Yeah it’s basically the heaviest for its frame. These are literally the most powerful engines to be put on a small frame aircraft. That’s why they’re powerful. That was the intention
@@user-ant-pr It's basically the last of it's kind. High-Speed Long-Range interceptor with "long hand"(Long-Range AtoA missiles). The closest US counterpart was F-14. Only few F-14 left in Iran and except thease F-14 and MiG-31s there are no aircrafts of this class in a world. Pretty rare breed novadays.
@@Kirill_Konovalov So, let's see what the interceptor can carry: R-27 - passive homing head - the side is exposed to a retaliatory strike. R-33 - semi-active radar homing head - the side is exposed to a retaliatory strike. R-40T, R-40TD, P60, R-60M, R-73 - thermal homing head with a probability of destruction of 50% - it is easy to escape with maneuvers if the aircraft is controllable, i.e. you can shoot down missiles. As a result, this aircraft can be easily replaced with normal air defense systems. By the way, do you know why this miracle is almost always covered by fighters?
@@user-ant-pr Where did you find info about this armament, seriously? 31 never had used R-27s. XD R-40s are legacy of MiG-25, it was used only at the beginning of it's service, missile is out of service for decades now. R-33 is an Active, not passive. At least in it's current actual service variant. I never heard about covering 31s on their tasks on north for example. But "K" variant is not an interceptor at all. It's a platform for Kinzhal missiles, it lacks all it's AtA capabilities, so no wonder it's covered by something. Especially because there are very few of them in "K" variant.
A sound familiar from childhood. Back in Soviet times, two MiG 31s constantly flew over our house from a military airfield.Their four engines made an “roofquake”!
i've seen a couple of these things (or mig-25, not sure) just zipped across the sky. though they was pretty high (judging by size), they was making quite a rumble down here.
I used to live near Paris in late Concorde time, it made a kind of quake as well when taking of, the kind of sound that you just shut up and wait till it's passed, not even trying to talk over it
At the end of the video, we realised that this is the video you took before the SU-57 came in, because in the last three seconds of the video, we could begin to hear the SU-57 Fighter Jets coming. But still, the roar of the four MIG-31s you found have a fantastic sound. We like it.
im from ukraine and this jet is cool tbh, but man it has like 2 sides of it, the nice one and the second which is they launch that shi on me (not trying to flame up politic argues or smth)
The same is correct for any military vehicles, if they are in use on the opposite side of the frontline. Bf.109s and FW-190s, Tiger/Panther tanks, Bismarck battleship etc.
@@Djjdwg06 yes, they outrun so fast they keep getting shot down. And they can't sustain that speed, only do short duration sprints at those speeds. Regarding the Mig25: "It has an operational top speed of Mach 2.83. Although its thrust was sufficient to reach Mach 3.2+, its speed was limited to prevent engines from overheating at higher air speeds and possibly damaging them beyond repair." Regarding the Mig31: "High-altitude speed is temperature-redlined to Mach 2.83 - the thrust-to-drag ratio is sufficient for speeds in excess of Mach 3, but such speeds pose unacceptable hazards to engine and airframe life in routine use." XF8U-3, YF-12, XB-70, etc. were capable of Mach 3. The XF-107 was meant to go Mach 3 as well. But as you point out, none were operational. The A-12 and SR-71 were operational however, and cruised at Mach 3. The Mig25/31 is extremely overrated, and in an era in which speed is no longer valued as much as it once was, the aircraft is now truly obsolete. There is a reason Mig31 never enter Ukraine airspace and only engage from extreme range. If they got too much closer they could be shot down.
Mig 31 only warplane from that era that is so relevant today. Highest and fastest armed bird in the airspace of theater. The USA spends trillions and all they get is squat.
