South Carolina's Best Rural Towns.

Want to buy a home in South Carolina?
Today, I am going to tell you about some great rural towns in South Carolina. If you haven’t watched videos in this series before, let me explain. More and more people are leaving the cities and suburbs for retirement or because they are remote workers. These people are looking for rural small towns. They want low crime, internet, affordable housing, and access to health care. So, we have researched states looking for that sweet spot that fits those requirements. Not all states have many rural towns that are in that sweet spot. South Carolina is one of them. Crime is what kicked a lot of rural communities to the curb in the Palmetto State. I don’t know what the deal is in this state. The crime rates are through the roof in most rural towns. They have the same problems most states have like drugs and poverty. They just seem to have a bunch of idiots doing stupid stuff in these small rural towns. 90% of the people in these towns are wonderful people just trying to live their lives. Then you have that 10% that are really getting after it, real go-getters when it comes to stupidity.
And that is why we only found 5 rural towns in SC. One of them probably shouldn’t be included because it's a little too big. Let us know in the comment section if you think we missed one or which was your favorite.

Live in Columbia all my life. Hot hot and hot summers (humidity), but I am used to it. The ideas and speed of Columbia is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Very slow to catch on compared to the neighboring city of Charlotte NC. Always behind because no one wants to change overall. Now to add to the Charleston comment, it is a beautiful city BUT it is expensive to live there!!!! Charleston and Myrtle Beach have the highest taxes in the state. Greenville has the lowest! Can you believe that?? I plan to move to Greenville as we have had earthquakes (4 or more) in the past week! Yes Columbia SC has had a total of 32 since last year. I cannot believe this.

I visited South Carolina for the first time a week ago, stayed in Charleston for a week and absolutely loved it there. I also went to Sullivan Island and Folly Beach, it was my first time visiting an east coast beach. I fell in love with those beaches, not only are they stunningly beautiful but the ocean is warm. We spent a couple hours on the beach in Sullivan Island and people just seemed happy, it was great to see. People in general were really nice and friendly everywhere we went. Being from Northern CA, you don't get that too often. Or happy people. I would love to see more of the state someday.

I live in Anderson which is in the Upstate, not too far from Walhalla. I was born and raised in Anderson and I'm 53 years old. All of the towns and cities in the Upstate are fantastic places to live. The Blue Ridge Mountains are no more than an hour away, the people are friendly, the scenery is nice, and the climate is generally quite good. As for crime, I know that some towns may have higher than average ratings. But to be honest, most of those crimes are committed by people on their own acquaintances. In other words, if you hang out with criminals, don't be surprised when you are robbed! I personally have never had a single issue.

I grew up in a small town in SC. The high crime rates he mentioned at the beginning don’t tell the whole story. Crime and safety are not the same in SC. You have to consider WHO commits it to whom. Take mur*der for example. SC criminals typically don’t kill outsiders, only people they know, usually their family members. The same crime rate in a New Jersey town would spell danger indeed. The same principle holds true with theft. They won’t pick-pocket random strangers who might have conceal carry permits; they’ll break into their aunt’s house for drug money.
@kylewest100

Never thought I’d be thanking the criminals. Hope they keep messing with each other and rack up them statistics to keep these outsiders away.

As someone interested in possible relocation in the next few years (once the crazy housing market calms down), I think small towns are a bit too small. I don't want to be out in the sticks - but I wouldn't mind being able to see them. I'm thinking on the edge of major metros or medium-sized towns/small cities within an hour of a major metro - ideally in a low-tax burdened state/location with a nice climate. I'm currently in the Hunter's Creek area of Orlando, FL - I love the weather for the most part, but would not mind being a bit further out as long as I could have solid, high speed internet (remote worker). Some areas I've been considering in the area include Clermont, Davenport, Haines City, and Lakeland. Just tired of the postage sized lots - need something I can let my dog run around in and still have room for a pool.

The homes are beautiful for the most part. And all the available land is more than perfect for all my fur babies. And so many great places to do some toy photography. My only gripe being from Kansas is all of the hills. I'm used to flat lands. But I'll get used to them soon.

So I live in the Coward area. Around here and Pamplico are pretty great areas to move to. On internet the best of the best your gonna get out here, other then in town, is around 100mbps down and around 10-50 up for the best plan. One of the main isps is farmers telephone company and they very rarely drop service, also waaay better then spectrums service (its terrible here). In terms of hospitals, dont go to lakecity for any MAJOR emergencies, just go to mcload or musc. if your looking for a good family doctor, PD family practice in lakecity is pretty good, I went there my whole life.

Some small towns in the south you have better odds going to the fire department and getting them to treat you. Growing up my friend needed stiches and his dad a firefighter just put him on the table and went to sewing him up. We were about an hour from the "good" hospital. The closer one people always said, "I wouldn't take my pet there". Oh the good old days.

The reason everyone thinks that the revolutionary war was fought and won in New England is because nothing else is taught in high school history about that war to students and they don't know that the war was actually mostly fought and Won in the South (Yorktown, Va) consequently they simply believe what they were taught without question and that is a shame. Southern children SHOULD be taught the truth about their own homeland

Lived in SC most of my life Georgetown SC is a charming coastal town. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the waterfront. Also, Anderson SC in the mountains. Charming and Beautiful scenery. We have friends who moved from New England area to SC. They said houses cost over $1 mil there and they got a big lakefront home for $400 k in Florence SC. As far as crime, there have been shootings and drugs in the last few years. But that's everywhere really.

Did they teach how to use that arrogance to read a dictionary?
@nedhill1242

@@MsMoosieify What are you talking about. You’re all over the map in this comment. First he didn’t say you shouldn’t move to South Carolina because of poverty. He said a lot of small towns in South Carolina. Have a lot of poverty. I actually the south does have a lot of poverty because following the Civil War, the United States, government intentionally punished South Carolina and the rest of the south. The depression was especially hard on the south. The south did not start truly recovering from the Civil War until World War II. South Carolina also has a lot of poverty because like all southern states almost 1/3 of the population is minorities. If you go to places like California and New York or Michigan, Wisconsin, New Jersey, any other very blue state when you look at the counties with the most poverty they’re always the counties with the highest percentage of minorities. And I’m not sure why you’re getting so upset about the COM yet because by definition, Anderson Clemson, Greenville Spartanburg, or not in the mountains. That section of South Carolina is actually called the foothills. If you cross into South Carolina on interstate 85 from either Georgia or North Carolina the first exit will take you to South Carolina 11, which is also called the Cherokee’s foothill Trail. That starts getting you into the edge of the mountains in South Carolina. You I always love when people like you respond to comments and feel it’s necessary to insult someone. I’ll put my IQ and my success in life up against you any day. Clemson is in fact a very good university. I have a BS and finance and an MBA. I will absolutely put my IQ education and life success up against you. Because, intelligent educated people don’t need to resort to insults. Unless they graduated from the University of South Carolina. But then they’re still not educated. Clearly you’re triggered, but you might want to stick to the facts because nothing you posted was factual. And my post that you felt you had to attack was in fact completely accurate. Yours. Neither one of them. We’re accurate. Now I suggest you go away and quit because you already behind. More posting on your part will only dig the hole deeper. But since you’re not smart enough to have self-awareness you will probably foolishly comment again.
@nedhill1242
@nedhill1242 Год назад
@@MsMoosieify Again. I didn’t say there was poverty. That’s the video not me. Also, I aware it’s close to table rock. I didn’t say it was not far from the mountains. That’s the definition of foothills. There at the base of mountains. Seriously, you’re not very intelligent and you really need to stop commenting. All you’re doing is making yourself look dumber. And yes, it is beautiful and I love that part of the state. I love all of South Carolina. I’m from the Lowcountry and went to college at Clemson. All of South Carolina is beautiful. But again we do have a lot of poverty like all of the southern states, do because of demographics, and because of what happened following the Civil War. But none of that has anything to do with the stupid comments you’re making. And you clearly have zero ability to read and comprehend because you’re making comments that I did not make. You’re saying I stated things that I did not.

Simpsonville is a nice town. I lived there for 18 years. It really grew in that time. I would even recommend the subdivision we lived in. It is called Neely Farm. If you are raising children, its all about kids. Olympic size swimming pool, big playground, tennis courts, hiking trail, large area for any ball sports. Schools are great, you got every store and restaurant just about. Movie theater,etc. Great 5g internet with Spectrum. Lots of factories for well paying work nearby. We moved when we retired to downsize a little and get outside of the busy scene. It really started booming. In Greenville , the hospital system is great and it spread out with hospitals all around. Lots of family docs. Not sure what the crime rate is there, but we never heard about anything in our neighborhood. Worth checking out if you’re looking to move to SC

Ppl say this 😂 all this time. I do understand it. After covid, my home state had an influx of too many ppl to support, with mental and physical health care, hugely under funded schools. In contrast the housing market jacked up 80--EIGHTY--PERCENT higher than they were and in tandem with that we saw rent hit thr roof--and the landlords turn into commercial folks who are not in state and have no idea what the area is really like--median income is 40 k absolute highest--with rent for a 2 bedroom crap hole being 1800/2 K, minus the exorbitant cost of heat in a cold state. All of this effectively pushed out older and younger ppl who couldn't pay for their homes and apartments. Idiotic taxes in NH, like the "view" tax. If you can see the tip of a skiing peak? Really? What if I'm blind?! Just tax tax tax. But call it beautiful, tax-free NH. Live free or die. Live expensively or die. Homelessness is pretty impossible with 20 below and noreaster weather. Sigh.
