My dad was 5 during the Korean War and lived in a village that was attacked during the war. That is one of his earliest memories. We went to Korea over the summer for the first time in 20 years. Very humbling to watch my dad’s reaction to the war memorial and he sat with my nephews telling them all war stories that I’ve heard my entire life. Glad you were able to enjoy such a wonderful country. Also, hello from Tuscaloosa!!! Roll Tide!!!

The N. Korea village we would watch it hrom our 2 guard post. We would spent 1 month in the guard post, which were bunkers under ground on mountains. Every morning buses would come to the village lights would turn on and workers would come out. No one lived there.

When the US Army had a sector of the DMZ, I spent a total of 2 years stationed at Camp Liberty Bell (DMZ). We were next to the JSA. The closest Infantry company to N. Korea. Our buildings still had bullet holes from when the North csme across. We would patrol the DMZ in the winter. There was no fence just old rusty markers. Every night we could hear the N. Korean propaganda speakers. Our only way out was thru the mine field, if you made it that far

Hi - I’m visiting S Korea for few days and I would like to see the DMZ (hopefully no marathon going on the of:)) and do day trip to Busan I saw from your other video. I’m retired U.S. army but never been station there. Also, my late grandfather was WWII, Korean War before he retired U.S. Air Force in January 1960. I’ll fly into Inchon airport and would like to know the convenient place to stay at. There’s pickup location at Hongik university station that I’m also considering. Btw, I grew up in Hawaii and currently visiting Philippines right now. I’m very familiar with your Airbnb location in Makaha near Waianae. Also, if the letter “W” falls between vowels, it’s pronounced “V” like Eva Beach:). Looks like you and your sister had a great time in Korea. Thanks for sharing!

I think not many young people want reunification because of stuff relating to living expenses, and the change over the many decades of separation. I think many of the older generations do because of family.

The content you gave for the memorial is completely wrong though, it's not for their ancestors or something, it's for people whose family lives in NK and they can't meet anymore, so they have a place to have dinner with them for "Korean Thanksgiving". The stones in the back represent and depict specific cities in NK. It's definitely not to honor the dead or the fallen soldiers though, you must have gotten that completely wrong for some reason. Also the DMZ is South Korea and not "the UN". The citizens living only have UN passports, but it's South Korean territory :)
