I'm old enough to have seen this trailer in a theater when it played before "Unforgiven". I always remembered it, because usually an urban film of this nature would have rap music in the trailer, but this one had sort of a melancholy score, which set it apart from other urban films at the time. That being said, this was one of the best films of 1992.

I remember seeing this as a 10 year old kid, not truly understanding the magnitude of these images until later. I am a 41 year old father now with children, this movie was a game changer.

thats 90s trailers for you. a lot of trailers (especially those produced for VHS) were quite long back then and had no sense for the preservation of suspense whatsoever. Also, that was before internet culture and the "spoilers" craze.

This movie is so powerful, it influenced me to further pursue my degree in education working with children. It represents the common upbringing of most African-American men in the U.S. Some grew up with the streets raising them and others grew up with the mindset to make it out of the hood safe and alive. It sheds significant light on the harsh reality of a young black man growing up without a father who was incarcerated for homicide. This movie should be played in PWIs in the undergraduate and graduates Department of Education.

Just another reminder of where we still need to go with and for our children. I love this scene and the very last. It comes a time in life that some men and women have to make that change as MJ said. Stop saying this is all I know or this is what I've been doing, or I don't know anything else. Learn! Something got to change. Mentors, and Court Advocates where there are no parents people.

South Central movie is good with Glenn Plummer, Byron Minns, Carl Lumbly. Carl was speaking the truth to Glenn in prison about black men need to be in their sons lives. Glenn son was a criminal while Glenn was in prison. Black men gotta stop killing black people. Glenn and Byron did another movie Trespass with music rappers Ice T, Ice Cube of NWA. Trespass is trash LOL.
