I very much appreciate that! I am trying to make them interesting for everyone by taking flights to lesser known places or on lesser known airlines. Thank you for watching!
I know it's not you but the airport website talking about the airport history is quite lacking. After the merger with Chicago & Southern, Delta was at the airport until 1969 & that was 9 years before The Deregulation Act of 1978. Before leaving HOT, DL had 2 daily flights on DC-9-30 main line jets (1 to LIT, the other to BHM). Central Airlines served the airport from 1955 until they were bought by Frontier in 1967. FL stayed at the airport until 1979, using CV-580 propjets. Trans Texas Airways (changed their name to Texas International in 1969) served HOT from 1953 until they left in 1979. They flew DC-9 jets & CV-600 propjets at the time they left. So during the 1950s/60s, the airport was served by 3 airlines at the same time with daily flights. Several commuter carriers filled the gap in the 1980s after deregulation when the larger carriers were allowed to discontinue service to smaller cities in the US.
Do they give you a complimentary ride over to the main terminal at Memphis? Also for carry-on bags, do you just have to sacrifice some of your leg room to bring a backpack aboard?
@@jeffbridgman Yes and yes. Carry on bags can be checked for free at the gate if you wish for legroom, and a shuttle is provided on request at Memphis.
