@@mrsupremegascon irrelevant apartheid led to the country's social, political, and financial situation. The only way out is more access to these fields for the majority of the population who have been excluded for centuries. This will breed corruption, as sociologists have found throughout the world, with countries with high levels of wealth disparity. South Africa has one of the worst in the world, if not the worst. This is the fault of the leaders from centuries prior who decided rational thought was an option best not taken and decided to exclude most people in the country from education, professions not in cheap labor, and access to vital institutions. Corruption has always been bad in South Africa from the colonial days you people just don't care because you worship white people or something, but apartheid is literally state corruption on a systemic scale, and it went on for centuries basically; if anything, I'm shocked South Africa isn't worst off from it.

Wanting to kick out the people who literally trapped you in apartheid for decades (and profited from it) is not racism. It's common sense. Good for them. The people in those positions of power were not innocent civilians, they were the institution that had enforced the apartheid for so long despite international censure. And all new countries have problems with corruption in the beginning. If you've never held an administrative position before as a community, it takes a few decades to get the hang of it. Apartheid only ended in the 90s, so they've plenty of time to get there.

Corruption is just normal uncivilized human behavior. We don't need a word for Corruption, we need a word for noncorruption because that's the special thing to be. In developed countries, we just forced everybody to transform into uncorrupt, and now we think it's normal, and we expect everyone in other countries to just be uncorrupt naturally without thinking about how to transform them into that very specific state.

They could have been fired before a long term plan could be implemented, or cut short by the replacements. Being able to connect so many people is a good sign of competence. The government being so young would unlikely have strong institutions to resist corruption or ideologues. Once it became the entrenched it is very hard to undo as you need someone who dgaf to clean house. The video doesn't have enough information to assign any ultimate judgement. Either way, the results are clear.

Oh looks like the pattern is consistent. In the early 20th century, Japan succeeded, China failed. China still has the same electrification problem, with blackouts due to growing demand and ineffectual administrative handling of state business. Both factors have become predictable and therefore preventable problems.
@oliverd.shields2708
@oliverd.shields2708 Год назад
@Apsoy Pike There’s a systemic problem called the provincial economic plan. Wendover Productions made a surprisingly good video about electrification in China here on RU-vid. The provinces want to keep their energy industry within, while it would be cheaper to use interprovincial energy sources.

This video makes you think the power is off for an hour or two only, but in reality, it's 2, 4, 6, and even 8hrs at a time, depending on wgat stafe of 'loadshedding' Eskom enforces on us. They knew the infrastructure needed maintenance and expansion, but yhe funds for this dissappeared into executives pockets in the form of bonuses or outright theft. So nothing was done to rectify the problem which has since become a disaster. When loadshedding first started over 10 years ago, I would call Joburg City Power to report the outage in my area. City Power would say it was an accident of some sort, and technicians were busy with the problem, but as time went by I realized tgat 'accidents' DON'T happen on dot of 2pm, or 2:30pm, and last exactly 2 hours, everytime! The odds of a breakdown on the hour mark and the resumption on the hour mark are impossible! After a few years of this bullshit, they came clean, without apologizing, and initiated structured loadshedding. This is the lying, inept mentality of those in power. Pun intended.

You are not telling the truth. Even during Apartheid more blacks in South Africa had access to electricity than the rest of Africa combined. Eskom has NEVER discriminated against customers based on skin colour but on the colour of your money! The anc made electricity a political football. Eskom has always been profit driven. Supplying ANY paying customer.
