In today’s video we bring you along with us to experience the truly magical Sopotnica Waterfall and the stunning Uvac Canyon. The Nature in Serbia never ceases to amaze us and even when the weather is crap it still is one of the most beautiful and natural feeling places we have experienced. Vanlife may be challenging on these dirt roads, but the views make all the sketchy drives worth it.
⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. So after waiting for six months for the borders to reopen in Ireland we have finally hit the road in June 2021 and spent 90 days enjoying vanlife in Spain. Then we spent the next two months enjoying vanlife in Croatia before heading onto Serbia where we currently are 

That waterfall is actually very busy place in the summer, but people are not going much to wild when the weather is bad, so you actually had the exclusive to have it for yourselves because of the weather :)))) But you should see it in the spring, that would blow your mind again :)

@@phillyandkeely J IF I remember well, you like nature... North, if you think on Vojvodina, has a few spots like Frushka Gora, Sremska Mitrovica, Palić Lake, but in essence, it is agricultural area with corn, wheat and sunflower fields stretching to eternity :) I recommend for this time of year mountains, any south of Sava and Danube River line... I am currently on Old Mountain (Stara planina), you would not regret it... From there you can go to Sokobanja and Ozren Mountain, to Rtanj mountain, to the north to Djerdap Gorge on Danube -- wherever you aim, you will not miss :)

Guys, enjoy your time here! I wish you many beautiful moments to remember. I like your style, you are very charming. Keep it going! I bet you would enjoy staying in Serbia a little bit longer. Unfortunately, the weather has been really bad these days. I recommend coming during spring and early autumn.

And there are some water caves where boats stop

@@phillyandkeely The best time in a year to go to Serbia's nature is Spring. Whether can be rainy, but it is already warm all from beginning of May, but not to warm as in summer. The shear impact of Spring, pouring water from all directions and 50.000 shades of green will blow your mind again :)))) And beside West Serbia, there is also mindblowing sights in East Serbia. I recommend you take 3-4 years time to visit all worth visiting, because I am hiker 20 years now, and I still discover over and over and over again hidden pearls of nature... and there is no end :)

When you just go highways you want see anything except gas stations and restoraunts ..like everone else in the world ..i see that every summer when milions from europe past try Serbian highways ,everyone in rush to their vacation on seaside in Greece ,Bulgaria,Turkey..maybe only 1 in 10 000 off that cars will exit highway and see what's in Serbia

For Uvac Canyon I would recommend to people not to drive up, but just go to where it starts on the bottom, by the dam, park there and buy a ticket for the boat ride, it’s about €15/17 per person. The boat ride is truly breathtaking and you have many majestic Eurasian Griffon Vultures flying in the sky over you. They come to the canyon in late January - early February to lay eggs. They’re monogamous, so they stay with their partner for life. The female lays only one egg and both parents sit on it for two months until it hatches. When it starts getting cold again they migrate to Southwestern Asia or North Africa. Also, the boat stops at a cave where you can go in, as well as by the end of the canyon on a climbing path to one of the viewpoint, it’s a hard climb, but totally worth it, you can also get a beer or coffee while soaking up the views, go back down and ride the boat back to the starting point. ☺️

I'm curious, as I'm watching your older videos and me being from the US, have you found that being english speaking, but NOT American has made any difference in how people have been treating you? Like, we Americans just assume we're pretty much hated by everybody, but I would love to do an adventure like you guys are doing; so just curious if you've run into and prejudices that maybe went away, once they folks realized you were not American? Or am I just being overly paranoid? LOL

I honestly never perceived anyone thinking we were American and then changing their mind. People tend to assume we are German or Australian if not heard us speak. Maybe we don't look very American lol?? Only time we've felt any weirdness was in Republic of Ireland we don't think people like northern Ireland people haha. But probably us being paranoid lmao
