Bro, Ice Cube was (is) one of the greatest Hip Hop artists of all time. He was one of the founding members of NWA --- he wrote and was the lead rapper in many of NWA's greatest hits. You should check out the 2015 NWA movie, "Straight Outta' Compton". It stars Ice Cube's son, playing his dad, Ice Cube...lol
There is no such thing as a 'great' Hip-Hop artist. In fact the word 'artist' should never be used to describe anyone involved in Rap or Hip-Hop. The two worst genres in the history of music. Not even music as such.
"Footsteps In The Dark"... such a great song. Worth its own reaction. Actually, the Isley Brothers had so many great songs that rappers sampled later on, they have lots of stuff that deserves attention
Well it's a lot more evolved now. This song is almost 30 years old. Yikes! Anyway it's cleaner more working class educated people. Less Welfare, and more youth centers. My first point is Compton is not the war zone it once was in the 80s. Second, Ice Cube was the only NWA member from South Central. 🇺🇸❤️😃
@@buffysummers5080 It applies to people all over this country, Compton or not. The idea that the cops roll past without messing with you because you're black... that's everywhere. Very relevant to too many people.
"I didnt know Ice Cube could rhyme like this?' OMG Man yalls generation is something else. Cube is in or should be in everyone's top 5,,top 10 at the least. WOW!
"Telling a story". Bro you hit it right on the head. Rap in the 80's and 90's was all about painting pictures in your mind and telling a story. I don't even know what today's rap is about. Mostly bullshit I'm sure.
ice Cube is one of the best storytellers in hip hop. check out his albums, they are great. his second album is the best, in my opinion. it's called Death Certificate.
Ice Cube is the one that wrote pretty much everything for NWA. Highly recommend a song from Snoop Dogg called ladi dadi, maybe its wrong spelling but you should be able to find it, he lays out his day in the song yet way more entertaining
"Pretty much everything" is a bit of a stretch... he wrote his and Easy E's raps and some of Dr Dre's, but MC Ren wrote his own and The D.O.C. wrote most of Dre's.
you young people seem to know way too little about the golden era of hip-hop. Ice Cube is still a rapper, and still one of the best as he has been since he started in the eighties with NWA together with Dr. Dre whom you also presented a video with the other day.
It's crazy that you didn't know Cube was nice like this and thought Dre was just about the headphones. You're talking about legends in the game. I'm happy to see you spreading your wings on here. There's a lot of good music out here.
🕶️"Gangsta Rap" was practically outlawed cause youngins "could" become VIOLENT 🔫 Might do a "187" 🕶️ Sh*t the Rap being made today ya can't even understand a word of it 😂 You found the "REAL" sh*t Jay👊

Ladies and Gentlemen, The ONLY day where: Yo MTV Raps was on air, It was a clear and smogless day, Beepers were commercially sold, The Lakers beat the SuperSonics, and Ice Cube had no events to attend was… JANUARY 20, 1992 'National Good Day Day' 😂😂😂
Warren G "Regulate" with the one & only Nate Dogg. 1994 He sampled the riff from Michael McDonald's famous song. I'll let you discover it. Ended up paying him 50%. GREAT SONG!! It gets stuck in your head. Keep hitting the originals. You are really soaking up the greats & appreciating where it all began. I mentioned Ice Cube yesterday. He basically started Gangsta rap with Dr. DRE & Eazy E in NWA. Glad you are covering him. Part 2 next. He spits real life in Compton.
Cube has to be at least one of the top ten rappers in my opinion, loved this song, check out I push rhythms like weight and Dr. Frankenstein..also check out his greatest hits ...alot good songs...also checkout wutang I don't know triumph is a good song...nas NY STATE of mind
The difference between this generation and the last one is they used to brag and acknowledge the music they was sampling, now people are surprised that music now is sampled and gives no props to what they're sampling from.we also used to listen to music older than us. Now if it's more than 5 years old they don't know anything about it.
My comment is the same as yesterday. Check out the movie "Straight Out of Compton" to get the history. Dr Dre, Ice Cube Easy E ....NWA. It will bring context. This is post NWA.
Ice Cube is a stud of that era. Other great songs of his to check out: You Can Do It (Put Your Back Into it), Bop Gun, Friday, Bow Down (as part of Westside Connection), We Be Clubbin', Check Yo Self, etc.... can't go wrong with any of those plus some others. Glad you're getting to experience him. Cube, Snoop, Dre, etc took this genre to a different level back in the day.
Yessssss thanks!! Woot woot!! Check YoSelf is my other fave of his. My favorite storyteller is 2Pac. He was a true artist. Look up his background and check him out sometime. 👌🏼
Who the heck disliked this video? This song is a legend and so is Ice Cube. I would love to watch you react to Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Snoop, and Eazy E. They are all legends too.
Ice Cube was the songwriter in NWA and is still one of the best songwriters ever. You should react to Ice Cube - No Vaseline. That shows, why you should never beef with your ex songwriter. He completely demolished NWA. If you are interested in the upcoming of NWA (Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy E, Yella and MC Ren) you should watch the movie Straight Outta Compton, it's genius.
Ice Cube still releases music to this day. No 'back in the day' about it. lol. Super strange hearing people say they know him for his acting first, but totally understandable.
Correction, Ice Cube is a rapper who just happens to be in Movies and makes movies. He is multi talented. His last album was out at the end of 2018. He is one of the founders of N.WA. The group that started reality/Gangsta rap.
This version samples "footsteps in the dark" by the Isley brothers. The remix samples "let's do it again" by the staple singers. Part two to this video is "check yourself "
