Also in smaller towns, like mine in Canada, shops close early as well:)) It is basically only in bigger cities, I think? I could be wrong for American shops, though. I wish we had siesta here! :))

right?! here in Croatia stores usually work 'till 21 (22 if it's summer because of the tourist season)...the only place that I know which works 'till like 2/3 is Mcdonalds

but what if you randomly need to grocery shop at midnight-? 😭

​@@fairyfarms well maybe it's usual in other cultures but personally i've never had to go to the supermarket very late. Like it's not normal for us and there's nothing which absolutely needs to be bought that late. Too bad but no problem we'll go tomorrow. Some places are open open very late but it's not common. Also if you work in a shop which is yours you can decide at what time you are open. But when you're an employee you never work all day every day. Usually you have a day off in the week (and very often the sunday) and sometimes you only work on the morning. Finally family life and personal life is very important in France so when it's late, you just stop working and go back to your life. I only think about two other exceptions : if you work in a gaz station (i don't know the name but the place where you can put gaz in your car and have a coffee, buy some snacks when you're traveling) and also in some regions when it's holidays, some shops stay open because people usually take some walks in the evening for instance at a market and so it's the perfect time to get customers

As another American, I also agree. I work 12 hour days and “grind” it out every day. I wish our culture was different. I almost never really savor or enjoy life.

It also depends where in america and where in europe. Definitely not nyc for a slow pace life. Loved this video though with great intentions!

She’s not from Europe… she’s American of course she won’t get it, and she explained how she sees the lifestyle in the south of France and she embraced slowing down. Not all of European lives the same and not all Americans lives the same.
