Only misstep was saying frequency is on the vertical domain. Frequency IS the time domain. Amplitude OF frequencies is integral to timbre, which i’m sure you understand and likely meant. Great patch though. Always love your philosophical approach to sonics.

This was a reference/description to two common modes of display: spectral analysis shows frequency on the vertical ax, while waveform displays show amplitude on the vertical. I sometimes think of frequency as a meeting of time and amplitude, and in fact when "analyzing" frequency, the accuracy of measurement for either one of these characteristics inevitably compromises the accuracy of the other, in a way reminiscent of the uncertainty principle in particle physics.
