I was on holiday on the Italian Riviera in 1970 and a local radio station, Radio Relax, played the slow part of this marvellous piece very often, long before I knew what it was and that it was written by my favourite composer whom I had the joy of meeting ten years later. Every time I hear it, I can feel the warmth of the Mediterranean sun!
Love his music....I remember when I was in high school my best friend (Debbie Cash) and. Used to sing/harmonize to this and Not Going Home Anymore..she was the better singer, but I wasn't bad...brings back old memories... Thank you Burt Bacharach. Lori Avers.
Dear folks, this is NOT the original - at least not the original vocals. I was lead soprano/ solo singer, John Bahler was the other solo male singer, the other singers on teh ORIGINAL with Burt conducting on the scoring stage were Jackie Ward, Sue Allen, Bob Tebow, and Ron Hicklin. This is no where as subtle, as smooth, as properly performed though I applaud them for their efforts. HOW can someone do this, substitute something for the original!!
Was this ever filmed while being recorded? This song brings back memories of my childhood in the early 70s. My parents had the soundtrack on vinyl and I would play it over and over.....dang....I still do
@@SAMSQUANCH6059 As best I can remember it wasn't filmed. We did the vocals as an overdub to the instrumental track, and it was just Burt and the engineer and we singers, as I recall. He rehearsed us at the piano and then we recorded. I would guess that the director might have been there too, most likely in the control booth, but I honestly don't remember meeting him. Ron Hicklin was the vocal contractor, and in those days I just mostly showed up, sang whatever they put in front of me, and wasn't very agressively outgoing or interactive with the folks I was working for/ with.
Thanks for your rapid response! I will keep your message forever! I feel starstruck! You sang me to sleep alot of Sunday afternoons when my mom made me and my brothers take a nap! Thank you so much!
I have looked for the choral arrangement of this for years, to no avail. I had to listen it today since BB just passed away. I'll listen to the original too.
The Harmonies are exaptational to this track ,,,,,,,,,,,Do not miss my third Spotlight On with Burt Bacharach In 10 years Including exclusive Interviews with Bach Bacharach this Is one of my faves
Always loved this ,I was never able to find out who sang this part of the movie as I said just loved it and of course the movie Catherine Ross married another of my favourite actors Sam Elliott 😀❤
its sounds like onda nueva rithm from Aldemaro Romero Venezuela, in fact the tempo of this song is similar to onda nueva songs, I usually say that aldemaro romero is venezuelan's Burt bacharach
This is freakin unbelievable always loved it!!!!!...Nice movie too cept for the very end don’t really watch that part ha!!!...plus Catherine Ross!!!!...🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐘🦏🦍🐼🐬🐅🦖
Lamentablemente para los tiempos actuales se abrieron las alcantarillas del infierno en cuanto a moda, gustos, música, arte y todo lo demás. Estamos a merced de las fuerzas de la oscuridad ....!
