the Reversal Edge sequence but i've never managed to pull it off. I'm pressing 6 + G but my character always ends up doing a regular G.... i've tried numerous different timings but never suceeded. Is it really possible to do this?
yeah i noticed by a coincidence today when i played. I guess that is the only way. It's fine with me. I love learning new things about this game everyday :)
And so opens a whole new era on the stage of history... I mean, the same era, the 16th century, we're kinda rebooting, so it's old, but it is also new... of history.
