Hey guys, do you know if the 10T can be used as an audio interface on a computer using only USB-A ? (even being in "reduced mode" like I believe the MixPre-6 can do allowing only 2 channels) ? I would really like to purchase the 10T for field and studio needs but I have a 2012 macbook with only USB-A's so I was wondering if I would be able to use the 10T at all on that computer (2 channels only would do as an interface). Thanks for this, very informative. I wonder if it is possible to switch between Headphone mixes on the fly via touchscreen (aka the dedicated "FAV" switch on the 633) Thanks for your help :)

What is the model of the hirose battery is that exactly? Any others you may recommend? I am considering replacing the AA and MXL battery sleds.

That is an IDX NPL7S Battery with an adapter to hirose. You might also consider Inspired Energy batteries which last longer and are less expensive: www.gothamsound.com/product/esmart-battery

How are the preamps timbre compared to the 788t? Why did you use the side button for gain instead of spot? Why no internal SSD? Why no AES output? Is there a hold button so you don’t accidentally prevent accidental touchingV.

You'd have to ask Sound Devices why no SSD / AES Output. No hold button available. We used the side button for gain so we could have the pots available to do a mix.

Nice demo guys! I really love the MixPre 6 but find the design of the MixPre 10T a bit weird. I know they wanted to keep things slim and fit into the same range as the previous models, but the way the channel knobs aren't aligned seems strange and the Hi-rose connector not allowing the device flat to sit just seem a bit sloppy from a design point of view. These maybe minor details that many won't care about, but these were my immediate impressions. Anyone else feel the same?

I think you get arount these flaws quite easily. Especially when using it with a full scale mixer on a cart setup. Nothing´s perfect but this MixPre-10T is quite a bang for the buck.

The encoder is under the headphones connection if you have headphones there is unusable in a bag.

I really doubt that many users are going to be using the 10T on a cart or with an external mixer. That said, I agree that these flaws are fairly insignificant, especially for the price.

Please confirm that the interference on the sample is either from the cable or the microphone. It will be very disappointing if this is from the recorder. TKS.

It was the microphone - turned out to have a slightly loose connector.

You cannot record to a computer via USB live? You cannot have this device be the master tiling code clock to send to a camera? If all my questions are accurate, I see this as a very poorly designed device and very limiting? The 788t preamps were brittle especially compared to Apogee and Nagra VI. How are these in comparison?

You can use this as an interface and record on a computer. It can be the master time code clock to send time code to camera. We haven't tested the MixPre against the Apogee or Nagra VI.
