Fantastic video as always Grady! Thats a beautiful board. You may have already said this (sorry if I missed), what year did you acquire the Sapphyre? Thanks, always look forward to your videos!
Thanks so much! I love the Sapphyre. It's the centerpiece of my studio. I got it in the summer of 2019 but it took me several months of planning and soldering to get it integrated into my studio. I've been really happy with it. Thanks for watching and I'm so glad you enjoy the videos. Some of them take many hours to make but I really enjoy making them.
Those are really cool! I like the Sapphyre EQ with it's narrower cut and wide boost. It's a great design. I also owned a Ghost for awhile and those have the Ghost preamps which are also really good. The example in the video was actually tracked on the Ghost using mainly it's mic pres. That means the mix should be close to what you can achieve with the Signature.
Im using the SoundCraft LX7II 24 channel....Loving it.....Im using it for Post Mastering ,"Hybrid with Analog Rack Gear, ART and Warm Aduio...with a UAD Interface......" and I use Acustica Audio, and Nebula for Mixing and Access Analog for Pre Mastering Loving it.....the Sapphire and LX7 s have such a Rich, Rounded Punchy Sound....its almost like getting a Neve and an SSL mixed into one...
Awesome! Soundcraft consoles are some of the best. I agree they are British sounding like an SSL or Neve but in between. They seem to have a very large 3D sound and loads of headroom. Plus the EQs are some of the best and what Soundcraft is known for. I like the preamps a lot. Very fast with tons of transient detail without sounding cold.
And I though I was doing more advanced sessions with my berry 3282...! This is a steam-tractor to cadillacs comparison xD Once you turn a channel strip into a subgroup, can you, besides EQing ang gating the sub... send the sub's signal to the aux sends? IDK if you've seen Green Light Audio's video on Andy Wallace's gating techniques, but here's the tip if that's of interest. If I had more gates, (other than those on my dbx and 3630s, neither of which provide much control) I'd definitely explore that. Cheers from Brazil!
Yes, the Aux sends will work on the subgroups like they do on the other channels. It's a really great feature and really helps keep things in phase since there is no latency with an analog console. Thank you for the suggestion. I would love to try more techniques with gates. I recently learned another trick that was used on snare with gates that I hope to make a video about soon. Thank you so much for watching and your great suggestions. Greetings from New Mexico!
Wow that a lot of buttons n sliders n disappointment for me if I was using it lol 😂 will watch some more videos later looks interesting I have a video I made of us in the studio, sounds great on my computer speakers but crap on a iPhone what can I do
I thought I had turned on captions but maybe I missed it on this video. For an iPhone master, ideally you want a bit more midrange and low mids. It's tricky to get mixes sounding good on mobile devices and still sounding good on larger systems. I have been using the Waves Abbey Road Mastering Chain followed by the good old L1 limiter. When I removing low mids, I tend to it at a lower frequency so there's still some kind of low end on mobile devices. Best of luck and I may try to do a video about mastering though I really tend to stick with analog gear. Thank you!
I had some ideas in my other comment but this is also something I need to look into further and make videos about. Thanks so much for the comments. They always help give me some direction.
It's not currently for sale, no. It's been my main console for close to 4 years and I've put a lot of effort into getting it integrated into my studio. If that changes and I decide to sell it, I'll definitely let people know.
@@coffeehigh420 If I replace the Sapphyre, you and the other subscribers will be the first to know. This channel is one of the reasons I started this channel but I do buy and sell other consoles so I can make videos about them. You never know what I might find next. Thanks and take care!
@@TwinCreekAudio hey you take care too, and very glad you started this channel to start this channel by the way! I enjoyed also the lav mic test where you walked in the street to test it. that had to be scary ? I'd be like omg and stuff with that wireless mic walking in the street
