Hello! Thanks so much for watching this video and taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it. We share a new travel video each Friday. Hope you have a great week ahead! Phoebe x
Cape Town is a beautiful city. It looks stately and feels like you are in England for its remarkable British design with a Dutch twist. The sea, the table mountain, its climate, architecture, modernity, its cultural diversity (Afrikaners, British descendants, Coloureds and Xhosa) and gastronomy make it a beautiful southern city. I recommend visiting Vredehoek and Constantia. In Betty's Bay you can see penguins and in Hermanus you can enjoy Southern right whale watching.
Hello! We had an amazing time in Cape Town! Thanks so much for watching, have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend. Our new video comes out this evening! Phoebe x
Laura-Lee Gillion lol, you obviously don’t live in any African country and if you do I’ll be very surprised. The level of corruption of our government cannot be compared. And the problems that developed Western nations experience cannot be compared to our issues either. But other than that, you are absolutely correct!
Laura-Lee Gillion I don’t even know where to start -_- Is your goverment trying to “capture” key national industries such the mines, the banks, Eskom (the national energy deliverer) and Transnet (transportation) ? Our government has always had communist and socialists tendencies. I mean they used to be a communist party supported by Russia for crying out loud. Our government has emptied the coffers completely into the hands of the Guptas - friends of the president who aren’t even South African. But i guess you wouldn’t know anything about that. South Africa is the only country in the world where affirmative actions is aimed against the minority of the population. Yet that minority is the only group keeping the country afloat. They pay the majority of the country’s tax!! There are over 100 laws preventing a white man from getting a job and almost zero bursaries to university. The word is - “ineptocracy”. Additionally, they are going to steal land from people who are actually using the farms to support the country’s food supplies and most of the surrounding African countries. Talk about cutting off the hand that feeds you. The aim is to give the land to people who dont have. But the past 25 years has taught us that 90% of “the people” dont want to and cant farm the land. Our goverment is literally stealing money from people who need it and HAVE nothing!!! It’s nothing like a Western nation. We have an unemployment rate of 35% and we are the number 1 (top) country in the world in terms of murder rates. Our government has shown its incompetence for 25 YEARS since the end of Apartheid and still blame everything on the whites. You know nothing Jon Snow - I mean - Laura Lee.
@Laura-Lee Gillion By the way, at least Trump is preventing immigrants from entering the country illegally. You don't know what it's like to have the opposite happen to you. The reason why unemployment is so high here (35%) and why the murder rates are sky-rocketing is because after 1994 - our government stopped patrolling our borders and the black population grew from 18 million to 56 million in 25 years. Millions of foreign Africans have entered the country and caused hatred amongst the local population because of xenophobia. This is because they are prepared to work hard to make a living - and they (the foreigners) are hated and killed because of this. Trump wants to prevent this from happening and yet most liberals refuse to understand this.
Laura-Lee Gillion Thanks for the lengthy reply. I haven’t had enough time to read through everything yet. Just want to make a point with regards to your 3rd argument. Capitalism is not the object of corruption. No offence - but that just sounds stupid. Corruption lies in the hand of the very PEOPLE who run this country. And although communism sounds great, it will never be feasible in a country that faces such large disparities between high and low income earners. And no, communism would definitely not have been good for South Africa. Although the ideology sounds great just like you said 👍🏻 it is completely unrealistic and defeats the whole purpose of free private enterprise, where people are given the opportunity to work harder to achieve more. P.S. - There has not been one successful communist state in this world. Not ever. Anyway, I appreciate the debate. Will read the rest later. Aaaaaand, I also think Jon Snow is badass. (On a side note - don’t believe everything they tell you in Pol Sci. Afterall, its the victors (ANC) who write the history) .
My favorite place on earth. I was there for three weeks in August and I fell in love with the city. I've been travelling for a year and I'm yet to find a place that even comes remotely close to matching how amazing Cape Town was. Walking along Sea Point, having a beer at the V&A Waterfront, hiking Table Mountain, breathing in the fresh Atlantic air down in Cape Point... I really wanted to stay there forever. It's a shame it receives to much negativity due to the crime rate, but you got to remember, most of the crime takes place in Cape Flats. I've never felt safer walking around by myself day or night. And the people are so proud of their city, as they should be.
Thank you so much for sharing all that! I hope other travellers read your comment and feel inspired to visit too. It’s such a special place. Thanks for watching, have a great day 😀🙌🏻 Phoebe x
In South Africa are more to see/enjoy:Many wold parks with the big 5 running,Mpumalanga's waterfalls and scenery,Sun City,Drakensberg areas and Clarence,Knysna/Stormsriver in East Cape,2 much places to mention.
South Africa is the most beautiful country in Africa. Guys, come and see the Africa you will never see on Tv. Very modern. Beautiful cities, people, food, etc. If you are overseas, and you want to visit Africa, try South Africa first. Very civilized....I love my country.
I do agree with you buddy wholeheartedly by adding to your wonderful comment that Cape Town is arguably one of the Worlds Most Beautiful City ... and that is not exaggerated statement .... I love South Africa too ...
Kharifhele Netshilema never heard a black person say this, but as I white person, I've felt the same, that we shouldn't be judging people based on their skin, but instead the intelligence, I feel our country has the ability to explode, but we have idiots of all colors and religions messing everything up for the hardworking and loving South African. Thanks for your comment
Hello! We had an amazing time in Cape Town! Thanks so much for watching, have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend. Our new video comes out this evening! Phoebe x
I’ve lived in Cape Town almost my whole life. I must say as I grew up I just thought that Cape Town was "normal". Took moving away a few years to realize that our city is far from normal.
hahaha no worries! We had an amazing time in Cape Town! Thanks so much for watching, have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend. Our new video comes out this evening! Phoebe x

I feel inlove with Cape Town. It's my first time to travel alone to spent my birthday and it's totally safe. I dont even have a guide with me for 5 days.. And i kept endorsing this city to my friends, that they should experience Cape Town themselves.
As a born and raised UK Londoner.... Cape Town, the Vineyards in that region, and the Garden route are still one of my fondest destinations in the world to date...love to all the brothers and sisters in that part of the world ✊🏽💪🏽🙏🏽
there are not many cosmopolitan cities around the world like Cape Town entangling such amazing variety of cultures and traditions . Combine this with one of the worlds most spectacular coastal landscapes and you can get an idea how special this place is indeed ... Gorgeous video folks , but unfortunately quite short ! I hope you will come back for more soon ...
not actually it happens elsewhere in the world as well, South Africans just think their problems are unique, that is the only thing unique about South Africa
Always enjoy watching these videos as someone who actually Lives in Cape Town. Living in a country makes your numb/immune to its beauty overtime, and seeing these videos through a tourists eyes, really makes you appreciate a lot of the things you often ignore/take for granted. Even if living in Cape Town is hella expensive for locals :P

This video made me cry. I'm born and bred in Cape Town. Lived there 36 years and now living in Pretoria ( about 4 hours from Kruger Park) We roadtripping down to CT in Feb for my 40th and to introduce our daughter to our friends there. Your video is absolutely beautiful. Wish you could have gone up Table Mountain....its beyond spectacular.
Hey from RSA, just want to say thank you for traveling as one of the people and for shareing found awereness of our country's growth and beauty. This is one of the first videos that puts my home on a international platform in a good light. I'm a Graphic Design student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, which I saw you went past in the beginning of the video. So exciting to see my everyday world enjoyed and showed off. Loved watching this video. I lived in Cape Town all my life. Have been living in USA the last 2 years and miss my South African culture so much the people the food everything. Thanks for the beautiful video of my country.
Next time you visit please take a trip to the Garden Route. Its not called Eden for nothing and if you thought Cape Town was beautiful wait till you see the Garden Route.
@@travelforphoebe Thank you. I love traveling and enjoy your videos. Please have a look at the Garden Route, the area is very diverse with sea and mountains.
The Cape Wineroute is another good stop if you're feeling for some good wine and beautiful scenery. Definitely make a stop by Stellenbosch. The West Coast is another good place to visit.
Garden Route is the most beautiful and laid back place in South Africa. Honestly on of the great gems of this country. And safe. Waterfalls and jungles, animals and ocean. So special. So so special.
Oh wow - thank you so so much!! We really appreciate it 😍🙌🏻 our new video tonight is from our trip to the Aussie Outback! Hope you like it too ✨ have a great end to the week and thanks for watching. Phoebe x
Its funny, because for us that live here in CT, this is the norm. I think a lot of us underestimate how amazing Cape Town actually is. Watching them drive the roads we experience on a daily and the roads home is so interesting to watch from a tourist view.

When Australians says it's good coffee, it's good coffee. Researching flights as we speak. Pretty decent prices that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. December seems like a pretty good month to go also.
hahaha that's true, we're very fussy when it comes to coffee - we're spoilt with so many good cafes here! Hope you have an amazing time in Cape Town, I hope we get to visit again soon cos I'd love to stay longer than two nights :) Thanks for watching, have a great week ahead - Phoebe x
there are some shops that sell better coffee than Truth Coffee, the guide was wrong, they don't make the best coffee in the world, the shop itself has been voted the best coffee shop in the world, but not the coffee
Thank you for your great review of our beloved city! Please come back again but in Summer! There are so many amazing places to visit and we love sharing our history and unique culture; also- there are LOTSSS of beautiful wine farms that you couldn't have seen...I think you'll need a week just for them! Safe travels and thanks again for this positive post😊😚
Great video! I've traveled to Cape Town (and going back next week). My husband is South African, so definitely helps to have a South African guide show you around as some areas can be very dangerous. Such a gorgeous country and city though. Thanks for sharing!
I love it when people make video's like this about South Africa, Cape Town. I was going to leave Cape Town and start life in Canada but I could not do it. It is the best place ever.

Never take the cable car up table mountain (or never more than once for the experience) but the lines are super long. I Have hiked around the side , rock-climed up to the top , hung out ontop and come back down before some people have gotten on the cable car. Its very easy to hire a rock-climbing guide to take you on an easy-beginner friendly route to the top. This way , you get an amazing life experience out of the way up , there's really nothing like it. And you get to say you've climbed up table mountain. Some of the best rock-climbing routes of it's grade are on table mountain like "Jacob's ladder" you can do it and you'll be sorry you didn't.
As a proud Cape Town resident, I would just like to also recommend making use of the Red Bus system if you can't organize a guide. It is a bus service starting in the Waterfront (one of the buses are visible at 1:42), touring throughout the Cape area with stops every so often. You buy a day or weekend pass and you can use it to get on and off any bus at any of the stops throughout that time. The buses also have an excellent multi-language commentary system that provides interesting information all along the routes. ps. glad you guys liked Cape Town so much!
Little Grey Box thanks Phoebe I'm happy that you didn't just focus on the negatives of our beautiful city but rather on the positives. Happy you enjoyed bye❤️❤️
I am a South African and I explored Cape Town a bit while I was at UCT for my honours degree this year. Other great places to visit are Cape Point (where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean) Kirstenbosch gardens, Century City. Another cool thing to do is a long drive on the coast (along the Atlantic ocean) from Cape point passing Noordhoek, Kommetje, Hout, Camps Bay, Clifton and finally get to Cape Town. The mountain drive between Hout bay and Camps Bay has an amazing view.
Went yesterday stood watching the boats the seals had lunch looking at Table Mountain what an amazing beautiful place I just never get tired of the city I was born and bred and the friendliest people# proudlysouthafrican
Born and raised in CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA the MOTHER CITY is Majestically BEAUTIFUL birth is Kalk Bay stunningly beautiful nature at its BEST the view is magnificent
With a huge helping hand from nature, and Capetonians cutting their water consumption by nearly 50%, we averted day zero (no water) and we've also become the most water efficient city in the world.
It's amazing we so used to seeing our city that it's not as beautiful to us but her reaction and the enthusiasm she had being here is just amazing. Awoken love. Love cape Town, love South Africa 🇿🇦😍

Glad you enjoyed Cape Town and that you realize that its not what propagandist would have you believe. You should stop over in Joburg next time you're out. Lots of great things to do there as well especially around Sandton.
@Akmal Ahmad Other than Helen Zille for a short spell there hasn't been a white mayor for decades. But yes, economically there is a vastly disproportionate presence.
What propaganda? Also for the men of stats in the comments 49% coloured and 16% white both those race groups went down between 2001 and 2011. I think the key is the ANC doesn't have majority rule not because of the whites but because the coloured community doesn't fall for political propaganda. But hey this is not a political video.
YAY 🙆 Cape Town FTW!!! Thanks for the amazing video of our beautiful city! You can't visit and not fall inlove with the people, the food, the diversity! We live here and we fall in love every day with the beauty that we are blessed with! I hope you come back soon to experience all we have to offer! 😘

I live in Cape Town and we are definitely through the worst, still have water restrictions, but the fear of our taps running dry have mostly been averted. ps, great video to showcase out amazing City.

Sad you had such bad weather but PLEASE do come back! Such a wonderful city, also you can actually sit between the penguins on one part of the beach at boulders :D The parks board is there to check you don't do anything naughty but it is cool.
You can actually swim with penguins at Boulders Beach. My kids fav place to go. There was one penguin that loved my girl, and kept following her around. (she, my daughter, didn't like the attention... 🤣)
Awesome video Phoebe and Matt! I had very good Aussie friends from Brisbane come and visit Cape Town (same weather) a few years ago with me as tour guide and we did almost everything you guys did touring around Cape Town, brings back many personal memories. Thanks for showcasing Cape Town and South Africa, so many more things to explore. Looking forward to visiting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne again on my travels, Subscribed!

You should have shared the details of your tour guide obviously with his consent. The key to a safe travel in South Africa is a proper guide. Taking you to safer areas and knowing how to react to situations make a big deference. I would rather be honest than lie to people just to get more numbers at the door. Tourist hot spots and hiking trails have been targeted in the past. Please be careful if you travel with children as well. Cape Town is great place and the locals but be aware of the scamers. Sure the guide in this video would agree.
Hello! A few have asked, I'll find the tour company's details and pin them in a comment. Thanks so much for watching, have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend. Our new video comes out this evening! Phoebe x
I went to Capetown back in May/June (I spent about 3 weeks in South Africa because I volunteered at an environmental project) and it was amazing. I loved recognizing some places in this video!

Me too! They’re amazing! And there’s a really interesting story behind them too, if you’re interested. Do some e-reading about Bo Kaap if you’ve got the time 😀🙌🏻 thanks so much for watching. Have a great weekend. Phoebe x
Unfortunately, the heritage of the Bo Kaap area which gives it its spark is under threat. Gentrification and the influx of high rise apartments are forcing locals out of the area. The winsome Bo kaap is inextricably connected to its local residents and without them, the face of Bo kaap negatively changes.

We’re doing a live video from Japan this Friday 25th January 8pm AEST! We’ll be trying food, talking about our Japan trip and answering questions. Hope you can join us 😍🙌🏻 Phoebe x
Almost all South Africans have this deep knowledge of their history. The current, living generations have all seen blood shed over their land and will never forget it. We are our own obsession.
Warren is a really good guide! I live in Cape Town and it seems like he gave you a realistic description of the ways of life in the various areas you visited.
Hello! Warren was really fantastic, his knowledge was incredible. We had an amazing time in Cape Town! Thanks so much for watching, have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend. Our new video comes out this evening! Phoebe x
