I'm a 72 year old male and a proud citizen of the USA and must say that this rendition of the National Anthem is my all time favorite. Whitney seemed to be feeling the deeper meaning of the spirit of this anthem and the crowd was 100% behind her. I appreciate you reacting to our National Anthem. God bless you!

Whitney Houston was a gift that is gone too soon and without doubt this performance of the National Anthem is stunningly beautiful. But whenever I hear the song no matter how it is delivered, the song always moves me. It is custom in America to stand for the anthem with your right hand over your heart and I’ve been doing that all my 63 years. Respect.

My family and I (we were a military family) were assigned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1991 just after Operation Desert Storm. When we arrived in Riyadh, there was still smoke coming down from the oil fields in Kuwait that Saddam Hussein had set ablaze. We didn't know what we would have in Saudi Arabia, nor what we'd be allowed to bring with us, but the one thing we knew we wanted to bring with us was a video of this rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by the late, great Ms. Whitney Houston. To me, it is the best, and I simply can't imagine it ever being surpassed.

THE best! I cry every time. With all the crap my country is going through right now; the shame I feel regarding how we are treating each other; how we are perceived across the globe; and the hesitation and fear for what our future holds, I take comfort going back to this moment and listening to this amazing woman. It serves to remind me of my humanity, my pride, my love, and my respect for this country and the principles on which it was built. We will persevere.

Remember that the other part of the equation that makes this, is the arrangement by John Clayton. His subtle re-harmonizations, plus shifting from 3/4 to 4/4, were genius moves.

I remember watching this live when I was 22 at my Dads house who was an ex-Marine. After the game everyone kept commenting on how it was by far the best part of that Super Bowl as the game was a ridiculous blow out. It was the talk of the town (Las Vegas) for at least a week afterwards it would come up in conversations at the poker room and black Jack tables. People would say about how proud it made them feel to be American. Sadly you don’t hear allot of people saying that nowadays 😢

She song it live, the version heard at home was a prerecording and was done in 1 take which is rare for most artists, but that how Whitney mastered most songs in 1 take. She is the best to EVER do our anthem and his voice paints an actual story of that battle. She is Platinum and whatever is greater than that to the 10th power. Don't try to dimish her talent by stating its a pre recording or lip singed.

if you haven't made a video of all the sporting events immediately after 9/11, there are a few more very special. The very first pro sports event post 9/11 in the New York City area was a N.Y. Mets home game at Shea Stadium/Citi Field. Most MLB players (like your soccer/football players) come from all over to play for different pro teams in a certain city. The Mets were losing the first game after 9/11 when our "home grown" catcher and beloved Captain of the Mets, Mike Piazza, came to the plate . . .and hit a home run to win for The Mets ("USA").He was not a homerun hitter. We all say he had "a little help" from some angels that night. Watch and post the pre game with all the NYC firefighters and Police. #2; The New England Patriots (Tom Brady) and New York Giants are rabid enemies. However, two of the players for the Giants are from Boston. Watch the Pre game ceremony in Foxborough Stadium ( home of New England Patriots) right after 9/11. That day, we were all Giants fans.

Makes my eyes water every time. If you’re interested in other country’s anthems, the Kazakhstan national anthem sung by Dimash Qudaibergen at a boxing final in Las Vegas set Twitter on fire. It had me feeling like I could run thru a brick wall or march off to war - and I’m a 62 year old very American woman. Granted she had a beautiful voice & sang the anthem as no other, but . . . It is well known that this was pre-recorded and she lip synced instead of performing it live. Her producer or whoever made the decision for her to do it this way. It was not her decision to do so. But, nonetheless it was pre-recorded. It's too bad it was done that way because we all know she would have been great if she had sung it live.
@Darkaddict20

Who cares. It still her voice regardless. As of 1993 it required to be pre recorded for NFL games. To prevent embarrassing things from happening.

Whitney was actually singing. Anybody watching can see Whitney was singing to the recording. Just like the orchestra was playing. It's just their microphones weren't turned on. People on the field even came out and said how they heard Whitney singing due to the controversy around the prerecorded vocals and the single being released.

But it was pre-recorded, and she lip synced. Her voice is incredible, but it wasn't "live". Most of them do that, incase something messes up electronically. Chris Stapleton sang live, but most don't.
