First, no one asked for my vote, but Kentucky never seems to make the list. Kentucky has beautiful National Parks, lakes and an awesome cave systems. Beautiful nature scenes and awesome southern hospitality!

I'm in Kansas. We deserve it :). I mean, the Flint Hills are cool. And the cliffs around Lawrence are alright... I guess. And if you ever wanted to try to coast 400+ miles from Western Kansas ("Mount" Sunflower is at 4,039 feet above sea level) to Eastern Kansas (lowest point in KCK is 782 feet above sea level) down I-70, there's that, but other than that, this is flat farmland. Lots of Corn, Soybean, and Wheat farms. It's crazy smokey in the spring when the farmers burn off their fields and it's kind of pretty in the fall when all the crops are ready to be pulled in, but... really... it's just flatland.

I lived my first 22 years in North Dakota where the most beautiful sight is a field of wheat. My opinion is that entire stretch of Great Plains from the Canadian border to Corpus Cristi in Texas is the least beautiful part of the nation with the exception of the Black Hills in South Dakota. However, I do appreciate the farmers and ranchers that work so hard to provide us with the grains and meats we all rely on. There is beauty in a herd of Black Angus cattle and in corn stalks swaying in the wind.

I am from North Dakota where we supposedly have the Turtle Mountains. They are bumps in the ground compared to real mountains. The Great Plains are only "beautiful" when the crops are in full bloom unless you really like flat, treeless land. However, we flatlanders do enjoy the most spectacular sunsets because of the great expanse of the sky visible over our flat homes. Most people do not realize the size of the Great Plains unless they have driven across either north to south or east to west. They start in Canada and spread all the way through most of Texas to Mexico and reach into Colorado.

Colorado has a huge amount of Mountain hiking trails with views that will take your breath away. The other thing that no one seems to mention is a spectacular drive along The Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway. It is the highest paved road in North America. The road snakes and climbs through 9,000 feet of elevation gain, from the high plains of Denver through five climate zones to the 14,264-foot summit of Mount Blue Sky, one of 54 peaks in Colorado that soar to 14,000 feet and above - the famous “fourteeners.” Colorado is also the highest state and the state with the most mountain peaks that reach 14,000 feet and above. Leadville, Colorado, is the highest-elevation city at 10,158 feet in the United States. This area has a trail, called the Leadville Trail that runs through some of the most extreme mountain passes in the Rockies. This trail tops out at 12,620 feet and is known as Hope Pass. Colorado is also home to the highest bridge in the United States it is suspended 956 feet over the Arkansas River and is called The Royal Gorge Bridge. These are but a few things to see in Colorado, the state is majestic, Katharine Lee Bates inspiration for writing "America the Beautiful," the poem that would later become one of the nation’s best-loved patriotic songs, was during a trip to Colorado's Pike’s Peak in 1893. Watch other videos that feature some of the beauty of Colorado, Briggs' videos don't seem to do Colorado justice.

I've lived in Portland for 40 years. Oregon is amazing. So much to see and do. Portland is at the mouth of the Columbia Gorge. I'm so spoiled. I've spent many many days hiking gorge trails. I've climbed Mt St Helens and looked down into the smoking crater. I've kayaked many areas in the state. No end to the lovelies here. We even have a huge forested city park on the west side of Portland that I think is the largest city park in the country. It has miles of trails. It is called Forest Park and you can get a map of all the trails.

Yellowstone National Park is the United States first National Park. It has Grand Prismatic Spring and Old Faithful geyser plus hundreds of other geysers and hot springs and all kinds of wildlife roam free including full herds of Buffalo. It's a big park at 3,472 square miles (8,991 square kilometers) so there's tons of outdoor-related stuff to do. There's basic and upgraded housing within the park you can book and lots and lots of both primitive and upgraded camping sites. The park itself smells like sulfur... everywhere. It is, after all, a volcanic area, as it's sitting on one of the world's largest Supervolcano sites (try videos concerning what happens to the world if Yellowstone blows). You get used to it pretty quickly though and it is beautiful. It's totally worth a visit.

Yes, Yellowstone has geysers (pronounced GUY-zers.) They are essentially what Yellowstone is known for. One such geyser erupts at the same frequency throughout the day and is known as "Old Faithful" for obvious reasons. But Yellowstone has lots of hiking trails that will take you far off the main touristy areas. There's a RU-vid channel somewhere that has a dude and either a friend or family member where they go on these long hikes at these Parks and it's stunning to just how remote these trails get ya. I mean like, you feel like you're really out in the middle of nowhere. But one thing you should know is that our Parks, both National and State, are pretty well maintained including these trails. The trails may vary from modestly paved or outlined with barrier objects and clean, to somewhat narrow foot paths, but they are fairly obvious when you're on them. Some more Rocky trails in the deserty areas might get a little ambiguous at times, but it's not that hard to figure out where they're supposed to be. Like the trails at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and other canyon regions can get a little confusing, but again, it's not that difficult to ascertain where they're supposed to be by the worn foot traffic in those spots. Know what I mean? That said, as an American myself, from deep, dark Southern Illinois, and whose done his share of travels when I was growing up with the parents, I can attest to the fact as to why most Americans don't have passports. Our country is blessed with so much topographical and biodome diversity that there's very little reason to leave the country. The lower 48 US is about the size of continental Europe, so it's like having all that land under one country with literally every kind of biodome on the planet, if you include Alaska for Arctic Tundra and Hawaii for tropical rain forests. The Northwest has temperate rain forests. But between our 42 mountain ranges, vast plains areas, desert areas, and beautiful coast lines ranging from sandy beaches to Rocky cliffs, there's literally something cool to see for everybody. And what's even neater is that a lot of these little towns in the mountains, they try to mimick European Alpine villages. Don't know if it's because people from those areas settled in those parts in the States or what, but it's kind cool to see Alpline village construction in places like Colorado and other areas like that.

Hawaii really is spectacular. Been there twice and would visit again in a heartbeat. It's just one beautiful scene after another. I've been to the Big Island and to Oahu, and as I understand it, some of the other islands are even more beautiful. I can't grasp that given how beautiful the two islands are that I've visited. It's just hard to believe that it could get better.

10:34 Mt. St. Helen, a super volcano, is at the Heart of Yellowstone National Park and is responsible for various Geysers(Guy-sers), hot springs, and thermal vents. The most notable Geyser in Yellowstone, perhaps the world is 'Old Faithful' and while it is not the largest or tallest Geyser in the park, it is the most reliable, erupting every 44 minutes to 2 hours.

One thing most people don't know about the shorelines of the Great Lakes is that it's rich in Gold. All of that black sand you might see along the shore is the same black sand you get when you pan or sleuth for Gold. There's guys that have their little miniature homemade sleuth box, and they take it to one of these black sand deposits, and just start digging into this sand and start feeding the sleuth and they come up with quite a bit of gold, both in nugget and fine gold form. There's a few RU-vid channels that detail this activity. It's pretty cool actually.

Colorado and Utah share a border so traveling between the two states is easy to do. I suggest starting in Utah with the salt flats and the red rock country with its many national and state parks. Then an easy drive up the mountains going east will take you into the mountains of Colorado. That could easily fill up your two week visit. Or you can drop down into the southern states with a one day drive. Don't underestimate the distance you would have to drive from one beautiful area to another. If that isn't your cup of tea you could start in Yellowstone, drive across Montana's flat land to reach Glacier National Park then drop down into Idaho with it's vast wilderness. From there it's an easy drive into Washington and Oregon. When I say "easy" drive I really mean a few hundred miles and several hours of nonstop driving.

All the states have some beautiful areas but the Western states are easily the most beautiful and diverse. The Pacific Northwest in particular, which includes California, Oregon and Washington, they are all just stunning. I'm from California and it is easily the most diverse in terms of topography and scenery. Utah is probably the most unique. with Arizona second in that category. Colorado is right up there as well. But then you go to Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho and they are also breathtaking. The midwest is flat plains, which includes Kansas and Oklahoma. Lots of agriculture and wide open spaces. If you want Southern hospitality, anywhere from Louisiana to Georgia and the Carolinas will give you that experience. Each region of the US is very unique, it's really difficult to tell people where to go for the best scenery.

You can't run out of water cuz every drop that's ever been here is still here (matter can but be created or destroyed. It just changes firm) it just moves around. Some places go dry but the water is somewhere. . In the ground, on top of mountains... Oceans. Etc.

If you’ve gone hunting or know any hunters you should know that if the bear is close enough to be sprayed with bear spray, it’s already too late. Just keep an eye out for dead animals as you’re trekking. If a bear has killed it or claimed it, keep your distance because you don’t want to encroach on their kill. Black bears are different, you can pretty much scare them off

Hey just subscribed to your channel and quickly going through all the old reactions you have done. Love them!! I'm really proud that you are so interested in the USA and want to visit soon. It's cool that you want to be so diligent in picking exactly where to spend your time when you visit and i think you basically could not go wrong with any of the states on this list. Again it does really depend on the type of scenery you want to enjoy but so many of the western states have such crazy diversity in the different types and in one small area I think it would be ideal to check each out in more detail. There is a really good recent video here on youtube going over the activities and sights you can plan out on some great road trips in the USA. It also features one in Texas which I know you were disappointed wasn't in this video. I really think watching this video next would really help you. It's called "TOP 10 USA road trips to do in 2024" by Kevin Eassa. Hopefully I will get to see you check this out. Keep going strong my friend!!

The Jones Act does NOT say ships can't traverse between 2 American ports and have to go to a foreign port between. It says they have to do that if they have foreign crews. An American flagged ship with an American crew can go between 2 American ports but none of the cruise lines have that because it would be too expensive.

So I'm as American as you get. I've been in a LOT of the states, though not all. Here's my favorite parts and some things to keep in mind. 1) I was born in Utah, lived there until I was about 9, but I lived in an area called the "Wasatch front" (feel free to google Images) which is more north, not on the desert-y or "martian landscape" looking part of the state. it was beautiful there (Wasatch). But if you like the Martian landscape look, the lower part of Utah would definitely worth it. Just make sure you're dressed for weather, which can change drastically between day and night in Utah because it's so dry. it can easily be 32 Celsius in the day and 10 celsius at night. Oh, and if you want to hike in Utah, find the RU-vid video of the guy who stumbled across some cougar babies and Mama stalked him for 6 minutes. ("Cougar stalks hiker for 6 minutes") Scary! But really, mama cougar was just making sure the guy went far away from her babies. If she'd wanted to kill him, he wouldn'tt have seen her coming. The video is educational because the hiker did all the exactly right things, why he lived to tell the tale. 2) Colorado Rocky Mountains are UN-freaking-BELIEVABLE,. It's some of my favorite landscapes. One of my favorite songwriters (who was obsessed with nature/outdoors and loved Colorado so much he took the last name "Denver") wrote a whole song about the Colorado Rockys and how life-changing it is to go there. But depending on the altitude where you normally live, Your body may actually go through physical symptoms related to the extreme altitude of the Rockies. Over-hydrating can help with this. 3) Oregon, yes yes yes definitely worth visiting. It has a LOT of beauty. But Depending on exactly where and what time of year it can be VERY rainy, so keep that in mind. Some people don't like how much it rains on the Oregon coast. And yes, most kids who were (like me) young children in the 80's DEFINITELY played Oregon trail game at school.. a LOT, during designated computer lab times. 4)Alaska I would love to visit. Not been yet. Seems aMAZING (if you can go when the mosquitos aren't too bad.) 5) For me the desert isn't where it's at. Those Utah rock formations are pretty, but prefer cozy costal towns or forrest paths . But that's just preference, I can definitely see why people would want to see the rocks and desert of the southwest, it has its own beauty, . 6. New England is GORGEOUS in the fall with the colors. 7.) The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee have a very special place in my heart. Their like stepping back into a past century..The Forrests.. 8)) My next trip I'd like to either do Upstate New York (the beautiful part nowhere near "the city") in the fall, or out west (I'd LOVE to go to Glacier, or Yellowstone or even Yosemite) But I'm on the East coast and that travel takes time and money. 8) Sorry.. I do love good barbecue, and rodeos can be fun, but to me Texas is highly overrated (don't come for me Texas peeps!) . I'm sure it has some pretty parts, but I definitely don't think of it as a pretty state at ALL, and it's definitely no where even near my top 10 places I'd like to visit next (I have been in Texas before). 9) Not sure exactly what your climate is where you live, so that would affect what you would like personally. Me, I have lived in Virginia about 20 years and it can be beautiful (Shanendoah national park is gorgeous) but I actually DESPISE the climate most of the year. there are a few (way too few) delicious crisp fall days that can be amazing, but like I said, very few... summer keeps trying to come back until December. UGH! and the humidity.. DESPISE. My preference for outdoor activity/nature is 10 celsius to 22 celsius. (yes, maybe I need a sweater or light jacket at 10, but I'd rather that then sweat. HATE THE HEAT. if it weren't for family, I would absolutely move north, maybe even to Canada. LOVE the cool.

If you do go to Maine and are driving, be very mindful of the speed limit, especially on Mount Desert Island, where most of Acadia National Park is. On Mount Desert Island, the speed limits varies depending on if you' re in the woods or in or approaching a village. If the speed limit drops, there's a good chance there's a cop hiding in the woods just past the sign. But they didn't get me.😝

Lived in California most of my life - when I retired we took a number of road trips (and cruise to Hawaii and Alaska) and managed to visit every state mentioned except Maine (with it over 3,000 miles away it is just far to drive). Surprised the Grand Canyon was not on the list but perhaps everyone knows about it. As far as you visit to the US I am sorry to say you will not get to see much in two weeks, perhaps with a little planning you can visit most of the western states but it will be impossible to visit them all.

Ryan, yes, TX is big. However, you also mentioned AK, which is 2.2 times the size of TX. Mr. Briggs is very truthful in his videos, thus what you see here is "the real thing". Just throwing this out for giggles: Montana is the size of Germany. He didn't mention the national park which is 100% in the state: Glacier, which is on the Canadian border, and spills over into an adjacent park called Waterton Lakes. Yellowstone is beautiful, but it's also, because of the beauty, crowded. However, just like with the Disney parks, this can be avoided by arriving at a place that was crowded the day before, thus avoiding the crowds. What you saw at around 10:28 was, indeed, geysers (GUY-zers), whereas, over here, a GEE-zer is an old, grizzly man.😀 Re. MI, if you want to impress your friends, the city of Sault Ste. Marie is French, and is pronounced Sue Saint Marie, which means St. Mary Falls. He mentioned Lewis and Clark, who were 2 explorers sent by the president in 1803 to go and see what was available in the newly-purchased Louisiana Purchase, and thus walked from Independence, MO, to the West Coast over a period of several years. He didn't mention that Crater Lake is a national park. He mispronounced Zion N.P. as ZYE-ahn; it rhymes with 'lion', and was named after Jerusalem's Mt. Zion. The arch at 19:20 is Delicate Arch, and it's huge. Monument Vly. is in the UT portion of AZ's Navajo (NAV-uh-hoe) Res., and is stunning, and 140,000 still speak their language, which is 1 of the world's most difficult to learn, because of nasalizations, 3 tones, and glottal stops. Lastly, I just noticed your picture on another video, that you're from S. Africa. I was there back in 2000, and your country is also a stunning place.

Not from Oklahoma or Kansas, but one time when driving West I passed through Oklahoma. When I entered it was like flipping a switch. The prior state had blue lakes, Oklahoma's were brown. The road was so broken you could have driven for miles with a flat tire and never realize it. And that was just the immediate things, there was more. Also, where is Arizona? I admit I haven't been to every state, Arizona is the most beautiful for me. The Grand Canyon is my favorite national park.

I've lived in Michigan, Florida, California and Colorado, and traveled to most other states. I would say Colorado is the most beautiful, and it has Denver, which is an amazing city. Parts of the coastline of California are great, and their eastern edge starts getting into the mountains, but the interior of the state is not so great and has horrific traffic, the southern part has boring desert type land, the entire middle is flat boring agricultural land. Utah, nah, surprised it was ranked so high. Washington State is beautiful and was surprised it wasn't way up there.

Yellowstone National Park was the first National Park. It really is worth seeing. Montana and Wyoming are two of the least populated states, so they didn't skew the votes. Utah and Colorado are very different. I am from Utah, so I have a bias, but Colorado is beautiful as well. The southern states are also very beautiful, just not the same as the states listed here. You can't miss no matter where you go.

Utah or Colorado Debate....so I'm a bit partial as I'm a Utahn and have not done a lot in Colorado, but they are very similar. Colorado has more tall Mountainous areas, so I would say Colorado would lend it's self to being a more predominant Alpine visit. Utah, especially Northern Utah also has some amazing Alpine areas. Utah's Alpine areas are also a bit more accessible from the population centers as Salt Lake is right next to the Mountains as Denver is a bit of a drive. You can be up in Park City, one of the premier Alpine areas in the world within 30 minutes of the Airport. There are quite a bit more Alpine areas around Utah as well, but intermixed with a lot more topography changes, from the Great Basin, Salt Flats to the Desert Valley's and Canyons. I'd say Utah is a bit more diverse in it's landscape and why I'd say Utah over Colorado. That's not to say that Colorado doesn't have some cool Desert areas, and one of the coolest is Mesa Verde in the high desert of southwestern Colorado where many of the amazing cities and dwellings of the ancient Anasazi (Puebloan People) lived. There are many similar sites all over the 4 corners area, but Mesa Verde is amazing.

I'm from Oklahoma and in my opinion it's more beautiful than Texas, which is 90% desert. About the only thing that I can say is bad about Oklahoma is that the weather is 100% unpredictable. In one day here, it was sunny, cloudy; it rained: it sleeted, it hailed, it snowed and then a Tornado hit.

Fun fact about the arches in Arches National Park. The big most well-known arch is called Delicate Arch. The longest arch in the world that had a huge piece break off is called Landscape Arch. Way back when they were being named the 2 somehow got mixed up. Delicate Arch was supposed to be Landscape Arch. And the delicate Landscape Arch was supposed to be named Delicate Arch. Ohh and to answer your question about which state would be better Utah or Colorado? Utah! Of course! There are the Great green Canyons, part of the Rockies in the North. Then all the Beautiful Red Rock scenery in the southern part. With awesome State Parks scattered all throughout the whole State! The northern Mountains are home to Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons. Great hiking, mountain climbing then World renowned Alta, Snowbird ski resorts. One of Utah's nicknames is "The Greatest Snow on Earth!" We get the lovely Powder that people Love to ski on. ❤

I lived in Hawaii for 10 years and it will always be my favorite state. Not only is it a gorgeous island chain, the people who live there are some of the friendliest you will ever find. That being said, I've lived in 11 different states and every single one had at least a few areas of spectacular beauty (I've never lived in Kansas or Oklahoma). 🙂

"Can this be skewed by the amount of people who live in each state?" - Yes and no. Wyoming, for instance, has a mere half a million people living within its borders. It's the state with the lowest population in the US. Less than even Alaska or smaller states like Vermont. It made the list. Whereas, while I think Maine and Michigan are pretty, I would never put either one in the top 10 of most beautiful US states. But both have large population centers (Chicago and New York City) that vacation in those areas.

Northern Utah is very similar to Colorado with the beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes, old mining towns, world class ski resorts. Southern Utah has the beautiful red rocks, great bike trails, hiking and jeep runs. If you have 2-3 weeks you could easily visit a couple states. Hawaii is beautiful, but Oahu wouldn’t be my choice of island. I prefer the big island for its diversity. Southern California has way too many people for me. Northern California is much prettier in my opinion as long as you avoid San Francisco. Each state has such unique features, except Kansas and Oklahoma. 😉

I you do come too the US try and stay away from the highly populated areas. If you do go to the major cities to experience the US you will be disappointed because the cities are cities just like anywhere else around the world. When you get out in the countryside, that is where the country really shines.

I, personally, think Washington is slightly more beautiful than Oregon and one of the best in the country. It has a freaking temperate rain forest. Mt. Rainier is the most picturesque mountain and huge and comes up from basically SEA LEVEL, unlike the ones that start already a mile up. The San Juan Islands. I notice there is a divide between people who prefer desert scenery and those that like lush greenery.. So yeah, the southwest desert hiking is VERY different than the green mountain hiking.
